Our family of 7 ranging from 6-76 years old spent 2 glorious weeks in Casale Napoletano. The house has been renovated in a beautiful style. Each bedroom has plenty of space and we all commented on how well we all slept throughout the holiday. This is due to the beds being of high quality but also as each window has fly screens and wooden shutters throughout the house. This really made a huge difference as windows can be left open all day and night providing a comfortable airy feel.
The kitchen is not only beautifully crafted but also hugely functional, you’d struggle to want for anything. The island has plenty room for dining. We split our cooking between the kitchen and the outdoor options. There is an outdoor pizza oven and BBQ with plenty of wood supplied for your stay. We all loved getting the fire going then cooking outdoors in the evening. There is also a gas BBQ should u prefer that option. A short 10-15 min drive from the property down the scenic country lanes is Umbertide from where you’ll find plenty of options for buying groceries.
What really set this holiday apart from other villas we’ve stayed in is the options Michael the owner has arranged to dine in. We had 3 fantastic meals with Anna and Franco. By the end we felt like part of their extended Italian family! We had a great pizza night on our 1st night. Then we discovered Franco could do a Porchetta on the fire. He spent the whole day cooking this huge side of pork on the wood fired oven and it was simply delicious. Anna is a great cook and everything you eat is traditionally Umbrian in style, tastes amazing and of course is plentiful. Each meal was filled with great laughs despite the fact we were all speaking different languages!!!
Outdoors there are loads of areas around the house to relax and enjoy the view. The pool was a really great size and kept very clean throughout our stay. There’s plenty space to sunbathe or relax in the shade. The house is situated in beautiful peaceful farmland and we didn’t hear another soul. It’s a stones throw away from Montone and an easy drive to lovely towns like Assisi and Gubbio which are all beautiful and a little less busy than the better known tourist hotspots.
All in all we found Casale Napoletano a perfect place to relax, eat and sightsee. Michael the owner is super proactive with any questions or problems you may have, a real pleasure to deal with. We’ll definitely all be returning sometime soon.
Lovely place to relax and unwind
We spent 2 weeks at this lovely villa. We found it a great place to relax amongst the lavender and olive trees; enjoy the beautiful views, good food, weather and swimming pool; as well as a convenient base to go and explore Assisi, Montone. We loved joining Anna and Franco for some meals; and found everyone very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend to others.
Luxury, privacy, tranquility -- and gourmet meals!
Casale Napoletano provided a well deserved and much needed break from the harried pace of city life. We found the Villa to be spectacular and absolutely charming. The home is well apportioned with all the latest features that one would expect in a modern 21st century home in a major metropolitan city in the US, but it's located in a completely renovated and tastefully decorated Italian farmhouse in the Umbrian hills. We were two families with two children each (ages 10-9-8-7), along with an older couple for a total of 10 people. We never felt crowded, and enjoyed dining in the kitchen, as well as al fresco on the patio. The swimming pool overlooking the valley and mountains is breathtaking.
We HIGHLY recommend contracting some of the catering options offered by Mike. A "cena rustica" catered by Franco and Anna at their Casata was spectacular --- a bountiful harvest of delicious antipasto, freshly made crostini, hand made potato-truffle gnocchi, grilled sausage, chicken, steak, and lamb chops -- left us wanting for nothing. A Pizza Night - again catered by Franco and Anna at the Casata -- was the best pizza (16 different ones!) we've ever tasted in our lives. (Note to self: Need to include the outdoor brick pizza oven in the patio renovation plans!). Another delicious meal to have catered in by Franca and Sabrina - homemade tagliatelle with wild boar sauce, various crostini & bruschetta, and homemade tiramisu -- all was to die for.
While the house is outfitted with air conditioning, we found no need to use it -- located on the mountainside, simply keeping the windows open at night, and then closing sun-facing shutters in the daytime kept the house cool and extremely comfortable. Situated roughly two hours north of Rome, and two hours south of Florence, we found the location to be ideal for conducting day trips to some of the cities and towns we had only read about or seen in the movies. Assisi, Perugia, Montone, Siena -- were all locations that were anywhere from 10 minutes to 90 minutes away -- plenty close to conduct day trips. After so many day trips, there came a time where we just wanted to spend time at the pool and relax at the house -- and Casale Napoletano was IDEAL for that!

It was absolutely amazing, the pictures don't come close to the actual space. Nobody could want anything more, the house was truly beautiful and so easy to live in, the pool was crystal clear and inviting, the amenities were more than any one could expect, and I can't wait to come back.
