We really enjoyed our stay! The location was fantastic. The charm of the older home was cozy yet still gave us space from the kids. We loved being on the water and enjoyed swimming and floating in the shallows. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Amazing location! The property is exactly as described. The chairs in the living room offer an amazing view of the lake and its serenity. We were lucky enough to have some rain and the sounds are very soothing. The yard is beautiful and the Hydrangea on the side of the patio is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Communication with the hosts is top notch.
Really lovely property and perfect location. Itâs a cool older home, and definitely has a family feel to it. Easy access to so many Hot Springs attractions-specifically Garvan Woodland Gardens, Tiny Town, and Bathhouse Row. Beautiful view from the porch, patio, or yard. Would be lovely during the summer, but was absolutely perfect for our Spring Break getaway.
The view from this home is amazing. The house is right on the water with a balcony and a patio. There is plenty of sleeping arrangements for guest. Craig and Sharon are very responsive and great host.
The house was very clean and cozy and the host were amazing. They made sure the house was clean from the guest the night before and even let us in 3 hours early. We will definitely book again. It was super easy to talk to them and access the property.
We had an amazing time. Could not have asked for a better view. We really enjoyed our experience. Friendly helpful hosts. Would definitely stay again!!!
This had two awesome views. It looks like having live painting in the master bed and living room of lake Hampton. Owners were great. I would recommend this property. Awesome stay!!!
Great place to stay. We will return. Absolutely no problems. Great view and close enough to whatever you want to do. No doubt this is a great property to stay. Wish we could havestayed longer.
Very clean and well kept. Could not have asked more.
We had a girl's weekend and had a wonderful time. The captain's lake house is great. It's so comfortable and the view is so pretty. We enjoyed the large deck so much. Thanks Sharon and Craig for such a wonderful place!!
Beautiful view and access to swimming in lake and dock.
Bring soap for showers as itâs not provided
Donât advise for elderly due to floor plan has lots of levels throughout house
My family and pets enjoyed the beautiful serenity of Lake Hamilton. Captains Retreat has the most beautiful views and supplied us with everything we needed to enjoy and relax. Sharon and Craig were gracious host. Thank you Craig for telling us about the Fourth of July fireworks that we were able to view perfectly from the dock. We definitely look forward to our next visit.
It was a great place to stay our family had a blast. We fished from the dock and swam right at the house. It had covered boat slip which was very nice and secure to pull your boat in. The house was great for our family. My teenagers had there own are downstairs with bathroom, and the adults stayed in the upstairs 2 bedrooms. The bigger bedroom upstairs had a amazing view of the lake. I would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful view and outside patio, but other parts lacking
This property is located on Lake Hamilton and easy to get to off Highway 7. The house is small with 2 bedrooms upstairs (one king and one full) and one small bathroom. There is a kitchen and living room that over looks the lake. The basement has a living room that has a couch and a bunk bed. There is another bathroom. ALL the bathrooms have the original fixtures from the 1960s. I like vintage, but at the same time kind of creepy. My biggest problem was the different height of the floor plan. The kitchen dinning room was about 8 inches up from the living room and then the upstairs bedroom and bathrooms were up 8 inches too. My parents were with us and this is a BIG fall risk for the old or very young.
The kitchen was not equipped with anything halfway new and when you opened the cabinets a old musty smell crept out. The towels in the basement were as old as the house. If you are going to be on the Lake and don't mind some odor, bad towels, moist environment and a fall risk. This place would work.
I moved to Hot Springs in 1983 when, along with my family, I relocated the Belle of Hot Springs Riverboat from Iowa and continue to own and pilot the boat on dinner and sightseeing cruises on Lake Hamilton. During hunting season I am up a tree, literally, waiting for the trophy buck to walk by. Athletics plays a large role in my life. I participate in softball and basketball leagues and have won several medals in the Senior Olympics. I have two daughters and two granddaughters living in the Hot Springs area.
My family and I lived in this home for 15 years prior to making it a vacation rental and loved every day spent there. The home is located on an island with one road in and out keeping traffic to a minimum, making it inviting to take a walk or jog. It is located about 5 miles from the racetrack and 7 miles from the downtown area. Other attractions include Magic Springs and Crystal Falls amusement and water park, Fordyce Bath House which the U.S. Government spent $5.5 million restoring to its original condition (be sure to take the free tour) and several museums and art galleries.
The property is directly on the lake's main channel. The home is actually on an island making it quiet and secluded yet close to shopping, restaurants and attractions.
