Closest mountain cabin to Denver International Airport(DIA/DEN). Perfect location to stay in the Colorado mountains with easy access to Boulder (17.5 miles highway to CU), Golden (15 miles), Denver (33.5 miles), Red Rocks (22 miles), Arvada, and mountain towns with easy driving access on Colorado Highway 72. Coal Creek Cabins is a 4-cabin property on 5 acres located in historic Coal Creek Canyon. Enjoy the creek trail, picnic tables, and views of steep Blue Mountain slopes + Coal Creek Canyon.

This rustic "1930 Zebulon Pike Cabin" on Coal Creek with 1 bedroom and 1 sleeper sofa and mountain views honors the Western America explorer Zebulon Pike who joined the United States Army at age 15 and with a group of soldiers set out in hopes of finding the source of the Arkansas River. Along the way, he noticed “a small blue cloud” in the distance. Eager to explore what he saw, he traveled until he reached the base of a mountain that would be called Pikes Peak. After Zebulon Pike’s death and the discovery of gold in Colorado, “Pike’s Peak or Bust” became the slogan of all those headed West in hopes of fame and fortune.

High speed wireless Internet all the way up the mountains to the cabins for 100 MB per second download speed + 50 MB per second upload speed for Smart LED TV apps. This is truly amazing!!!

Perfect for a romantic getaway, recreation, family retreat or business trip. Nestled along Coal Creek Canyon, this cabin has easy access along Colorado Highway 72. It is 9 miles from Highway 93 on the plains so has great access only 10 minutes from the plains.

Activities in the area: All within about a half-hour.

Fishing, ice fishing, hunting, hiking, rock climbing, golf, kayaking, rafting, horseback riding, bike riding, atv, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, boating, hunting, snow shoeing, sledding and cross country skiing, downhill skiing, golf, gambling, shows, Coors Brewery, and shopping. The property looks over Walker Ranch hiking and biking area and the Gross Reservoir water area, dam and spillway.

The small mountain town of Nederland is quite an experience to explore. Rafting in Idaho Springs 41 miles. Denver is also just 35 miles away where you can enjoy The Buell Theater(concerts, plays, symphony), Natural History Museum, Denver Broncos football, Colorado Rockies baseball, Denver Nuggets basketball, Colorado Avalanche hockey and so much more. Water World Water Park is within 45 minutes as well as Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park. Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Vail Ski Resorts make a good day trip. Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park are 60 miles away. Rafting and hot springs in Idaho Springs. Denver Intl Airport is an hour away. National Western Stock Show, Red Rocks Amphitheater is 26 miles and you can take a party bus through ride-to-redrocks. Check out Eldorado Hot Springs and enjoy a massage.

Bedding, towels, kitchen pots, pans, utensils, etc. are all provided.

Entertainment: high definition television set with high-speed WiFi for app access (100 Mbps download -- rare in the mountains).

Stellar blue jays, nuthatches, finches and robins frequent the home except in the coldest wintertime. Birdseed is sometimes provided or can be purchased to set on the deck railings for them to eat while you can watch them for the comfort inside the lodge.

Hummingbirds love the area in the summertime with their high-pitched whine and frequent the property.

The cabin is an older building and thus has things that could be updated that would improve the quality of the stay. It was a little on the expensive side for what it was, but based on other places in the area, not out of line. It was well stocked and had everything we needed with the exception of meals. It was generally clean, but could have used a few finishing touches to make it more pleasant. The main complaint I had was the shower. It was EXTREMELY small and the floor of the shower was extremely slippery and I almost fell a number of times. In general, we had a pleasant stay but I think with a little TLC and at minimal cost, the cabin could be upgraded to make it a much nicer experience to stay there.

The mountain cabin is ~$100 per night so great value in perfect location to go to Boulder, Denver, Nederland, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, etc. High speed internet, Smart Apps TV, Mountain Views, and short Creek Trail are all provided. Renovations include new Flooring, new Shower, new Bathroom Vanity and Mirror, etc. We continually provide TLC but have already invested a ton in both purchase and enhancements already...

My parents really enjoyed their stay at the Zebulon cabin. They were able to get to Boulder and Estes Park with ease. The amenities and cabins have clearly been recently updated and are in good condition.

Time in the mountains

Such a beautiful area! The cabin had dog hair all over the floor and furniture. I guess that's what you can expect if they allow pets. The owner was very happy to do whatever was needed to help us. The owner was also very responsive. Overall we had a good time.

Not quite as expected

Honestly it was ok for the price but the cabin needs a good deep cleaning. The sheets had hair on them when we arrived. I messaged the host but got no response. Outside the cabin is very overgrown with weeds making it look unkempt. There were 5 propane tanks lying around outside. The location is great but needs lots of TLC!

Cabin was perfect for our 1 night stay with our 2 dogs. Although the cabin is older, with uneven floors, and a suspiciously saggy front step, it was clean and comfortable, with homey touches added by the owner. There is a small fenced in yard for the dogs, but the fence isn't in the greatest of shape so be careful if you have an escape artist. Our dogs enjoyed the ability to freely sniff and wander the yard. We would stay again if in the area.

Colorado mountain high! (Naturally)

Great location....beautiful views. Easy access to State Parks and urban adventures. Only one issue, the screen door could use a strong latch as winds blew it open and shut.

Very Cozy Cabin

Very cozy and comfortable. Easy to find and the location is perfect for getting away from everyday life. Just about an hour drive from Rocky Mountain National Park and Garden of the Gods. The only thing I had an issue with was there was a strange smell coming from the bathroom area and we couldn't find any bowls. Other than those two things we had a blast.

Coal Creek Cabin Stay

The host made the check in process really easy and contacted us when the cabin was ready. That is a great location to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding areas. Shower is small for those over 6 ft tall, but otherwise loved the stay. There is a Sinclair gas station nearby for morning coffee and the Last Stand Tavern has great food!

Colorado Getaway

The property was located along a creek but I was disappointed there weren’t really any trails or places to enjoy nature within walking distance. We ran out of TP and trash bags and had to buy our own. The bed wasn’t really that comfortable.

As stated, "The property was located along a creek" and as we state in the listing we own 700 feet along the creek that folks can amble around. As I previously communicated to the guest, there are a number of parks and trails easily drivable including Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Walker Ranch, and Eldoratdo Canyon State Park. Beds are a personal preference and difficult to make perfect for everyone... Toilet Paper and trash bags are provided to start with as with all 20 of other Vrbo's so a little confused as to why there was an expectation of anything else when the guest stayed for a week. Really believe the value for this location is excellent and am completely confused as to why was given a 2-star rating as it is not warranted...
