This Lovely Cottage sitting on one of the most desirable streets in South Torrance, this home is one of the famed "Story book Houses" with pitched roof, quaint front porch and white picket fence. These homes evoke a charming feeling of yester-year, reminiscent of a simpler time of authenticity, . Downstairs you'll find a remodeled country kitchen with chef's grade appliances (Viking stove, Sub-Zero fridge), wine fridge, living room with fireplace, dining area, family room, two bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and another bathroom. Think the house is great? The back yard is amazing! There are multiple access points to the huge backyard featuring a built in outdoor kitchen with BBQ, refrigerator and sink, stamped concrete, spa, and eight foot deep pool with diving board. This home is a short walk to Sea-Aire Golf Course, and the most festive Christmas holiday lights display the South Bay has to offer and 2 miles drive to the Torrance Beach or 3 miles to Redondo Beach

Hot tub wasn’t ready. Needed to be drained, cleaned and refilled. We lost 2 days of usage. Pool needed to be cleaned and pump wasn’t on. Sewage backed up into front yard and overflowed. Needed to stay till plumber arrived. Asked for partial refund but no reply. When problems fixed, everything fine. Appliances were all new.

Great location and amenities

This house was a great fit for 4 adults – large kitchen and dining area, comfortable beds, hot tub, quiet location, and beautiful neighborhood. (They did have furnishings and equipment for babies, too.) Even if you have never played golf, I highly recommend walking up the hill to the city park to play a fun round on their 9 hole short course. The house is older so it is worn in places but in good condition. Although clean on the surface, the four star rating is because it needs a deep clean.

Nice location, house needs a little attention. Would have been nice to swim, needs a pool heater. Beds were very comfortable. The house and outside area was nice.

Lovely stay in a well-equipped house.

Great stay in a lovely and very well-equipped cottage. The house had everything we needed for a stay of 7 days as a family with two kids. The location was, although not that close to the sea, in a very nice quiet neighbourhood. The house in itself was cosy and had a wonderful atmosphere. We would stay here again if we were in the area and needed a home away from home.

Great place to stay

This place was very clean and just as advertised. And our host was very quick to respond to every message sent. I do have to apologize for not cleaning as much as we would have liked prior to leaving. A late final night and early morning departure curtailed our intentions, so I apologize for that. And thank you for letting us stay in your home. It was a great experience and would definitely recommend. The hot tub and pool were used multiple times and were a great added bonus!

Wonderful place

We had a great time at this place--it was as described. Lots of light coming into the living room/dining room area--central to our get-togethers. We enjoyed the backyard with the hot tub and pool. I walked down to the beach or explored the beautiful neighborhood every day. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful family home

Such a lovely place for making memories with family. Equipment for babies on premises. Light-filled home, large well equipped kitchen. Backyard oasis. It was better than we had hoped for, and we’ll never forget the fun we had here.

Nice House

The house was very nice and roomy for us. Except for no dish towels or hand towels the house was well supplied. Oven took a long time to heat up but did work. All in all we enjoyed especially the hot tub!

Great Stay in the South Bay!

This was our second stay at "Lovely Cottage..." and we love this house. The owners are so easy to communicate with and they respond almost immediately to questions via the VRBO app. Our flight from the east coast arrived early at 8:45am and although check in was not until 3:00pm we messaged the owners requesting early check in. They said the property was ready and allowed us to check in around 12:00pm noon. We lived in Torrance for many years, practically in the same neighborhood so we know the area very well. It always feels like coming home when we stay here. I highly recommend "Lovely Cottage...". We are already looking forward to our next trip back home to Torrance and our stay at this awesome house.

Great Location

This house was in a nice neighborhood and situated closely to shopping, dining, beach and more. We enjoyed the hot tub almost every day. The outdoor kitchen is a nice touch. A small park is within walking distance which made it nice for our kiddos. There is multiple opportunities for improvement that could make this a 5 start stay: overall cleanliness, no broom/vacuum to clean, pool heater not working so the pool was freezing, no wash cloths/hand towels or pool towels, couch was covered but kept slipping off and needs cleaned, the bed in the upstairs small guest room needs replaced as the mattress sinks to the middle, buildup in the tub/shower areas.

