Originally built in 1900, the house has been meticulously renovated to maintain the character of a traditional Catskills Farmhouse while offering the space and modern amenities you would expect in a well appointed home. The space
Situated over 5 private acres at the base of the Shandaken Wild Forest and off one of the most scenic roads in the Catskills, Mountain Creek Retreat welcomes guests seeking to be enveloped by nature, peace and tranquility. The house is thoughtfully designed to maximize connection between guests with multiple dining and gathering spaces indoors and outdoors. The grounds are large and lush in warmer months with massive hydrangea and willow bushes throughout. In autumn, enjoy being surrounded by leaf peeping splendor. In winter, walk amongst snow covered hemlocks and cozy up to the wood burning stove with a cup of hot chocolate.

House Layout:

First Floor - One of our favorite spaces in the house is the front porch which has multiple Adirondack chairs to enjoy the darkest night sky. Grab the telescope and experience the magic of stargazing with no light pollution.

Inside there are two living rooms. One with a cozy wood burning stove perfect for those cold nights after a day spent skiing. A second living room offers a sectional large enough to fit the entire family for movie night. A TV with sound bar, board games and guides. Near the front door there is a comfy reading nook to help you catch up on that book you've been meaning to finish. A private office is available should you need to work. There is also a full bathroom on this side of the house.

At the back of the house you will find a fully equipped state of the art chef's kitchen with a wine cooler and various coffee options. The kitchen is stocked with basics for your convenience. The dining room is surrounded by windows and seats 8 people for shared meals.

Second Floor - Upstairs there are four comfortable bedrooms with crisp white cotton linens. Bedroom one has a king bed, bedroom two has a queen bed and a sofa bed, bedroom three has a queen bed and bedroom four has two twins. There is also a second full bathroom upstairs.

Outdoor Space - The outdoor space is very large and wonderful for groups with children. There is a large fire pit with seating (wood is provided). A basketball hoop will keep the athletes entertained. There is a large dining table that seats 8 people as well as a gas barbecue should you wish to grill. Take a rest on the swing seat and take it all in!

Creek Access - You can access the creek at the back of the property near the barn. A sign points out the way down a small bank. It's a beautiful way to spend some time especially with little ones splashing around. Grab a bucket and go crayfish hunting!
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire house except for a locked owner's closet, basement and barn.
Other things to note
Wildlife in the Catskills - we are situated in the middle of the most beautiful area of the Catskills and nature abounds! You will likely see wildlife during your stay. It is common to see turtles and frogs near the pond and fish in the creek. You may see deer, turkeys, groundhogs, foxes, etc. Please note that we are in bear country. It is very important to discard of all garbage in the secure bear-proof bin. All bbq and food items should be brought inside and the bbq scraped clean after use to avoid having unwanted visitors. The house is regularly treated for pests.
