The Stemwinder Solar Lodge is Simply Kimberley's newest property located at the base of Kimberley Alpine Resort base. Fully powered by the sun, this is Kimberley's only vacation rental property to sleep 12 in individual real beds (no pull-outs) and all the amenities you need; hot tub, wood-burning stove, pool table, wet bar, garage, poker/games table and library and an easy stroll to the resort base. Price discounted in winter if you don't need all 8 rooms!
Tod and Alicia, the owners, are tourism professional operating Simply Kimberley, a vacation management company focusing on our premium properties. As our Google Reviews show, we live and breathe Kimberley tourism. The Stemwinder Solar Lodge is set up for contactless check-in with keyless entry. The door and garage codes are shared before your arrival.
Stemwinder Drive is the main entrance to the Kimberley Alpine Resort base area. Note, you can cross-country ski from the back door over to the Trickle Creek golf course where XC skiing is permitted. In summer, it's a 5-minute walk to Trickle Creek Golf Course although most of our golf groups choose our golf-shuttle option.
Most guests arrive by car. However, if you’d like a private shuttle, our transportation business, Resort Tours and Transportation, provides charter transportation from YXC, YYC or FCA (Kalispell). In summer, our primary clientele is golf groups who enjoy our packaged green fees with our daily shuttles.
The Stemwinder Solar Lodge has access to the neighbouring paths and 160+ km of biking and hiking trails. The property itself is accessed through the front door (with wheelchair ramp), ground-level back entrance or the single-car garage.
This lodge has a serious “WOW” factor. You step into a huge entrance room through the french doors. The front entrance also has a common area half-bath perfect after a long-drive or for entertaining. Drop your footwear and head into the main living space with the kitchen, custom-built dining table, wood-burning stove opening to the 10' by 10' leather sectional. After a long day of golf, skiing or mountain biking, retire to the bubbling jets of the hot tub or kick-back around the back deck fire table (spring 2026). When it’s time to retire, find your bedroom and you’ll hear peace and quiet of the Purcell Mountains whispering your name.
Improvements: * high-capacity heat pump installed in June 2024. * paved front driveway completed in May 2024 * 24.3 kW solar generation installed in May 2024 > the lodge produces 150% of it's power requirements from the sun! * remodelled lower level in Nov 2025 > three carpeted bedrooms, durable vinyl plank in the TV/games room, new wet bar with peninsula. Amenities include a large capacity ice maker, dishwasher, fridge. Furniture includes a new deep-seating sectional, bar stools to watch the billiard game or the 65" UHD Smart TV.
A free mountain to town ski hill shuttle is available during winter operated by the City of Kimberley. Our sister-company, Resort Tours runs a fleet of charter vehicles available for private charter.
Kimberley's Stemwinder Solar Lodge is NOTHING short of spectacular. This custom-finished, 5000 sq foot lodge is 500m from the main chairlift and across the street from the Trickle Cr. golf course. It's the perfect property for ski groups in winter and 12-person golf groups in summer. You'll bask under the golden larches (of the new mural) while warming by the wood-burning stove!
The Stemwinder Solar Lodge is modelled after a European chalet with eight private bedrooms. Six of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and two of the bedrooms off the games room, share a full bath. There is a main-floor, half-bath near the front entrance. We recognize the lodge may feel grand but trust us, it's COZY. Please contact us to discuss your group and our winter rates are often negotiable based on group size.
The main floor hosts the master bedroom with a king bed and a twin bed plus wheelchair accessible shower. This bedroom also has its own private door out to the back deck. The upper floor has four bedrooms, each with a private bath. Three of the four upper-floor bedrooms have a king or queen plus a twin bed; the fourth has a single queen. The open common area of the upper floor houses a 6-person card table, and the library shelves are loaded with books and games. The open area also has a sitting area with a 55" + Smart TV with Telus Optik sports package. The upper front deck is the perfect place for sunset and to watch the Purcell Mountains retreat into dusk.
The lower-level bedroom (bdrm 6) has a king with ensuite bathroom. Bedroom 7 has a double bed, and bdrm 8 has a queen bed. These two bedrooms are super cozy and share a full bathroom. They are accessed down the hall from the TV / games room.
The former suite (2 bedrooms + 1 bath) has become the TV/games room with wet ba, billiard table, 65" UHD TV and ice-maker. Accessible out the french doors is the hot tub and backyard yard games zone with cornhole, ladder golf and bocce provided. In spring 2025, a putting-green style, 40' by 8' bocce pit with landscape grass was installed creating the ideal place to hang out before retreating indoors.
The living room has been designed as the ultimate place to relax yet be in the action. A wood-burning stove for both heat and ambiance provides a glow to this hang-out space. An absolutely beautiful dining table was crafted on the West Coast in 2024 and comfortably seats 14-16 with matching coffee table and oversized bench with a lambskin throw. The kitchen is well-equipped with the equipment and amenities needed for hosting a large group. The kitchen island provides an additional four-person seating.
This is a wheel-chair friendly lodge with an accessible entry ramp and wheel-in bathroom and shower on the master, main floor bedroom. The only accessible property on Stemwinder Drive at Kimberley Alpine Resort!
The City of Kimberley is governed by a Good Neighbour Bylaw and our quiet hours of 10 PM - 7 AM must be respected. Stemwinder Drive is a mixed street of full-time residences and vacation rentals. To protect our property and to respect our neighbours, the Stemwinder Lodge is NOT a “party home”. While we encourage our guests to have a good time, please contact us to help rent condos for your group if you're coming to Kimberley to seriously party. We operate with License STRU 2024-005 and are permitted up to 12 adult occupants. We own and/or operate five properties on Stemwinder Drive and thus can accommodate larger groups. Please contact us early as we book up early.
For additional security purposes, the front door's exterior is monitored by an Ecobee Smart Camera doorbell and the back deck has a Minut device installed to monitor and report real-time noise decibel levels. We take our Good Neighbour responsibility seriously.

Amazing! Can’t wait to come back!
What an AMAZING lodge! Our family of five had the luxury of sneaking off to meet our extended family (three generations) over the kid's fall break from school. Our family from the Okanagan met us halfway (we're from Calgary) at the beautiful Stemwinder Lodge in Kimberley. The fire was blazing, the hot tub was hot, and the reading space in the loft was so comfortable. Meal prep was a blast, new appliances and an extra fridge in the garage, wowzers.
We can see how much work the owners are putting into this property and what a gem it is. It's rare to find a property with so many bathrooms and space to get away. The property is freshly painted, the mattresses are super comfortable and every room has its own private bathroom. We'll definitely be coming back to the Stemwinder Lodge.

Dream House in an Amazing Location
Everything about our experience was great.
Staring with the communication with the host, to our arrival with the wood burning stove already lit when we arrived, to our entire stay and our eventual departure - everything was top notch.
The house was beyond or expectations. It surpassed what was advertised. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of usable space. The new handcrafted dining table is an wonderful feature for large groups to enjoy.
Six of the eight bedrooms have nice ensuites, with the last two remaining bedrooms sharing one. The last half bath is conveniently located on the main floor directly by the entrance.
Plenty of large comfy chairs and couches surround the matching handmade coffee table. The grand staircase is also an awesome feature of this house.
This is an excellent place for multiple families or any large group to relax as they enjoy all that Kimberley has to offer.