The location is excellent. It's a short drive to everything we need. We did encounter some issues such as light bulb at the upstairs bathroom started to smoke. We contacted the host and was immediately repaired. We were not able to use the swimming pool because the water was cold and maintenance was done on a Friday until Saturday and was not available to use. The outdoor facilities such as patio chairs, tables are very dusty. The kitchen faucet and bathroom faucet seem to be on hot and quite difficult to get cold water. Other than those, my grandkids were happy and we had a great time.

Thanksgiving stay

We stayed here for Thanksgiving...however, ther was a double oven...the large side didn't work. We ended up squeezing our turkey into the small little oven, then had to bake all the side dishes one at a time after the turkey. The owner dropped a nice gift card to make up for the inconvenience. They couldn't get a repairman to respond because of the holiday. The hot tub was Luke warm when we arrived. The digital displays were clouded over so you couldn't read them . So, figuring out how to increase temp was impossible. So, we didn't use it. They were missing some of the basics in the kitchen. Couldn't find a can opener that worked. Some of the cupboard doors were jacked up and wouldn't close...we had a toddler so it was a bit bothersome. The backyard was lovely. The owners communicated well. The house overall was comfortable and had some great potential...but needed touchup paint indoors to make it look fresh.

“Cottage” in South Torrance needs renovation

The description is misleading. I guess that “cottage” means “run down”. The house would be acceptable, even quite nice if the owners took the care to update it to today’s rental standards. The owners clearly do not care about giving their clientèle a positive experience. The bathrooms, doors and windows are terribly run down, probably have never been renovated. The upstairs bathroom sink is too small to even wash one’s face, and no countertop. The kitchen dishes were mismatched and chipped—the best ones had a Christmas design. The dishes and frypans were probably leftover from the 70s, as were the bedsheets—synthetic and non-matching bedsheets. Having said that, the backyard and pool area was lovely as is the neighborhood. In my view, it would be of minimal cost to bring the rental up-to-date considering the price the owners ask. It is quite insulting to veteran travelers/house renters to find this level of 30 or 40-year old remants of dishes, sheets and toys in the cabinets, and bathrooms that are not up to standard. My husband had to wait all day for the So.Cal gas technician to show up to investigate a bad gas smell one morning. Very disappointing and not up to usual VRBO standards.

Great Location, Poor Condition

I'll summarizes what we encountered as best as possible to provide a true report of the condition and usability: Pros: * The house was located in a nice neighborhood with Redondo Beach and Redondo Pier nearby. * Layout of the house is good, with 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs, though one of the downstairs bedrooms was a pass-thru room to the laundry. Cons: most everything else. * The condition of the house was so poor that we departed one-day early. * Beds were made and things looked tidy at first, but otherwise it didn't look very or feel clean. * Pillows and mattress covers are badly stained, including the ones on at least one bed on arrival. * Dirty light switches, dirty windows and counters in the kitchen. * Floors didn't appear vacuumed or cleaned in a long time with hair and dust balls around/under beds and furniture. * MOLD on nearly every window sill and tracks, especially in the downstairs bedroom which we found after lifting the blinds. I say found, because 3 of our 5 family members started coughing pretty bad the day after we arrived and it lingered until the evening after we left, which was a day early. We had windows cracked every night just to try and air out the house a bit. * The stove and oven did not function properly, which a previous guest noted that one side didn't work back in the fall, but we couldn't get either side to work, only a couple of the stove top burners. Many more negatives but review length is capped. Would NOT stay again!

Wedding vacation

Our stay in Torrance was excellent. The house was clean and comfortable. The only things that I would suggest would be:1 - There were no washcloths and we had to borrow some from a relative that lived nearby. More towels and some washcloths would be good.2 - A larger pan for cooking would be appreciated. Something either 10" or 12".3 - The hot tub obviously hadn't been used in a while and wasn't too clean inside. And, of course, the pool was cold!Other than that - we had a great time in the house.
