Lighthouse Bungalow is a quaint country farmhouse with adjacent 4 acres (groomed) which allows guest the time to relax, refuel, and experience life in a private country setting. A great place to observe stars, wildlife, and a wonderful place to slow down from the fast pace of life. This vacation rental is in the Driftless Area of Southwest WI which has some incredible amenities to explore which are vastly different from other areas of Wisconsin.

This rental is very close to a large network of ATV/UTV trails in Lafayette and Grant County, WI.

Come Stargaze, enjoy a picnic, make smores, enjoy a campfire, sleep outdoors! There are apple trees, grape vines and asparagus on the property.

Visit the Tri-State area from this property; UW Platteville is 18 miles, Galena, IL is 22 miles, Dubuque IA is 26 miles, Madison WI is 1 hour and 20 minutes away.
Enjoy the 4 local State Parks; Gov. Dodge is 33 miles, Yellowstone is 27 miles, Wylusing is 61 miles, and Nelson Dewey is 44 miles. Don't forget, we are 20 miles from the Mississippi River, you can fish from the O'Leary Lake or on the Mississippi River!

Our location is conveniently located in the heart of farm country southwest Wisconsin. You can take your boat out to the lake and return home to a quiet setting with your family for the rest of the evening! Yellowstone Lake is closest to this location.

End of the year getaway

Really enjoyed this typical cozy Wisconsin farmhouse. The owners were easy to communicate with and responsive. Loved the silo that was converted into a lighthouse. It’s a clean property and well worth the visit!

Well stocked with necessities. We did not need anything else. Quiet and peaceful. I bet it was a great house to grow up in.

Family reunion

We had a family reunion in Benton and booked this place because it was nearby and we were intrigued by a lighthouse in the middle of corn fields. The house is comfortable and the grounds were lovely. It was so relaxing to stay there.

Peaceful, Beauty

We had a great time Thrift shopping, enjoying the Fall scenery, and the peaceful quiet of the Farm house location. We were not lacking in anything I can think of. In fact I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the game tables and light house more. This is a Cozy Home! I do need to recommend Louisburg Junction Supper Club. You will want reservations.

We made wonderful memories!

We had a wonderful time at during a long weekend. The lighthouse and the large yard was a great for the kids - 5 through 16 - to explore! We were able to bring our dog and the the fully functional kitchen made the trip even better!

Peaceful, open-spaced retreat

This was our third time staying in this comfortable home with old farmhouse charm and places within a beautiful and peaceful setting. The fact that we returned and will continue to do so speaks for itself.

wonderful get away

Went to visit our college student in Platteville. The property was clean, and the yard was large. Basketball and outdoor hoop, pool and ping pong table. Perfect star gazing and lots of room for your dog to run and sniff but still be nearby. Our teens loved having their own rooms and enough space for us to relax together. Also, there were lots of pamphlets for ideas of things to see and do. If you are looking for a getaway that is a getaway but still close to visit and check out towns around WI, IA and IL this is a great choice.

Great place to gather with your family!

Went Labor Day weekend with my brother, his wife, and their grown children and spouses(ages 18-62). Couldn't have picked a better place! The farm is a great place to just relax, or to play some family games. We had a scavenger hunt while we were there, a couple of Nerf gun "wars" broke out, and of course everyone spent some time in the lighthouse. We all had a lot of fun, and would definitely go back again.

When we discovered this property was available, we jumped at the chance to book! This property was once owned by our grandparents. Farmhouse Retreat

We were in the area for a family wedding. Our family enjoyed our stay in the heart of farm country in your cozy home. The kids enjoyed climbing to the top of the lighthouse and looking out into the fields. The area is very quiet and tranquil. It was nice to see the starry nights. The home is clean and well stocked with all of the necessities. It had everything we needed. I have already recommended this home to other family members that will visit in the area.

Great weekend away

We stayed here to visit our son at UW-Platteville. We were centrally located so we were able to go to campus, Galena and still have a home base to relax at night. Being able to bring our fur babies was definitely a bonus! The visit to the top of the lighthouse was a unique experience and very memorable. Super clean house! Best stocked VRBO I have been too! Definitely would go back! Thank you for sharing your property.

Magical place!

What an amazing time we had at this farmhouse/lighthouse getaway. Upon arrival, my kids shrieked with delight, launching themselves from the car to run straight to the lighthouse. We were all amazed at the view of the beautiful countryside all around us, what a sunset we caught. They were then thrilled to discover the pool table and ping pong table in the garage. The next morning they did a little more exploring, finding the apple trees on the property, plus a dinner bell which they delighted in giving a clang. The house itself is so homey, well stocked with everything you might need including a nice selection of spices if you plan to cook. We took advantage of the dvd selection and curled up for a family movie night, and also pulled out some of the games available in the basement. It was an easy drive for us into Galena one day to visit all the shops, then to Dubuque the next day to visit the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium and the Fenelon Place Elevator. I’m a huge fan of lighthouses, so for me, the best part was waking up to see the lighthouse as the sun rose, and taking a trip up to the top whenever we liked to sit & snack, enjoying the view and our time together. One of the best VRBOs we’ve been to by far, thanks for letting us stay!

Robert (Bob) Carns originally bought this property in 1999 for his future place of retirement. He had lived here up until October of 2018 and then moved to an acreage near Dickeyville after his marriage to Elaine. He has a very strong tie to this property and has done a lot of work fixing up the house and adjacent buildings and has turned an old cement silo into the current Lighthouse and does not want to sell the property. Instead, Bob and Elaine work effortlessly to maintain the Lighthouse Bungalow and preserve it's attributes.
The rental property has been in the works for awhile. Bob's daughter Nina is the former property manager, and we regret to announce that she suddenly passed away.
She loved this property and will truly be missed by family and the many folks she interacted with when she managed this property (since 2020).

Ath the top of the Lighthouse you can see for many miles in each direction. This area centers between several main cities, attractions and is not far from the Madison Airport. You can enjoy a day at the lake, be a tourist in Galena, visit the River Museum in Dubuque, travel to the zoo in Madison or just kick back and relax in the countryside. The tri-state area (Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa) has much to offer your free time.
