Perfectly located for maximum beach time. 10 minute walk to quaint downtown Lewes shops and restaurants. Lewes is the oldest town in Delaware and its historical environment has been well preserved. Comfortable, quiet cottage where you can relax, read, play board games, enjoy your privacy, and sleep well. Great Room - 3 Bedrooms - Spacious Master Bedroom - Large Indoor Dining Space - Screened in Porch - Outdoor Shower - Kayak - Grill - Stainless Steel Fire Pit - Outdoor String Lighting.
We had a lovely stay. The house was well stocked and clean. The porch was lovely. The host was very available. Stepdowns between rooms and challenging access to attic bedroom were concerns, particularly for an older member of our party.
The only thing different was the new sofa, which we greatly appreciated! We even used it as a âcrateâ area for our dog. She even had a great time! I recommend this house!
The rental place is great. One does not feel like rental but like home. Very good price for a week. There is a lot of everything. Everything very comfortable. Clean. Great outdoors. Great games for kids, great pieces for adults to play. But I do not want to praise too much, because I would like to go there again and do not want to pay too much. Beach just 10 steps away, and not too crowded.
Although the weather was quite dicey during our visit, we felt warm and snug in Johnâs home. The large living room was a great place to snuggle with our pup, read, and watch movies. The location of the house made it so as the weather cleared, we could quickly and easily access the beautiful beach. It was also a quick drive to Cape Henlopen - a place we love.If you are looking for a gentle escape from the world, Johnâs space is a great choice.
Spent an extended stay here with my dog and partner/friends in and out. It is ideal for waking up, rolling out of bed, and walking the maybe three hundred feet to the beach. It's also a fifteen/twenty minute walk to downtown Lewes, which has incredible food (some of the best I've ever had in a beach town). Any groceries you'll have to travel a bit farther so stock up. The house is old fashioned, which is part of its charm, but has plenty of space. The screen-enclosed lanai was a huge part of our enjoyment--would sit out back there with the dog for hours. John, the owner, was incredibly helpful and responsive. We look forward to coming back!
Great house, excellent location, engaged host. We were traveling with young children and appreciated how the common area was away from bedrooms so that we didnât have to tiptoe around at night. Also great outdoor space. If you want to feel at home at the beach, this is the place!
This was our 2nd time at Lewes Beach. We loved the location- literally STEPS from the beach.
Our dogs loved going in the morning and after 630pm when dogs were allowed.
Lots of fun games and activities at the house such as board games and floaties. We used the kayak at the beach too. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, beach chairs, bikes etc.
The house is a bit older but we already knew that and chose the house because of the location.
We were able to walk to town a few times for King's ice cream and drive to the outlets for shopping.
There was a bit of an issue with the AC but the fans were great and John was very communicative and had it fixed right away.
This is the perfect location for a slow-paced beach retreat. The entrance to the beach is less than 2 minutes away on foot, and the property had all the essentials needed (umbrella, chairs, extra towels). The sun was a bit ruthless the week we stayed, so it was great to be able to hit the beach early and late in the day, and explore Lewes and some of the Rehoboth attractions mid-day. Jungle Jim's was a nice contrast to swimming in the bay one day.
The house was spacious & airy, with good central AC and interior shutters/shades to keep it cool in the day. Screened in porch & a pergola covered with Wisteria made some nice shady spots and our kiddo loved the hammock chair. Outdoor shower was lovely to get all the sand off after the beach. And the huge living room was great for games (many at the house) and Legos (brought from home).
Location is very quiet, but walkable to a few shops, and there are lots of bike paths around the town. Very short drive (4 mins) to downtown Lewes, and only slightly longer to the bigger stores and attractions along the main routes (10 mins, more depending on traffic).
We loved it here and the host was easily reached with questions via text. He also had lots of great recommendations for food and fun activities for kids. We can't wait to come back!
We had a great time! The house is just steps away from the beach. Spent quite a bit of time on the screen porch. We actually had a warm beach day in April which was a nice surprise. Communication with the owner was great, very responsive. Would definitely consider staying again.
Cute vintage beach house. Hard to beat proximity to the beach. Exceptionally responsive owner. Love the more quiet Lewes compared to Rehoboth. My family and I very much enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful family home we didnât need anything the home was fully stocked with everything you could think of! Loved the beach location. Great communication as well!
We loved our visit to this sweet house half a block from the beach on the Delaware Bay. Easy walking distance to downtown Lewes. The three bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked as the house continues to be a vacation home for the family that owns it. It has a nice large living room and screened porch as well as a good-sized dining room. We would definitely rent here again. It was also very quiet.
I was raised just south of Columbus, Ohio. My parents bought this cottage in 1970 and it has been a labor of love for all of us since then. I now split my time between Lewes and Kansas City. The best part of my year is when all of some of my 4 daughters, 3 granddaughters, 2 sisters, and friends descend upon Lewes in June or July. It is the most fun!!
My parents chose it in 1970. 5 of the 6 houses have neighbors I grew up with. Our generation, our children, grandchildren, and soon to be great grandchild spent endless hours on the beach and water together. We all learned to sail and water ski together.
1 minute to the beach dunes. I make enhancements to make it more comfortable, fun, and convenient every year. So clean. The beds and furniture are the most comfortable. Jump on a bike from the shed and be in historic downtown Lewes in 5 minutes or walk their in 15. Lewes Bake Shoppe has the best pastries and coffee starting at 7 AM each day. Lot's more. I do my best to make it affordable for families.
