This house worked very well for our large family group. My husband is 90 and disabled but was able to pull himself up the front half flight of stairs. Then he stayed inside all week. We had the king bedroom w private bath right next to the kitchen and living room. He enjoyed reading on the deck. 4 other rooms have queen beds; 1 has a double w twin top bunk. Mattresses were comfortable; there were plenty of towels and lots of supplies in kitchen and the 4 baths (more than the usual starter supplies). The kitchen was well supplied w pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc.The rest of us love hiking and nature. We loved being able to walk 2 short blocks to the Shamokin Nature preserve w easy access to the Old Appalachian Trail and several other connected trails of varying levels of difficulty. We had a great time together w 3 generations. Sorry, I tried to post 4 photos but wasnât able to.
They owners should list this as a fairytale cabin in the mountains!
First of all, wow! The house was gorgeous! I am in a military family, and it has been almost a decade since we have all been under one roof. There were 14 of us staying there, with 7 others joining us for dinner. I was afraid so many people under one roof would be way too much, but there was so much space! I'm going to cherish the memories made there!
The house itself was very nice. The bedroom layout is ideal for multiple families. The open kitchen/dining/living room upstairs is great for gathering. Overall the house was clean, but could definitely use a deep clean behind furniture, in corners, etc. The starter toiletries were a nice touch. We were very disappointed that there was no hot tub. We booked this spot because it was pet friendly and advertised a hot tub. We reached out to the property manager, they were very responsive, but ultimately just said there was a mistake in the listing. They did offer to allow us to upgrade to a different property, but we had already unpacked everything and we did not feel like we should have to pay more for what was advertised in our listing. I would have preferred a discounted nightly rate, but that was not offered.
We would definitely rent this house again if there is ever a hot tub added. I did see the listing was updated and the amenity of the hot tub was removed.
