Welcome to The Disco Snail located in the heart of downtown BHAM! This spacious property is filled with all the groovy vibes and is the perfect spot for large groups. With 5 bedrooms and 8 beds, a decked-out backyard and a relaxing front porch, the opportunities to boogie are endless!
Step into this time machine, packed with a surplus of amenities and a quick hop to everything Birmingham has to offer.
I rented this nice property along with a sister property across the street! Both places were perfect for the gathering of our family and friends when weâre in town for my granddaughterâs wedding! I could not have been more pleased with the whole set up!
Communication with the owners was phenomenal. They were quick to respond, and incredibly accommodating.
The location is prime.
The house has an incredible fun feel.
It's clean, welcoming (The Lights were on upon arrival), and has all the amenities that one would need for a stay in Birmingham.
If you're looking for an ideal location, look no further!
Nice property with a few hiccups. There is NO hot tub which was not disclosed until we were on our way there. The property had beds as described, decor was very cute. The dishwasher was broken and this was not disclosed to me until we were almost there. The kitchen sink disposal was broken and the sink would not drain on that side so I had to use the other side.
10 members of our family stayed at the Disco Snail while attending an event. The cottage is charming but old, in an interesting transitioning neighborhood. The owners have made a valiant attempt at updating the decor with paint and decorations, but there's no hiding the the underlying shabbiness. The photos and description on VRBO are misleading about this. Bathrooms are tiny and difficult to use, kitchen is not well equipped (bring your own pot holders?), and the stairs leading up to the front door are steep and without handrails. This was hazardous and frightening for the elder members of our party. Renters should definitely be warned about this.
On the positive side, the new mattresses were very comfortable and we enjoyed the communal areas. The dining room was especially spacious and we had some good meals together. The neighborhood is fun to explore with lovely little houses in various states of renovation.
We have been using VRBO for many years and never had any problems until our most recent stay in Birmingham. There were several issues, but will note only the significant ones addressed w/the host:- broken kitchen utensil drawer- numerous stairs to enter the home not communicated- dryer overstuffed w/wet bedding, etc., & lint- Bugs in 2 bedroom beds â one crawling on comforter left blood stain when killed - 4-5 bug bites appeared on my forehead & 2 on my knee- 1 bug bite on husbandâs neck w/blood on his pillowcase - Nest thermostat dipped below 62 degrees every night- Host offered reimbursement of 503.08 if vacated that night, which we couldnât do w/elderly mom & special needs adult daughter- when we cleaned we found previous guestsâ dirty diapers in the trash- vacated in the a.m.(2 nights early) & stayed at nearby hotel- When we contacted host for partial reimbursement, host eventually ghosted us & VRBOIn the interest of helping other guests, it wouldnât be right to not share our experience to give potential guests a chance to make an informed decision for themselves. We hope the issues have been addressed, because it really did have the potential to be a great place to stay. Itâs unfortunate that the hostâs response to us was, âWe understand your frustration & hate you havenât enjoyed your stay, but some of the items you mentioned should honestly not be expected for the price paid at a 3,000 sqft historic home near downtown Birmingham.â
Nice and quiet location, railing for outside stairs would be a plus. Overall house is nice, sufficient sleeping space for our group.
More attention is needed to cleaning and freshening up before guest arrival, cleaning or replacing shower curtain liners would be a plus. Bathroom base boards/floors needed more attention. Upstairs restroom had used razor left on top of mirror and female products left in tray under cabinet from prior guest. Not sure if tray was left intentionally for use of new guest if needed. If this was the intent, it would be more presentable if products were in original box/package, or I would prefer it removed.
Upstairs King bedroom is unsafe with bed on wood crates, creates a hazard. Replacing crates with bed frame would be a plus. We were short a guest, so room was not used. Downstairs bedroom needing a little more care, cleaning/freshening the sofa, cleaning of decor pillows. USB ports a plus in all bedrooms.
Nice kitchen area. Providing kitchen towels, oven mitts, and potholders would be a plus. Inside surface area of washer needed cleaning. Nice makeup room.
My husband and I are both Alabama locals. A few things we enjoy doing: traveling/trying new restaurants, interior design and meeting new friends! We love being hosts because we get to create beautiful spaces with thoughtful amenities for our awesome guests to enjoy while they travel
