Restored traditional, old world cottage overlooking the sea in Kinsale
This restored and modernized cobb farmhouse maintains the character and feel of the original 1700s homestead. Kinsale is a gourmet town with a yacht filled harbor along with golf and equestrian center.
Very cozy. Perfectly situated to visit family outside of Cork. Close enough to Cork City and to the west coast areas. The view each morning out the front was glorious.
We had never been to this part of Ireland. And Kinsale is a lovely area to stay around. Denise and Darlene - the delightful twin sister hosts could not have been more helpful. They were always attentive and informative but never intrusive. The property - restored by the sisters to its former glory is beautiful. The facilities are great and it has a beautiful vista over the Bandon. Kinsale itself is a lovely town with great pubs, restaurants (Bulmans and Man Friday were great), cafes and places to look around. It is a great base to drive further south west to Mizen Head, Skibbereen (sobering famine history) and Clonakilty (black pudding and Michael Collins house!). The only disadvantage (not the owners fault!) is that you do need a car to get into Kinsale so one night we left if in town, had a few drinks and walked (25 mins) to go to pick it up! Great holiday. Thank you Denise and Darlene
Lovely stay in the tastefully furnished and well equipped cottage. The children loved the cows behind the house. We had some milk, scones and butter in the kitchen and freshly cut flowers on the table, which was a pleasant surprise on arrival.
Leaderâs Farmhouse was purchased by my great grandfather in 1905 where he raised his family. It is an original cob home from 1700âs and fell into a derelict state during the eighties. It was a restoration project with the old, labor intensive methods and limestone used to restore this jewel to its original glory. Modern touches like underfloor heating and power shower were installed. We are excited to share our home with international guests from around the world.
