The property was spectacular and the house was perfect! Bill and Lu made sure all of the amenities were taken care of. Spent a lot of time outside on the Chama River. I have already recommended this listing to multiple people! Look forward to scheduling another visit!
We had a wonderful time in nature. The home design was great for our family. The kitchen is well-stocked, and we enjoyed cooking. The sounds of the river and birds were a delight as well as the fragrance of desert vegetation. We enjoyed watching birds play while listening to the water flowing. Making a fire was super easy with the wood stacked right beside the fire pit The location was great for the hiking we wanted to do. Highly recommend!
Wonderful cabin with a relaxed, cozy vibe. We didn't stay long enough to enjoy all the features, but really nice setup for hanging out, including a fire pit and chairs overlooking the river.
This home is beautiful!! right on the river. Home has everything you would need to enjoy your stay; along with very comfy beds. Very private and peaceful location that we plan on renting again sometime in the future.
Great property and location within a reasonable driving distance to Christ in the Desert Monastery, Chimayo, Santa Fe and Taos. Secluded and beautiful. The owners were communicative and the caretaker gave an added sense of protection and guidance.
Great house in great location. Fully stocked and right on the river . Wonderful screened porch on the river side of the house . This was our second stay and we hope to be back many more times .
Canât say enough good things about this house, the property and the hosts! Gorgeous home with breathtaking views of the Chama and surrounding mountains, river access in the back yard. Very friendly, relaxed and helpful hosts. Comfy beds, luxurious showers and a very well stocked kitchen! Could not have asked for anything more from a rental!
Stayed in Bill and Luâs home for a long weekend and truly enjoyed the experience! The stove kept the place warm and there were plenty of extra blankets. The surrounding area is gorgeous and was a great escape from the city for me and a few friends. Bill sent very precise directions about how to get there and get into the house and we encountered no issues.
Would recommend this to anyone who wants a calm getaway.
What a great time we had at this beautiful property right on the Rio Chama. We stayed three nights at this fantastic artists home and loved it.
Four of us slept comfortably and loved the ample and well appointed kitchen, living area and dining room.....and the screened in porch overlooking the river was a perfect gathering place for morning coffee~ We would love to return next year!
Lovely, quirky house in a great location. Odd bedroom placement. Needs another bathroom (especially with ten adults). The natural setting makes up for quirks. Never knew cottonwoods could be this beautiful. Well-stocked kitchen. Freshly-split firewood.
Bring your family, food, spirits and change of clothes and you are at HOME.
From the bedrooms to the kitchen to the porches there is nothing to want for. All is there.
Beautiful location is a large part of the charm but the work that the owners put into the home make it even more lovely.
Artwork and books plus firewood on property.
All utensils in the kitchen you could want for. All the dishes to hold that food, are there.
The beds are super comfortable. The two bathrooms were fine for eight of us. The furnishings unique, as well.
Their tap water was very good and they also supplied bottled drinking water.
We only brought one son with his family along but we have more sons and more grands to show to this area.
I highly recommend this property to view the amazing and enchanting New Mexico city of AbiquiĂș'.
Abiquiu is a remote community and the Leeâs house is a remote property. We relished the remoteness, mainly because we are from a big city. The adobe structure maintains temperature very well. The house has AC but itâs needed only on the warmest summer afternoons. The beds weâre comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and roomy. The kitchen was very well supplied with sharp knives, one thing I look for! Multiple coffee makers made mornings perfect. We ate our meals on the back screened porch as the Chama river flowed by. It could not have nicer. Coffee and cocktails by the river are a must. No wildlife except the neighborhood dog, Jango. Rick, the caretaker, was close by and he quickly fixed a breaker that had flipped in the bathroom.
All in all a great summer getaway from a miserable Texas summer.
I would definitely recommend and I plan to return next year.
