Great place to stay

This is a great place to stay. It has everything you need. The pool was great and it is only about 30 minutes from the ocean which is nice. It is a bit hard to find places that will accept dogs, and this one does.

Beautiful getaway !

Really nice spot with front bay view, we saw some pretty amazing sunrises. Quiet and peaceful. For us it was the perfect location that allowed us to bring our dog.

The property is amazing. We needed a getaway for peace and quiet. This property is remote and private. We didn’t have to share the pool with anyone. We enjoyed watching the bay activity. The property is a 30-minute drive to Gulf Shores. Amenities were perfect. House was clean and bed was very comfy. We hated to leave but reality called.

The house and the view were absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed our stay overall. However, there are a few things future guests may want to be aware of before booking.First, there is no direct beach or water access from the back of the property. Fortunately, the neighbor next door was incredibly kind and allowed our children to use her beach area to access the water.Second, the grill pictured in the listing was not operational during our stay. We had planned to use it for several meals, so this was a bit disappointing.Additionally, the pool appeared to need a thorough cleaning, particularly on the bottom. We contacted the host to ask if there was a pool vacuum available for guest use. The host informed us that someone would come out the following day to address it, but no one arrived during our stay.Lastly, the dryer was not working. To the host’s credit, they did send someone to inspect it the day before we left. We were told the heating element had failed and a replacement part would need to be ordered. With five people staying in the house, not having a functioning dryer made laundry a challenge.Overall, the home and property are beautiful, and we had a nice vacation. I simply wanted to share these details so future guests can plan accordingly and know what to expect.

We have 2 new dogs and needed to prioritize a place that we bring them with us. The property is fenced in, but keep any eye on smaller dogs ( 10lbs) because of natural erosion at the fence line. We also wanted to find a place that wasn't as crowded as the touristy parts of the gulf. This property is just that. You can tell that someone raised a family there -- there is a grand old oak that shades the pool in the afternoon and the porch is really pleasant with excellent views all around. There is a yard along the side for dogs and kids to run. The bedrooms are on each corner with 2 adjacent, so they are fairly private. There is a gate at center back for accessing the bay and there is nice string lighting around the pool for warm nights. It's about a 15 minute drive by land to restaurants, so bring your food down with you so you can just unplug and check out. There is a Big Green Egg by the pool, though we did not use it during our stay. Management has just replaced the pool pump. Laundry, stove/oven, dishwasher, and internet were in good working order and the kitchen is stocked well. There is a public boat ramp nearby, and if you bring your boat, you'll have no trouble getting to a lot of restaurants and shopping across the bay. We met a lot of the locals walking our dogs in the evening around the neighborhood and everyone was very friendly. We plan to return again.

Perfect getaway

This was a sister trip and we loved it! The back deck and pool view was fabulous. The house was perfect for our needs. The management company was great - communication was immediate and very helpful.

Perfect Bay House!

We loved our stay at flip flop perdido bay house! The yard and pool was perfect for all of us including the pups. The sand bars in the bay were great and the bay water was extremely pleasant for February! The house was much more upgraded then the pictures which was a great surprise! The neighbors were welcoming and even brought us fresh home grown Florida Oranges! We loved it so much we booked our next stay before we even checked out 😊

Nice and Quiet

The house is really nice, minus the missing leg on the couch. It is secluded, about 40 minutes from Gulf Shores, 25 from PCB and 30 from OB. The Pool is not heated which should be no issue for the summer. The hosts were very diligent in answering texts/emails before and during the stay. If you are looking for quiet and secluded spot with nice amenities this is your spot.

Sibling vacation plus one husband, niece and great nephew

We had a wonderful stay. My 10 year old Great Nephew had such fun. It was so relaxing for us all and the pool was A plus. Only thing negative was I have a 7 pound dog that could not run free due to gaps in fences that she could crawl under. It was all good we just walked her on her leash. I would so love to have a place like that to vacation. We reported the coffee pot not working properly and shower curtain that needed replacing. Shower curtain replaced promptly.

Great views but housekeeping could improve.

Stay was good overall. The overall location was not convenient to the main drag due to having to drive around the bay to get to it because there's not a bridge close by. The cleanliness was not what is expected from a rental property. There was layers of dust in blinds and fans and tops of furniture. The floor also needed vacuumed from hairballs and dust bunnies. Couch could use some febreeze! Having the bay right out the back was amazing. Views and water acces were a plus and we enjoyed the kayaks and sitting out back watching sunrises and sunsets!

Wonderful week with family

We stayed for 6 nights for a family vacation. The house was the perfect size for our group of 9. Having our own pool and the view of the bay was really great. We spent a lot of time on the deck in the evenings. The patio furniture was comfy and there is evening a swing. There was one rain day and the covered patio and the area underneath the house made it nice to still enjoy being outside. The fenced in yard was great for my dogs. The bad…it rained and we woke up to water dripping on our face. The roof was leaking! We did let the rental company know and I was a little annoyed by the “oh well that will be a funny memory to write in your vacation journal”. I felt like it should’ve been more like “I’m so sorry this happened and what can we do to make this better?”. Next…spindles on the deck and front step railings are rotting and loose. My 2 yr old granddaughter almost fell off the deck because she was holding onto one that broke loose!! Thankfully we grabbed her and pulled her away. This railing and deck really needs replaced. The picnic table is rotten. My son sat on it the first day and the seat broke in half. This needs replaced as well. The kitchen had pretty much all the basics you need to prepare meals. There were pots and pans but anything we cooked in the stainless steel skillets stuck to them no matter what we did to stop it. The location is private and we loved that but it’s also 30 minutes to anything from here so that did get a little old.

