Welcome to FinchSong Cottage, a cozy mountain escape nestled on a private 3-acre lot at the base of Shortoff Mountain in Highlands, North Carolina. Just 4.5 miles (under 10 minutes) from Main Street Highlands, enjoy easy access to charming shops, restaurants, waterfalls, and scenic hikes like Secret Falls, Dry Falls, Glen Falls, and Sunset Rock.

Perfect for escaping the heat in the summer or enjoying vibrant fall colors, this retreat blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Relax in the private hot tub, cozy up by the indoor fireplace (complimentary firewood included from October–April), or unwind at the outdoor fire pit under the stars.

Great spot!

Great location close to downtown Highlands. House has everything you would need and the hot tub was a major plus!

Charming and well appointed; great property

We loved our stay here. Well designed, plenty of room and comfortable with a highly functional kitchen and laundry machines. It had two large decks with wonderful views of the forest, a modern hot tub, and a large private lot. Would stay here again.

Perfect getaway cabin

Thanksgiving holiday

Loved the cabin and location; perfect for family of 4; short easy access to Highlands; only negative is TV is mounted way to high to enjoy; simple fix on a stand or furniture in the right corner. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful cozy cottage with great outdoor fire pit and hot tub. Convenient location to Highlands and Cashiers. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Weekend!

We enjoyed a perfect weekend at the cabin! A lovely cabin in a beautiful setting. Had everything we needed for our weekend getaway. Close enough to everything but remote enough for peace and quiet. We hope to come again!

Great for family of 4

This was a wonderful home, location and setup for a family with young children. The perfect weekend getaway. Host was very responsive to questions and helpful. Great in between for Highlands and Cashier visit.

Amazing Stay!

What a perfectly appointed mountain cottage! So serene and peaceful! We loved every minute of our stay at Finchsong. Very quick response time to a slight issue with the hot tub by the owners. We were very impressed! Would love to return!

Fathers day/Birthday weekend

This property is very private, with open spaces to have children run around. The covered porch off the back is awesome, we ate every meal out there. Everything was provided, to make your stay complete, with very comfortable furniture. The linens, the beds, the kitchenware, all were perfect. We will definitely mark this as a property will come back too.

Great place to stay near Highlands and Cashiers

FinchSong Cottage was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin is in a quiet and secluded area in a great location to enjoy everything in the Highlands-Cashiers area. The cabin is new, beautiful and cozy with attractive furnishings and decor and a nice kitchen. Our favorite part of the cabin was the hot tub, which we enjoyed each night we were there. Curt and Renata, the hosts, were great to work with and were very helpful and responsive. I highly recommend this property.

Wonderful home!

We had the most wonderful stay at this home for the 4th of July holiday. The home was perfect for our family of 4. It is wonderfully equipped with everything needed and the amenities (outside fire pit with firewood, indoor fireplace, hot tub, etc) are fantastic. The neighborhood is off the beaten path and I enjoyed walking the nearby woods. Yet still a quick drive to town in Highlands. The host was wonderful and responsive. Possibly our favorite Highlands home in all our years going.

Spacious and clean - loved it

This house was very spacious and suited our 4 member family very well. Convenient to hiking trails, shopping and restaurants.. Very attractive too! We had a little bit of trouble checking in, as the lockbox was not working but we were able to reach the owners by phone. It would have been nicer to have the lights on when we got there, since we arrived after dark.

Great stay!

Overall, it was a great stay! Beautiful house and scenery, feels remote, but is only a few min from downtown highlands. Lots of privacy. Our only problem with the property is that the road to it is gravel and has some potholes and the driveway is super steep. An SUV would probably be fine, but I drive a Hyundai Elantra and it got a bit tossed around and a little trouble getting in and out, I would definitely recommend driving a car with a little bit higher clearance to this property.

Relaxation at its finest!

This cottage was in the most perfect location for us to get to Highlands and Cashiers and all the nearby hiking trails we wanted to hit. Its wooded setting provided us with complete quiet (I don't think I've ever heard such quiet!) and privacy while still being able to hop in the car and get to where we wanted to go. The covered back porch was the most relaxing spot for coffee and reading in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. We grilled every night for dinner and the kitchen had everything we needed. Hot tub is perfect and clean! Fire pit is great with comfortable chairs and corn hole in the yard! Highly recommend for a couples getaway or a family with 2 kids. We would love to come back!
