Cozy barn nestled on a 5-acre hobby farm, just 15 minutes from Purdue
Have you ever wanted to wake up on a farm with horses just out the back door or collect fresh farm eggs for breakfast? When you stay at The Barn at the Funky Chicken Farm, you can get just that! We love sharing our love of hobby farming with others and will show you the ropes if you are interested. If not, no worries! There is a huge covered porch where you can sip your morning coffee and watch from afar. A fire pit is located just off the barn where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of the country. In the winter, you will be able to curl up on the sofa while the wood burning stove heats the main areas of the barn. Itâs time to sit back, relax and enjoy what country living can do for your soul!
The owner was awesome really quick response and was helpful. The place was really nice and the fact that right by your door, you could see the chickens, the ducks and horses. The porch was really nice. Had some nice rocking chairs and every once in a while some really nice cats would come and visit you. Would definitely come again.
We did a short stay with 2 kids. Loves the rural experience! The friendly farm cats and the chickens provided so much entertainment! Great local restaurants and outdoor activities
The property was great. It was close enough to enjoy my daughter's graduation from Purdue University and far enough away to not feel overwhelmed. It was great cooking a home cooked meal and socializing with family in a relaxed environment.
Thanks to our host/hostess. Our visit was nice in spite of rain. Enjoyed watching the chickens and hope to stay there again very soon. Accommodations were very nice.
A perfect little getaway that was surprisingly spacious and very well "equipped". The open floor plan was wonderful and the furniture and bedding were great - fully supplied with everything you might need or forgot. Strangely out of all the animals I think the 3 smokey grey cats were our favorites. So nice. Easily accessible to Attica/The Badlands off road park if that's your destination as it was ours. Absolutely will stay again!
Very spacious and comfortable accommodations. Easy drive to Purdue. Definitely recommend over a hotel and especially for those looking for more than one bedroom. We will return again.
The home was beautiful inside and out very clean. The host was very welcoming and so sweet of and issue occurred it was fix in a very timely manner. Ver quiet area highly recommended
We booked a week here to get our summer off to a great start. Our boys, 8 and 5, absolutely loved the barn cats! The boys would sit on the deck and the friendly cats would approach for gentle petting. The chickens were so entertaining, and the fresh eggs a great breakfast! The accommodations are really comfortable and spacious! The kitchen was nice and it was easy to cook some meals there. The location provided us a short drive to Lafayette where we found some great attractions and restaurants. There are great state parks within a short drive too. Given the time we were there, we enjoyed strawberry picking and found some gigantic berries there! The hosts were so gracious in showing us how they care for their chickens. The horses are peaceful in their grazing in the pasture. I found our stay was so restorative from the hustle and bustle of suburban life. One of our family friends booked here a couple of weeks after we stayed and shared her positive experiences too. We really appreciated the hosts' thinking of everything, giving us so much information about running their farm, and the wonderful environment that they have created!
This is a fun place to stay with all of the animals and the hosts were very gracious. The inside of the house was very nice, clean and organized.
While the birds are part of the fun, they do naturally make a mess outside. The hosts do their best to keep it clean, but you do need to watch where you step or sit. That was really the only drawback of the animals, but I still feel that they overall enhanced the fun of our stay.
This property is a gem. Wonderful host. Great communication made it easy to check in. It is spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet and just feels homey. Such a quaint place. We were entertained by the chickens and ducks. We enjoyed some fresh eggs. The horses greeted us with a neigh. It different weather we wouldâve enjoyed coffee on the large covered porch.
I grew up just outside of Indianapolis and came to Purdue in 1999 to attend college. I never left! Iâve lived in a few different places throughout the county but something was always missing. In October 2021, I came across this property and fell in love with it.
The opportunity to host came about after we built our home. We moved out of the barn and into our home in February 2023. It was then we renovated and updated a few things in the barn to make it more functional for family and friends. We enjoy sharing our property and the serene atmosphere with others who just want a nice, relaxing getaway.
Our day jobs differ from our home life. I am a special education teacher at a local elementary school and my fiancee runs a lawn care business out of the garage in the barn. When we are home, you will find us working our horses, tending to the chickens and ducks as well as continuing to turn the property into our dream home.
Situated on the southwest end of Tippecanoe county, we are close to everything but just far enough away that you may think twice about leaving. The neighborhood is quiet and tucked away between wood areas and farm fields.
We love being able to be outside and the privacy the neighborhood provides between homes.
Our property offers the unique experience of hobby farm living. Whether you want to sit and just enjoy the atmosphere or jump in and help, we can make that happen. Our guests have the opportunity to learn basics in equine care and groundwork to keep our horses happy and healthy. When you stay on our property, you can help feed the chickens as well as collect eggs.
