Welcome to Steps To The Sound, an adorable and cozy soundside cottage in North Topsail Beach. This home was meticulously renovated and decorated by veteran vacation home owners/managers, who have been offering exceptional rentals to travelers since 2012. This home sleeps a maximum of four, and while it may be on the small side, it is full of character, amenities and was designed with guest needs in mind.

We are in an ideal location in North Topsail, convenient to both Surf City and Sneads Ferry. The beach access is a short walk across Island Drive.

The home is located directly on the sound, and offers a private dock to enjoy peace and quiet, and stunning sunsets over the sound. The main living area was transformed from a cramped space with too many walls to an open floor plan with a large dining island, and views of the sound from the kitchen and living area. There is a cushy & comfy sofa, two swivel chairs (for facing both the sofa and the TV) and a 65" Smart TV. The kitchen is fully stocked for your cooking needs, and we have a steamer pot ready for your vacation seafood boils. We offer a floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinet that's left empty for guest food storage. We keep the kitchen stocked with dish soap, dishwasher tabs, hand soap, kitchen towels, 2 rolls of paper towels and a full supply of trash bags.

There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Both bedrooms have premium Tempur-Cloud mattresses by Tempurpedic. The master bedroom has a king bed, and ensuite bathroom with custom tile shower, and sound views with a slider to the back deck. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and is adjacent to the hallway full bath with custom tiled bathtub/shower combo. Each bedroom has custom closets with shelving and dual hanging space. Although the cottage is compact, we have taken great care to maximize storage for your personal items. Each bedroom also features nightstands with drawers for your clothing or essentials. We supply all linens (sheets, towels, and beach towels).

There is a laundry room in the cottage as well with a full-size stackable washer/dryer, an iron & ironing board, a vacuum and mop for any spills/sand, and a supply of basic cleaning supplies. We keep a supply of turkish towels you can take to the beach with you.

Our under house storage contains beach chairs for your use, a Yeti backpack cooler, and a Shibumi Shade and a beach cart. We have an open air outdoor shower behind the house where you can rinse off the beach salt & sand, and the fence has hooks for your beach towels.

We are dog friendly for one adult dog under 20 lbs, housebroken and crate trained only, please. We have a small fenced area in the side yard with dog turf for safe potty breaks. Dogs must be vaccinated for rabies, and be on prescription flea and tick medication. Proof is required after booking. Also, dogs must be crate trained, and housebroken, and crated anytime they are left alone in the home. No exceptions. If your dog is not accustomed to being crated, this may not be an enjoyable vacation for them. 😊

Bring your kayaks or rent them locally. We are just two doors down from the North Topsail kayak launch at W Rodney Knowles Park.

We have considered it an honor to host travelers at our vacation rentals since 2012. In addition to Steps To The Sound, we also offer an oceanfront home that sleeps 8 (4 BR/3 BA), called Steps To The Sea, which is just a few houses down.
