Great weekend trip!

Stayed here for a quick weekend trip to Michigan to go to St. Joseph’s beach. Was a great, quiet location and had everything we needed. Communicated with the host before the stay about some amenities and got very quick and helpful replies.

Nice house near st Joe

We had a lovely stay at this property! House is a little off the beaten path but we felt safe. Air conditioning unit worked really well and the fan in the bedroom was great. Overall a great stay.

I definitely would have chosen a different destination had I known that the ONLY window air was a 10,000 btu window which is suitable for up 300sq ft. It was a disgusting 81 degrees in there for our first evening and night. I understand the area is expensive and a huge tourist attraction, however inadequate air conditioning and only two ceiling fans is unacceptable. The host was contacted and offered cancellation (still charging us for 1 night and the cleaning fee) but it was the 4th of July weekend and no where in the price range was available without risking worse conditions. Two hours were spent looking for another option with no empathy from host regarding time and hassle. Ended up spending extra for two fans and having to use extra bedding as window covers to help block the sun as there are no curtains. Country side? No….. high crime and extremely desolated area. If you don’t mind sweating profusely and extra roommates, it’s perfect for you! Bugs galore!! Ants, beetles, spiders, mosquitoes are the true full time residents. Probably entering through the gaps around the front/back door and window air that all let the sun shine through. Clean? For the most part, again if you’re ok sharing your bed with insects and don’t mind cleaning the drop of blood or stool that was left on the side of bathtub. The water stinks and leaves an oily film. The floor is uneven and whatever type of flooring was used is screwed in. Looks cute and clean! Looks can be deceiving.

I understand that the property did not meet your high expectations, but the property's description and location, as listed on VRBO, are accurate. The house is small and has window AC units, which has been sufficient to provide for comfortable stay. While we cannot control the weather (and you did stay during the heatwave), we were apologetic, responded to numerous messages you sent, and did offer a refund. You decided not to take the offer because the rates in area are significantly higher than $200-$280/night we charged for your stay. As for bugs, the house is thoroughly cleaned before each guset arrives, but it being in Michigan's countryside, it should be expected that few small bugs may make it way into the house.

Wedding weekend

The property was clean and comfortable and was all we needed for a couple of nights. It was as described in the listing.It seems to be a little hidden gem as other properties on the same street appear dilapidated and neglected.

Clean, not comfy

This home was generally neat and clean and communication with the host was great! The home is a little warm in the summer, though the home has a window unit that worked well. There were a couple of drawbacks - the beds were not very comfortable and we noticed several spiders throughout the home. There were also no bath products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) and the location is a little isolated. Not a terrible stay, but could have been more comfortable.

Listing isn’t as described….

First off the host is decently nice! The property is absolutely not as described. The listing states “air condition” there is a small window unit in the living room. There is zero central air or units in the bedrooms. Small bugs in the first bedroom. Ant invasion in the bathroom! Zero trash in bathroom, which is bothersome as a woman. Was told ubering to the local “Blue Dress Barn shouldn’t be a problem” but it was! Getting an Uber anywhere was an absolute nightmare. Neighbor is probably a member of the Clampett family! My biggest complaint is the listing states wheelchair or handicap suitable. There is a slope in the main room that your wheelchair will continuously roll down. That is if you are able to wheel yourself up the 3 front door steps as there is no ramp. You will need to get out of your wheelchair to get into the bathroom because the entry space between the bath and washing area isn’t big enough. Overall, if you need additional accommodations, like a wheelchair, this isn’t for you. My husband ended up booking a local hotel that had accommodations for me. I did message the host telling her about the bugs and ubering situation and was told “sorry it didn’t work out”.

Crystal, thank you for your review. We will address some of the issues you noted. The property is not wheelchair accessible, but the listing did not note that it was. It is a small house in the countryside.

Great little house in Benton Harbor. We were playing golf in the area and it was a good central location to a ton of beautiful courses. The backyard is huge and has a really nice fire pit area. Host was very easy to reach and talked us through minor snag getting checked in. Would highly recommend this host and house.
