This house was amazing, especially if you appreciate historical architecture. Built in the late 1700s with additions made in the 1800s, it has been tastefully restored to offer a blend of historical character and modern conveniences. The property is located on the fringe of a working farm with a tranquil landscaped pond across the road. The house sits in a convenient location, mostly private and very peaceful. I would definitely recommend.

The host was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The farm house has been tastefully restored and preserved. We had the most amazing and memorable experience here. We would highly recommend this property to others as a wonderful place to stay. The hospitality is excellent!

We had a great time staying at this location. It is conveniently located just outside of down town Gettysburg providing a quiet and comfortable stay. The house is clean and the owners check in with you to ensure you are well taken care of.

Memorial Day weekend family getaway

We had a wonderful time staying here with our boys. Great location, house is beautiful and historic. All the owner's attention to detail made our stay super nice. I would highly recommend this house to stay in. Close to all the Gettysburg sites, but not in all the hustle of the town.:)

Excellent farmhouse, great location

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful, historic Gettysburg farmhouse! After a full day it was great to retire at this cozy, spacious place. It is tucked away in a quiet part of Gettysburg but allows for a quick drive to any part of the battlefield, downtown or Hanover, PA nearby.

Lovely Home

Beautiful historic home in a lovely setting. Outdoor space (back patio) is a great addition. Really enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again should our travels bring us back to the area. Hosts were responsive and available if we needed them. Thank you for a great stay!

2nd Stay… Just as great as the first!

This was our 2nd stay at this location. The historic home is perfect. The location is convenient to travel to the battlefield or into town. The owners are wonderful and answer all communication promptly. If heading to Gettysburg I would always choose to stay at this home.

Perfect Place for a Family Gathering

The house was the perfect place for our family to gather. The house was nicely appointed, very clean, and had a really welcoming feeling from the moment you stepped in. If the weather was nicer, we would have loved to have used the fire pit. Would highly recommend this spot to those traveling to Gettysburg.

Civil War Era Gettysburg House

Excellent communication with the owners! They lived in the home and did an excellent job bringing this old home up to date. It has everything you could need, very clean, quiet and comfortable! Love the fire pit and the wine :D

Historic Happiness

We absolutely loved this cute, historic farmhouse. It had all the amenities you would want and some history to boot. Super clean as well! It was also close to all the sites we wanted to tour and we were so happy to have tried Brother's Pizza. Great food and lots of choices and very close. If we are ever back up to this area we would definitely stay here again. Also the host was amazing and actually met us at the place to make sure we had everything we needed. This is a must stay if you are in the area!

Perfect Getaway

The farmhouse more than lived up to my expectations. It has the old farmhouse charm while also providing you with modern day amenities. It was a wonderful place to come back to each day after seeing the sites in Gettysburg. The owners checked in with us every so often to make sure everything was to our liking and to see if there was anything they could do for us. My wife and I will likely be coming back here again sometime.

What a Gem!

This home was so charming... Lovingly maintained, perfectly decorated, stunning grounds, thoughtful amenities. When asked how they wanted to spend our last night in Gettysburg, our children chose to return to Hartlaub House to enjoy a cozy dinner, a campfire, and Civil War cornhole- they LOVED staying here. Blessed with perfect weather for our visit, coffee on the porch was a dream and the short drive into town was scenic and convenient. The hosts were excellent- knowledgeable, friendly and accessible. We are already trying to find an excuse to visit again!

Gettysburg Get Away

This was by far the best VRBO we have ever stayed in. It was incredibly well stocked with all the supplies we might need, many of which travelers forget (ziplocks, tinfoil, etc.) The yard games were perfect afternoon entertainment for our kids (7,9,14), and the yard space beautiful and relaxing. The beds were comfortable, and the space was relaxing and beautiful. A perfect quiet space to recover from a day of activity. We love the historic charm and modern amenities, and would love to return if ever the opportunity comes. Thank you to our hosts for making our stay so memorable.

Gettysburg Getaway

This property is lovely. We enjoyed the modern amenities coupled with this historic charm. Kevin was so prompt and courteous with every communication and request. Sadly we did not encounter any ghosts although the house is quite old. By staying out of town, we discovered a new part of the park to the northwest where JEB Stuart among others rallied. Amazing historical getaway!

Being from California, we couldn’t believe the breathtaking scenery! So green and plush and full of wildlife. The house was stunning! Couldn’t believe we were actually staying in a home from the civil war era. The house was cozy, clean, relaxing and all the amenities provided were just amazing! The owners were so easy to communicate with and so friendly. Sitting out back or out front in the evenings was so cool hearing and seeing all the wildlife, it was surreal. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend this rental property to anyone wondering if this is a good place to stay. The answer is yes, you won’t be disappointed!

Great experience - so beautiful and relaxing!

Booked this as a getaway for my parents. Everything was amazing! It reminded them of childhood memories, everything was tastefully decorated with Civil War décor and interesting reads, it was immaculate, all the nice amenities set up for them was so thoughtful and convenient. Used the fire pit outside, the pond across the street was a pretty view in the morning even saw a few fisherman (unusually/perfectly warm weekend for October!), convenient drive to Gettysburg, great recommendations for local sports from the owners who were very responsive. This home completed their whole Gettysburg experience. Highly recommended, would definitely return! Tom & Joan