We have not detected any issues with the deck and spindles in the past, but we will be sure to monitor their strength more frequently. It is alarming to hear that your granddaughter almost fell due to the loose spindles, and we will prioritize repairs and replacements for the railing, deck, and picnic table to ensure they meet safety standards and provide a secure environment for all our guests. Regarding the kitchenware, I apologize for the inconvenience with the stainless steel skillets. We will look into upgrading these items to provide a better cooking experience for our future guests. While I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the size of the house, the private location, the pool, and the view, it's clear that the issues you faced overshadowed these positive aspects. The pool was a swamp the day we checked in and the entire 2 weeks. Repairs were due the day we left. Very frustrating given that beach is 30-40mins away. Exterior of house was very unclean, we never used table and chairs under house - they had mildew and months of dirt on them. Grill was also not something we would use. Cobwebs and bugs on back porch, and outlets were unsafe to use with burn marks on them. This house needs a clean up!!!

Amazing View! Wonderful Time!!

The TV in the living room went out our 2nd night and my feet got pretty dirty walking around barefoot but that didn’t take away from the amazing time we had. It’s hard to find such a nice place you can take your dogs. We did take a tieout just in case our little one could get under some of the spots in the fence but our bigger one loved running around. We saw dolphins almost everyday in the bay, got kayaks out once and my 16yr old and 19yrd old really enjoyed the pool. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t warm enough for me . First day 80s then it went down to 60s. We went to perdido key FL which had beautiful Clear water and was only 30min drive. We’re planning on coming back in the summer so we can really enjoy beach and pool. We’ve never returned anywhere! This place was amazing and flip flop vacations were extremely easy to work with.

Quiet and Peaceful

Very calming, nice and quiet. Enjoyed very much. Kinda far away from grocery store, but other than that what we needed for a good weekend

Great vacation

Overall, we loved our vacation. The pool, view, and neighborhood were amazing. We loved the fenced in yard for our dog. The communication was great and very prompt. Only negative was the cleanileness of the home. The windows still had face and hand marks, the counters hadn't been wiped down, and the trash cans under the house were full and had maggots all over them. There was also left over dead fish and craps in cages under the deck that smelled awful and attracted flies. However, all of this was easy to fix and didnt ruin our vacation or change our minds about staying here. We had a great time and would stay again. We even got to see some dolphins in our bay. Home was also very close to many other towns and amenities.

Review

While we had a great time in the house and pool, there were a few things that were disappointing… 1. Hole in the wall in the kitchen, with black mold in the cupboard by sink, causing that entire side of the house to smell musty. Not to mention gross. The faucet in the sink dripped incessantly. 2. The bathroom in the master suite was beautiful! The other bathroom was not. The shower tub was literally squishy under your feet making it feel like you could fall through at any moment; causing all 5 of us to have to shower in the master which was terribly inconvenient. Also the fan was broken. 3. There was broken glass around the perimeter of the pool, had to pick a few shards out of my dogs paw as well as my child. BUT, the neighbor Jim was welcoming and pleasant. The location of the property was great! We loved watching the dolphins play in the bay every morning.

We are glad that you enjoyed your time at The Flip Flop Bay House! It is such a nice spot to relax. We do sincerely apologize that everything about the house was not up to your expectations! We did want to comment concerning the events that unfolded here in late summer at The Bay House. The house literally stays booked back to back to back almost year around but definitely March - September. In June we had a bad plumbing leak in one bathroom while a guest was staying. Our plumber was there within an hour and we got thinks back to normal. We repaired sheetrock and paint in 6 hours between the next guest. In early August it happened again but this time 3 leaks in less than 24 hours. We repaired the majority of the sheetrock and cleaned everything the best we could. We refused to cancel any of our guests reservations and decided to make things the very best we could. So we ultimately left a hole under the sink by mistake and got as much done as we possibly could in the 6 hours between guests checking out and the next checking in. We did do our best to make things guest ready. Just before Labor Day weekend we actually had 2-1/2 days open and the owner of the home had the house entirely replumbed, sheet rock repairs completed and painted. In the off season the kitchen will likely be completely updated. Last winter he completely updated the master bath and he replaced the beds and the living room furniture. This has been a great house through the years and many return year after year. We will only continue to get better we can assure you. It's a special place and we welcome the many that will come relax here in the future!

Relaxing

Looking for a quiet get away and you didn't disappoint! This property was exactly what we were looking for...nothing fancy...pet friendly and close to Pensacola and Foley/Gulf Shores...after gathering our seafood from Joe Patti's and groceries we never left the property with exception to visit Pirates Cove which is super easy to get to...

Perfect for pets, good host

Great view, very comfortable. Picked up a lot of dog poop that wasn't from our dogs. The host did not stick us with a bunch of rules and we had a relaxed week. Pool never gave any heat even with several full sun days. And if you're going to show a picture of french doors, they should work. But we still loved it and would go again.

Thank you for the review you also left in our guest book at the property which read: "Wonderful Views! Sunrise is fabulous! Flip Flop Vacation rentals were very accommodating! Thank-you for a lovely stay! We work hard for those 5 star reviews we really do because they are so important to our owners and to our company. Our property pool is not heated so naturally it's just not going to heat up in February even on a sunny day. Having a dog friendly place for our guests is a big bonus for this property along with the great views and the peace and quiet. Unfortunately as we all know, everyone is not as good about cleaning up after their pets like others especially in common shared space. We are really proud of the Flip Flop Bay House and we look forward to welcoming our future guests!
