Fantastic stay! Beautiful property and location, Fred and Pauline were excellent host. Definitely would recommend this place and would stay again in a heartbeat!
We had only one night here which was disappointing because we would have loved to stay longer. The area is so lovely and the view was gorgeous. This cozy 2 bedroom was perfect for us and our hosts made us feel at home.
Pauline welcomed us to Hillside View with a warm smile and showed us all the necessary details. Hillside View has a great view over Champneyâs West and Trinity Bay. The pretty cottage is very comfortable for four people and is so well equipped with everything one could possibly need for a short or longer stay. We would love to return to Hillside View for a future visit to the Bonavista Peninsula! Thank you, Pauline and Fred.
Beautiful view from deck overlooking the village with houses all around the irregularly shaped lagoon. Then a fascinating rock, then the main bay, with Fox Island to the right, then the mouth of Trinity Bay (from the west side), then the ocean. Helpful friendly hosts. Beautiful Fox Island trail, out to 2 beaches connecting the island to mainland.
Really enjoyed our 2 night stay in Champney's West. Check in was easy, the place was comfy, quiet, well designed and every morning we walked around the pretty bay. There are amazing local trails (Skerwink Trail and Fox Trail which is walking distance from the guesthouse).
Great check in,lovely cozy spot...Wine was a gift from host ..nice thought..Great location to visit Bonavista and Trinity..dog friendly, a hard to find asset ..We recomend and will use again..The full moon we had Sat night was a wonderful site..
This is a unique property that has stunning bay views and gorgeous 'next door' hiking trail. The guest house is well maintained, very clean. The owners are friendly and helpful.
This little place was all about the views and access to hiking for us. The kitchenette could use a real sink for washing up, but we made the little space work
We loved this little oasis. My fur baby even had a safe yard to run around in. Pauline thought of everything and we were quite comfortable. Highly recommend staying here.
The guesthouse is rural but close to Trinity, with view really is spectacular although because of rain we couldn't fully take advantage. Beds were comfortable, and our hosts welcoming. The kitchen area was well equipped but not organized in a way that would have made any serious cooking easy. Overall, though, a pleasant stay.
A home away from home! My husband and I are visual artists. I am a painter and my husband is a sculptor. The location of our stay was perfect for the imagination. We were very comfortable in all aspects in this space. Attention to detail was paramount.

Our stay was exceptional. Pauline & Fred went out of their way to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable, a home away from home. Everything that you could possibly want was provided for us. Coffee, tea & even a bottle of wine. Views from the deck were spectacular.
Location was central to all the local attractions.
There is absolutely nothing that Pauline and Fred have missed in this amazing home. Lots of towels, extra blankets, comfy beds, wine, wifi, coffee, tea, fire pit, sâmore sticks, paper plates, bbq, playing cardsâŠ. Itâs a home away from home. We were so impressed and would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Fred and Pauline were not far away if we needed anything and were very helpful. It rained the day we were there so we couldnât enjoy the outdoors as much as we would have liked.
Great view from our little yard where we enjoyed the fire pit. Not conducive to food preparation as the air fryer and toaster set off smoke detector. "Rain" bugs were not appreciated on floor, shower and kitchen counter. A bit too rustic for us.
The beds were comfortable the cabin was very clean and was well stocked with things you might need. The view was nice from the deck. The things that was not as expected the area surrounding the cabin was junky but they had put up privacy fence to block that view. The cabin was too cluttered and you had no place to put your belongings without concern of losing them, the bath was full of rain bugs every morning, the WiFi never worked for our stay, Last item if you plan to prepare meals, you can warm things in the MW and make coffee but beyond that it is a hot plate and toaster oven, it is NOT a kitchen. However, if all you need is a place to spend a night or two this location works. The location is convenient to local places of interest.
