Blue Moose Cottage - A peaceful paradise of Alaskan awe and allure.
Visitors say, "How do you ever leave this place!" The cottage is located on a lakeside homestead that we call, Selah Rest Orchard, a U-Pick-It orchard, with apples, plums, cherries, haskaps, currants and raspberries. It is surrounded by natural forests and inspiring mountain views, just 3 miles from world-class fishing on the Little Susitna River, 25 miles west of Wasilla.
Loved everything about our stay!! If we get to Alaska again and are in the area of our cottage that we stayed in, weâll definitely choose this place!!
My first solo trip was to Alaska and stayed here. They were great, very kind, and responsive. Beautiful and clean property with a great view. Highly recommend staying at the Blue Moose Cottage!
I would highly recommend this cozy cabin for a romantic getaway. The cabin was clean ,fresh and inviting. You have the feeling of privacy and the togetherness. I would definitely stay here again.
Our names are Dale and Frankie Shillington. We both grew up on small family farms and moved to Alaska in 1989. We love growing things and are slowly carving out a useable footprint on our family homestead to develop an Alaska-hardy sustainable U-Pick-it orchard.
The Blue Moose Cottage is nestled on the edge of the Alaskan wilderness but still contains the comfortable amenities of modern life. The first notable feature of this get-a-way is that it offers a place for unparalleled peace and quiet. We use the word "Selah" to describe our property. It is an old musical term that means, "pause to rest and reflect on the wonder of it all." Guests often report that they arrived frazzled and frenzied from the rat-race of life but left feeling renewed and regenerated.
Our property is the perfect place to soak your senses in scenes of wild Alaskan beauty. In the summer you may be awakened by the antiphonal song of our resident arctic loons or watch bald eagles soar in the wind. In the winter you may be lucky to see a big bull moose lounging in the willows or cutting a trail across the lake. Or you could see the night sky erupted by the dancing lights of the aurora borealis. One other feature that makes this property one of the best-kept-secrets is that it is an accessible location for day trips to other Alaskan activities and attractions.
