This was a great place to stay for a long weekend. The views were outstanding. It had everything we needed and more. My only complaint is the shower, it could use an upgrade or at least new knobs to control the water.
Our stay was excellent. We enjoyed everything about the cabin. It has everything you could ask for- cooking essentials, comfy furniture, porch w/mountain views, fire pit...it has it all. And the property is beautifully maintained. We saw bunnies, wild turkey, and a groundhog (we think). The short trail behind the cabin was especially nice to explore with our dogs. We would stay again!
This was one of the best stays ive had at a vacation rental. It comes exactly as advertised and there are plenty of personal touches added to the stay to make it even better. I was very pleased, the owners definitely take care of you and make the stay feel like a private get away. After the stay I recommended this to a friend within a few hours of leaving.
Weâve been coming to Judyâs cabins for several years now! It always feels like home, communication is always great, cabin is exceptionally clean and stocked with all necessities. We look forward to this cabin every year!
We love this property and the area. The cabin is cozy and so clean. The porch is so nice and faces a beautiful mountain with lovely views of the woods. The owners are right there and help whenever needed. Donât forget the hot tub that makes the place complete.
I was solo traveling with my dog and Judyâs place was great. Convenient to town, hiking and the National Park. The cabin was cozy and safe! Even got eggs from the onsite chickens. Only thing I will mention, is there are a two cabins on the property and the other one is close to this cabin. You do get the noise of their comings and goings. Overall, very much enjoyed my stay and will be back!
Second time there, rains every time đ€Ł. Had a nice quiet stay. Shower smaller than I remember but Was able to get cleaned up. Very close to town and has a grill and everything you need if you like to cook!
This was one of the best vacation rentals weâve stayed in. Beautiful surroundings in a woodsy and mountain setting and so quiet and peaceful! Yet close to anything we wanted to do. Host very responsive if we had an issue, though there were few. Pup loved it too! Highly recommend!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Dream Cabin! The pictures don't do it justice. Its such a lovely cabin surrounded by beautiful views and nature. Judy and John were excellent hosts who went above and beyond. The whole property has so many nice little touches and they thought of everything. We will definitely come back and stay again.
We stayed for a weekend for a family wedding and didn't want to do the hotel thing. We also had 2 labs. We were in dream cabin -- it's exactly as pictured but the views are better than expected. The dogs loved the area to play fetch. It was easy parking and turn around. The hot tub was to die for - sitting in the tub and looking out over the valley was just what the mind and body needed! Communication was swift with the homeowner. Thank you for a great stay!
We stayed at this rental for our honeymoon. It was a very cute little cabin and it felt very homey. But I wish we would've known in late January it is considered "off-season" and there was nothing open. We did find a beautiful waterfall and went on a few hikes but we end up leaving a day early because we were bored and had nothing to do. We will probably come back again but not in January.

Great quiet getaway spot for New Years Eve
We have stayed in The Dream Cabin several times previous to last weekend. Previous stays were in warmer weather. Cabin was very comfortable even with the single digit weather. Judy's girls were not producing eggs which we missed. Our previous stay was over a year ago and items (make-up bag and hair straightener) we accidently left behind were still there! What a bonus that was. Highly recommend a visit to Howell's at the Moon Farm.
We love the Smokie Mountains and Waynesville is quaint and charming with mountain views everywhere, a main street with shops and restaurants, and easy access to the Smokies Pisgah National Forest, the Dragon and the Rattler ( if you like to ride). We were challenged to get our front wheel drive truck to pull a trailer up the gravel road to the cabin, but Judy and John had no problem letting us leave the trailer near the bottom of the hill and we had plenty of room for the bike and truck in front of the Dream cabin. The cabin is cozy and rustic, and equipped with all the comforts of home. We spent a week there and took advantage of all the amenities, enjoying the grill and the hot tub, lighting fires in the fire pit and walking the grounds. We also partook of Judy's homemade peach jam, her bread and butter pickles, fresh eggs from her hens, and honey from her bees. We love Howells at the Moon and hope to return soon.
Love the Smoky Mountains and this cabin allowed us to travel all over on our motorcycle. We did have to trailer it on and off the mountain due to gravel road. Close to town. Great restaurants.
Big comfortable bed. My husband loved the jacuzzi.
Great cabin, super comfortably king bed, very private, super clean. All the kitchen supplies you would need (we cooked the entire stay) even supplied 1 dozen fresh farm eggs. Really good coffee (not a Keurig but a real coffee pot). Very pet friendly. Definitely one of our favorite places we have stayed at.
Itâs a great and cute little cabin, it was every clean and plenty of space for two adults. Being able to soak in the hot tub at night was a great addition to our stay, it was very relaxing. Very beautiful scenery, I would definitely stay again.
Thank you for allowing us to stay. We had a great time and hated to leave- we will definitely stay here in the future. Thank you again- for allowing us to make beautiful memories!
John and Judy Howell were working for the government in the DC area, and got married in narby Maggie Valley, NC. They fell in love with the area and began to look for property. They feel completely blessed to have found this beautiful slice of heaven, which they named Howells at the Moon Farm.
This property is so unique. It was an old farm and in the same family for a hundred years until early 2000. It's on 13 acres, surrounded by fields and forests, with spectacular mountain views. You will feel like you are isolated in nature, but you are in fact minutes away from towns, shopping and activities. It is, truly, the best of both worlds. This property has hiking trails, long range mountain views, mountain streams, and privacy.
From the front porch of the cabin, you can sit with a glass of wine or hot cup of coffee, and gaze at the mist in the fields or the spectacular view of the mountains. Listen to the sounds of nature and watch the fireflies dance in the evening. You will forget how hectic life can be when everything here is so tranquil. The cabin is cozy and comfortable; it's charm and hominess are to be enjoyed by couples, partners, friends, honeymooners, and folks looking to get away. The bed is comfy, outfitted in soft bed linens. After a day spent hiking or shopping, you will look forward to snuggling up in your nest. The living room has games and cards, but also has Roku TV, free Netflix and Wi-Fi for times when you want to 'plug back in'. You will love staying here; it's like your home away from home. The property will delight you and renew your spirit.
