Cozy 1 bedroom cabin a few steps from Gardner Lake
Lakefront cabin steps from Gardner Lake, Whiting, Maine. Tile floors, wood interior, Deck/ grill. Shared water access with adjacent cabin. Wi Fi. No cable. Monthly discounts. Shorter or longer stays may be available by contacting owner. No pets. No smoking or vaping. One bedroom and only one bathroom. New queen size bed in bedroom and new full size sleeper sofa in living area. Site says the bedroom sleeps 4 but the bedroom sleeps 2 and the sleeper in the living area sleeps 2. Awesome sunsets from the deck. The moon rise is often hidden behind the cabin but can often be seen once it has come up and sometimes in the morning in the fall and spring over the lake. Osprey and Eagles are often seen fishing in the cove. We have a beaver swimming the cove this year. Unfortunately due to insurance, I am unable to offer the Kayaks and canoe at at this time. Sunrise kayak and canoe rents and will deliver. Swimming. Bring water shoes. Lily Pad during summer season for use. Large and small mouth bass, pickerel, perch and salmon.
It was perfect for our short little stop! It was clean and perfect space for us! The views were breathtaking! The pizza recommendation was so good! We had a great time!
We had a great stay at Mary Janeâs cabin! It had everything we needed: a lake to swim in, a comfortable bed, a very usable kitchen, a deck for reading and dinner and sunsets, WiFi, close enough to explore Lubec, Eastport, Machias, coastal hikes, etc etc. Great communication, very clean, would absolutely return.
Nice cottage clean and nice location. Advertised as 2 beds owner contacted me short time before to say pullout couldnât be pulled out. Ultimately we did get it to pull out and used it but somewhat incorrect advertisement.
The property was well taken care of and perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors with convient access to the main road. Mary was extremely friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
The cabin is well-stocked and tidy. Mary Jane is a kind and thoughtful host. The lake is a dreamâdefinitely bring water shoes! We want to return for another trip!
Quiet spot, very clean and has an amazing view of the lake. MaryJane the host is super nice and there if you need anything. Will definitely stay here again!
This small cabin on Lake Gardner is just as advertised - a cozy cabin. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The bedroom is small but we slept the best we have for our whole trip. Itâs nothing fancy, but a great base camp to explore this area of Maine. I would recommend.
Host is amazing. Location is phenomenal and the porch is to die for. If you are planning to cook I would bring your own pans and if you have 4 people and want to eat inside you might need to be flexible/creative with seating. Place felt very clean and I have a high standard. Would recommend and would book again.
The doors were very squeaky (bathroom and entrance) difficult to be quiet while others sleeping. I am sure that it was due to the weather. Humidity and such. Other than that we were pleased with our stay.
The lake was beautiful but unable to use because of time of year. Just being able to enjoy the view enhanced our stay. The bedroom was tight, but the actual bed was very nice. Location was great. We were able to access many activities and supplies within 20 minutes. Absolutely recommend.
We had a sweet stay at the cabin on Gardiner Lake, Would love to come back sometime. Mary Jane was super accommodating and great at communicating with us.
I grew up in Camden, Maine. I fell in love with Downeast Maine when I taught science at Washington Academy. I love to fish, swim and hike. Retired in 2022 from my law practice and now spend my summers taking care of the lakefront rentals. I keep a Lily pad out for swimming and fun for the kids. I enjoy seeing guests sitting on the deck and relaxing as the sun sets.
Sunsets in the summer. Booming ice in the spring and fall as it builds and melts. I love being able to swim after the sun sets and the lake quiets down, especially when there is a full moon. Eagles, Kingfishers, Canadian geese, mergansers and osprey are common. Loons visit the cove and you can sometimes hear the loons calling as well as coyotes howling at night. The lake can be very calm but can kick up into 4+ foot waves. Listening to the many migrating birds on morning walks on the camp road and Gardner Lake Road is great with the Merlin app. A short 5 minute drive brings you to a portion of the Downeast Trails where you can walk from the Rim Road to Machias through marshy areas with Eagles, geese, cormorants, kingfishers, ducks, great blue heron, snowy egrets in the fall and more.
