Great Potential, Needs Attention to Detail

Upon first sight this place was awesome. The location was great and the home was decorated nicely. It didnt take long to start noticing the faults. In the pictures on the listing the back yard looked amazing but when we got there it was a mess. The porch was filthy with dirt and leaves. The hot tub smelled moldy and had litter from the trees floating all in it. One night my daughter was visited by a family of large rats while outside. On the inside you could tell that the cleaning crew hits the high spots. There was a poop smear on the bathroom wall (sorry for lack of better terminology) and we had to kill a roach.. I know its Florida and there are bugs but I have never had to kill a roach on any vacation stay. There was coffee available but no sugar packets and the creamer was out of date and curdled. We could never get the wifi password. There was a magnet on the fridge to put the wifi info but it was blank. I requested it fom the owner and he just asked if I had read the listing, which I had but I went back and read it again and didn't see anything about wifi. The shower head is mounted high enough for a 5 year old. It is a handheld so you either have to hold the head the whole time or squat to get under it. I think the biggest surprise was finding out 2 days before we got there that its a shared home. The 3 bedroom is seperate from a 1 bedroom. We share the backyard and the laundry room wich was directly off our kitchen. I would have liked to know that beforehand.

Thank you for the detailed review. We take these quite seriously. I wish you had mentioned ANY of this during your stay so we would have had a chance to remedy anything before leaving this review but we will continue to give 100% for our guests. We have a SUPERHOST rating with 40+ 5-STAR REVIEWS and nothing below that on our other platform. We hope to perform in the same way on VRBO going forward. Allow me to address everything you mentioned... I am sorry you came at the end of winter when leaves from our trees constantly fall. We do sweep them before and after all reservations, but at that time of year it only takes a couple hours for the leaves to be on the ground outside in the backyard. Perhaps we should have told you that there are trees around our property... The hot tub is also cleaned and new sanitary chemicals added every stay. If it does get moldy as you said, we drain it and start again. I apologize for not having sugar packets ready at hand. That will be fixed but the creamer is fresh and I've had no other complaints about that but I did check a few just to make sure and didn't find any curdling... When I asked if you had checked the listing to see the wifi. it was to make sure it was coming up on your end.. 7 Hours later you replied "I didnt. We've been so busy having fun we havent really thought much more about it!" There was no communication after that. The shower head is adjustable. It gets as low as you say so kids can use it and above 7 feet. Im sorry you didn't figure out how to slide it. I find it shocking that your daughter encountered a family of rats in the backyard. After living there and having dozens of other reservations, we've never encountered that or heard another instance of that... The backyard amenities are shared and we now have messaging that makes certain this is not a surprise but it is written on the listing as well. I'm sorry you did not read that when booking.. While I find it hard to believe there was a poop smear given that our cleaners are thorough and send me photo updates every cleaning, we will make triple certain that doesn't happen.... Roaches are quite common in Florida but we also spray and have critter poison tucked in the dark corners of the home just in case.... I wish you had mentioned ANY of this during your stay so we would have had a chance to remedy anything before leaving this review but we will continue to give 100% for our guests. Again, I hope this doesn't dissuade future guests because like I said earlier, we have a SUPERHOST rating with 40+ 5-STAR REVIEWS and nothing below that on our other platform. We hope to perform in the same way on VRBO going forward.
