We were more than pleased with our stay! The property is beautiful and our cottage was comfortable, beautiful and ideal for us. Location wise, everything you could need is right there like fabulous eats, Publix, tackle shops, World Wide Sportsman (also easily accessed by boat) as well as some museums and attractions. Our cottage was bigger than it looked and beautifully bright with the practically wrap around windows looking into the gardens. The sunsets were beautiful and the marina well protected from the wind with direct access to channels that go everywhere. The property guests were quiet and some were repeats! Our host was super and we would highly recommend this property boater or not! There's an equipment rental company at the top of the driveway for paddle boards etc.
Just a mention: Safe Harbor Angler Marina is just down the channel and is a good place to launch and take your boat out, just call ahead of time and check times and rates, they reserve times for captains only. Smaller boats with low t-top (no towers) will fit the driveway, ramp and tree coverage at the property. Safe Harbor is about a 4 minute drive by boat or vehicle.
The location was perfect, we had our pick of many good restaurants and stores. The cottage was very clean and comfortable for the four of us. Very convenient having a ramp, dock for our boat and place to park our trailer. The resort is very quiet and peaceful with amazing sunsets đ . The owner Phyllis was very accommodating, we will certainly like to come back in the future. Thank you Phyllis for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. Bandos family
Beautiful 'compound'! All the conveniences, right on the bay, beautiful views. Very reasonable!
I have visited once in recent years...of all my trips to the Keys, this property is the best!! Perfect for our little family...the two of us & our dog. We will be back!
The property is so nice and large enough for two adults and two small dogs. we loved it but unfortunately had to leave because of a serious illness in our family. I was a bit surprised that I never heard anything when I called to announce our early departure however.
The keys villa had everything we needed. The property itself is beautiful and very conveniently located to everything in islamorada. The on-site marina was nice and the islamorada sand bar is about a 15 min boat ride away. If you want a tropical setting (palm trees, lush tropical vegetation) then this is the property for you. We will be back!
We had a delightful stay and everything was advertised. We had fun figuring out how to open the Murphy queen bed and it was comfortable for our girls. The big windows give the house a feeling of more space. Recommend the paddle board/kayak rental at Backcountry at the front end of the driveway. Sunsets are gorgeous!
We just returned from a week at Key Villa, and it was heaven on earth. We wouldnât change a thing! Will definitely recommend to anyone we know headed to Islamorada. Spotless, updated, and the location and view are perfect! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us, and for the fresh fruit you brought us! Hope to return next year!
Very nice property, convenient to everything with wonderful sunsets. Host extremely knowledgeable about Keys and willing to share her own beautiful garden and clippings with guests. Would love to come back when an opening becomes available!
We so enjoyed our two week stay at this lovely one bedroom one bath freestanding home with delightful fenced in patio with a peakaboo view of the bay. This wonderful Ranch home is also surrounded by lots of mature landscaping lending to the privacy and the overall beauty of the area. Close to a lot of activities, restaurants and shopping. Lots of outdoor activities nearby that we enjoyed such as kayaking, biking, scuba diving, golfing and walking our dog. Property owner was very responsive and pleasant. We even got a wonderful tour of her nearby homeâs extensive gardens along with cuttings from numerous lovely plants. Getting to know the other guests staying in the same area was pleasure as well, our dog ended up with a girlfriend doggieđ. By the end of our stay we felt like we were leaving our winter home getaway. We sure hope we can get a chance to stay there again next winter. Thanks Phyllis!
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. There was plenty of room for our pets and our boat! I know Tanner (our Golden Retriever) loved the ocean view; we did too!
The property owners are great, super nice and available for anything you may need. Lots of privacy and such a cool spot with everything you need in walking distance.
Location of this property is fantastic and central to everything and very close to the water. Place is clean and perfect for a couple. Only thing that needs work is the shower which is scalding, then cold, then scalding. Mrs. Mitchell is a sweetheart and made us wonderful fish dip and gave us a tour of her beautiful garden. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay.
We had such a lovely stay! It was all that we needed! Phyllis was so lovely! She brought us over delicious smoked fish dip and also gave us a tour of her garden and gave us clippings to take home! Everyone who stayed around us was so friendly. The place was pet friendly which is big for us bringing our two dogs. The sunsets every night were to die for. It was perfect for our boat to be able to keep it in the water the entire stay and it was protected. Hope to be back soon! We came from Pennsylvania!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Mitchellâs lodge. The location is perfect and the other guest were very friendly. The best part was the owner Phyllis. She brought over some delicious salmon dip with crackers and invited us to her beautiful garden to explore. She even gave us a few cuttings of her plants in which I just planted in our garden at home. We will definitely be back!

Adorable bungalow in a most beautiful setting. Location couldn't have been better... But the owners were the BEST!! thanks for the great hospitalityđ
A good location puts you in the heart of Islamorada on the bay side, but thatâs about it for pros. Unit is small & uncomfortable , 2 people is max, Murphy bed doesnât work, rattan furniture old & outdated, bed needs new mattress, W/D & dishwasher should only be run when you are out as they are cheap & loud. 2 crappy â14â flat screens, no âniceâ additions like beach chairs, swim stuff (noodles, rafts), kayak,SUP- owner squeezes every dime out of this rental & is unresponsive, even ornery when you do talk to her. There are definitely better places to stay!
We are Bob and Phyllis Mitchell and have loved the Keys since we moved to Florida in the late 60's. I was an airline pilot for 25 years and at the same time worked as the Marketing Manager for Florida Sportsman Magazine. I am now retired. Phyllis is a retired teacher and professor who now works as a volunteer to a long list of organizations from the local parks to looking out for abandoned or abused children in the Keys. We both are very community involved and are on many Village committees. We love fishing, especially when our grandchildren are visiting. We did many years of offshore fishing and after that many years of backcountry but are now slowing down on that. Our big love is plants and gardening and we love to keep the Villa property native and beautiful as well as our nearby house on an acre. We will be thrilled to give you a tour of the local plants and what we have done with the Villa property and ours.
We have loved the Keys since we moved to Florida in the late 60's. Within a few years we discovered the most delightful Keys hideout in Islamorada that is now the Keys Villa we own and rent. At the time it was a small non-typical motel with just a few units. The Villa is a small house on the property, comfortable for four people, and is free standing on an acre property with a free protected Marina. We keep it clean, constantly up-dated and remodeled, and very comfortable for our guests. The small town laid back atmosphere was very attractive but it took us until 1984 for this villa to come up for sale. There are three other rental accomodations, owned by friends, on the property so it is very quiet. We love it so much that we bought the property two doors north where we now live. We are nearby for your needs but not there unless you need us.
The property is so quiet with so few guests that folks naturally socialize. Nightly visits to the bay for the sunset, drinks and snacks become a norm. Maybe half the guests to the property are return people for years. A big hit is the occasional visits by an octopus which darts around changing colors as she passes over the bottom. Years ago one was feeding on the shrimp in my bait bag and when the bag was taken away from her she started putting her tenacles up on the dock looking for more. Soft heart, I fed her a few.