Beautiful area, perfect place to relax and recharge
The house is very well stocked, we were happy to have all we needed in the kitchen- including 5 different ways to make coffee! The mini split A/C was fantastic too! If you bring a dog take note- thereâs a house along the driveway (thatâs about a half mile long) that has at least 4 dogs that are not fenced in. The first couple days we took my dog, who is super friendly, for his walk and these dogs came charging at us and sniffed my pup and barked and followed us until we passed their property. It was fine, but one dog started to get a little more aggressive sounding so we started driving past their house to then start our walk or run. Not a big deal, but just something to know if youâre bringing a dog and want to take them on a walk from the vrbo house. We also had been planning to use the twin bed in the covered porch area, but there was some mouse poop on it and lizards everywhere- again, to be expected in this lovely secluded area but just know you may not want to count on using that bed. Really loved staying here and would love to come back in the winter, Iâll bet itâs just gorgeous! đ
Just a complete, wonderful seven night stay. Myself, wife, and goldendoodle (Sadie).
For brevity, I won't just re-state the previous positive reviews. They are all on target!
VERY clean, supplied, and everything you could want. Much more space than we needed, but we generally plan our stays that way.
There was a controlleld seasonal dam release up river due to snow melt, so at our point the river was flowing notably faster than normal. Maybe 30 mph or so. We liked that.
House has a terrific brand new multi-zone AC/Heating system. We didn't even use it until a few hours our very last night.
The hosts are perfect in anything we needed, which was basically nothing.
Rick, the neaby caretaker is a heck of a guy to interact with.
Brenda, the weekly housekeeper.... is a complete GEM!
So much to do in this area. We are retired, so we are not hiking people, but did some terrific and great scenic drives: Lake Mountain out of Santa Fe, the Rio Grande bridge out of Taos, and the fantastic 86/17/285 loop back to the house (via Chamas).
You can take the steam engine train to do the latter, but we decided to drive it. The train won't take you to the high mountain resevoir which is a can't miss.
But, this listing is dead on accurate. Would not hesitate to recommend these people, and the premises.
A truly life memoriable trip and stay!
Our only regret is being home (eastern Missouri) already!
Someone in an earlier review complained of "splintered" firepit chairs. REALLY?
My family used the house as a base to explore Chaco Canyon, Ghost Ranch, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, and local area hiking and Taos. Aside from the great location, the house was clean, in a relaxing setting right by the Chama river, and had about every convienience you could want. I recomend this house.
My husband and I really enjoyed this house. Itâs far back off the main road and feels private and isolated. We were able to bring our two dogs and there was plenty of room outside for them to play. The house is stocked super well from the kitchen, to bedding, to games to play. The area is remote and filled with amazing views. The owners were quick to respond and the on-property contact was helpful and fun to chat with.
Beautiful home exactly as described. Clean and well supplied. The kitchen was particularly well supplied with pots, pans, utensils, and appliances. We had a wonderful time.
We recently held our annual company retreat here. As a member-owned webdev coop, our numbers fluctuate. Currently we're at 3 members.
Each person had their own bed/bedroom/space. So many rental adds say they have a lot of beds but they're counting couches, etc.
The house was incredibly well-appointed! Numerous different kinds of coffee makers and pretty much every spice or oil you could need for cooking. I've never experienced this before and it was much appreciated.
We stayed nice and warm and never needed to use the fireplace. I appreciate radiant heat flooring versus forced air because the latter dries you out.
Having two types of internet was much-appreciated, and the new Starlink worked great!
All in all, a wonderful, restful, relaxing basecamp to explore the area from. Hope to try it out again during the summer, as I'd love to sleep on that screened in porch!
Once again, our group had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property!
Our annual Abiquiu artistâs retreat is something special we look forward to, and being here together at this great home each year makes it perfect! This was the first time we were here during a bit of snowfall, and we stayed cozy inside by the wood stove~
We love this place!
My husband and I built our home in 2009 and have enjoyed the special qualities of Abiquiu. I need to return to Northern New Mexico for time for the peace and quiet. And to rebuild my energy. It calls me back.
On the river, sleeps 5 couples -plus an extra person on the screened portal, another on the window seat and another on the couch. And a queen futon in the studio. It has a nice kitchen with everything you need to enjoy your stay. There is a barbecue and seating on the river. In the summer you can enjoy your meal on the screened portal.
