We just returned from a week at the lake with my extended family and we loved every minute. The house was absolutely beautiful, perfectly furnished, and stocked with every item that we needed. We loved hanging out on the dock, floating in the lake, and paddleboarding. My favorite part of the week was sitting on the screened in porch and listening to the birds. Pete and Teresa were wonderful hosts, and we appreciated everything that they did to make us feel so welcomed.

This house exceeded our expectations! Everything about the home is wonderful - the location, the amenities, the property itself. Our group said that it was everything they wanted in a lake vacation. The owners are quick to respond to any messages and extremely helpful. We loved the paddle boards, kayaks, and pedal boat. The little kids also had a great time playing corn hole and going on "nature walks" around the house. There is truly something for everyone and we all hope to return!It truly was a Great Escape!

We've been coming back to this rental for our week-long family reunion vacation year after year, and it's become a place we all look forward to. The owners clearly take pride in the property and continue to make thoughtful improvements every season.This year, our favorite addition was the new dock stairs. They made getting in and out of the water incredibly easy, especially for family members who aren't the strongest or most enthusiastic swimmers. The sturdy, gradual access made everyone feel extra comfortable and encouraged more people to enjoy the water.

Our family enjoyed this location immensely. It offered our family many options without leaving the property. We could go swimming at the dock or fish from the ample shore line or play corn hole on the deck or just put a family puzzle together in the screen room. We rented a boat and it was delivered and picked up right from the dock!!! If you did need something it was a short trip down the road. I thought I remembered everything...lol. The house was equipped with everything. So before you bring it ask the host, it is probably there. The host were fantastic to communicate with. This was hands down the most enjoyable family vacay so far...... THANK YOU TERESA AND PETE !!!!

This is the 10th. Or maybe 11th year staying here! Each year there is noticeable updates to the property. The house is able to accommodate many. This year was a small group. Only 11. Everyone had a bed! The house is comfortable and cozy. The kitchen has everything needed to cook meals! 2 refrigerators & an ice machine helps to limit grocery store runs! The dock accommodates the sunbathing or reading people! The hosts are easy to work with and check to be sure everything is up to your standards.I highly recommend this property! We had an amazing stay at the Great Escape house on Lake Gaston! The home was incredibly clean, spacious, and fully stocked with everything we needed. The peninsula location offers beautiful views and easy lake access, which made the whole experience even more special.We loved being able to fish right from the shore and dock our boat with ease. The provided kayaks and water equipment were a huge bonus, and having firewood ready for the firepit made our evenings extra relaxing.Overall, this was a peaceful, well-equipped getaway—we’d absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Great place for large family gathering!

The property was very spacious for a large family with lots of amenities for everyone, so we were able to spread out and have smaller more intimate gatherings throughout the week. Our family loved the house and all that it offered and Pete and Teresa were very friendly and accommodating. Our family would love to stay again!

Great vacation home

The Great Escape is a fantastic home inside and out. Wonderful landscaping and some home improvements. The water toys was a big hit with the family.
