This was a great spot to spend a few days lakeside. We didn't come across anything that was lacking as far as cooking equipment, linens or outdoor gear. The house was generally clean upon arrival, smelled fresh and was tidy. We did find that there were more deep clean items that had been missed but not to the point of being a bother. We enjoyed our stay. Top 3 qualities:1. Location: very private, easy access to Marina if you need to put in a boat. Quiet. Fishing was great. Lovely walking trail2. Pretty much everything you need is provided on site other than firewood. 3 Jetted tub and Sauna were an added bonusTop things to consider:(not cons just things to keep in mind)1. It is very steep moving around the property as well as getting down to the water. My three year old did well but it did add another level of involvement for mom. This would be very difficult for anyone with mobily issues to enjoy this location. 2 This property was ok for us but it is rustic. It is in need of repair which the owner has begun to do. Just think camp and not beach house. The remodels that have been done look great. I'm sure this will continue to improve in the coming years.
Beautiful place! Easy check in, well stocked kitchen, nice rooms, and a great sauna. The bay has a lot of vegetation, but itâs a much better temperature than surrounding beaches.
You cannot beat the beautiful view from this lakefront house! Itâs situated up hill from the lake and has tons of windows. It feels like youâre in a treehouse. Plenty of room for our family of four and our dog. Bathrooms are a little strange - 2 half baths and a separate shower/tub room â but it worked. Paths are a little slippery so keep this in mind if someone in your group has mobility issues. Great location - very close to Heroâs Welcome and North Hero House. About 40 minutes from Burlington.
We had a great stay at On the Rocks. The other reviews aren't wrong about the stairs being slippery and things being rustic, but because of those reviews I knew exactly what we were getting into (in fact, it was better than I anticipated). The beds were comfortable, there was a new refrigerator and the whole place is quirky and fun. Beautiful sunrises, near a nice walking trail and was very serene.
Charles is a very attentive host who was always available to answer any questions or concerns. Property is a little dated but situated in such a peaceful scene! Relaxation for hours on end. Our visit was in early fall so there was no interest in swimming. However for those that may choose to swim access to the water from the floating dock could be a challenge. The only real negative to the property is walkways. The property is situated on a hill and would be difficult to access for anyone withMobility issues or small children. However we were able to manage fine. Overall a very nice day
This house is a bit quirky but it suited our party well. The private dock was large enough for our boat & 2 jet skis. The property grounds are on a steep hill and access to water is under repair. Overall a great stay! hillhill
We liked the house. Nice to have 2 toilets. Thereâs a separate room with a shower but the door doesnât shut all the way. The big bummer was all the outside walk ways are steep, with no handrails. Anyone who is unsteady on their feet will have difficulty getting around. And VERY slippery when wet. The dock set up from the beach to the dock needs some work. The water is very weedy in this area. Unfortunately the blue green algae showed up while we were there but no one can help that.
The property was well located in a nice area. Getting to the location was a breeze. The house/cottage was very clean and the cleaning person, Robin, was great.
The cottage is showing its age but was comfortable with a kitchen that was very well stocked with pots, pans, etc.
It had an outstanding view of the lake and was quite comfortable for a rental.
Our only complaint with the rental was the outside. The property was not well looked after as far as the grounds were concerned. There was a major concern with the walkways to the lake/dock area. They were in terrible condition and were quite dangerous especially for young children and older adults. it was extremely dangerous to get onto and off of the floating dock for swimming and boating.
Once you jumped off the dock into the water you could not get back out of the water because there was no ladder to climb out. Children had to be lifted out and 1 or 2 received MINOR scrapes and cuts but for the amount of money weekly rental is, fix the problem! Adults had to swim to the shore and climb out.
The dock surface was very ruff and getting splinters was a daily occurance.
This put a damper on the daily activities but once you returned to the house it was fine.
Overall a great time but some challenges to the property were burnt out and no light bulbs in lower bathroom and lower guest room. Burnt out lights outdoors and unkept pathway that led to my father falling and getting cut on his leg. Property manager responded immediately and put up some small solar lights. The pathway needs to be re done and the exterior patio furniture was dirty- we cleaned quite a bit in the kitchen as the dishes were wet and dirty in the cupboards when we got there.
There was no screen in upper bedroom and the window was open since it was so hot. The dock was difficult to access and no one was able to get on or off easily. Though the property manager did pull the dock in some it was still difficult to access. I suggested putting foot holds on the wooden planks that were a temporary fix- but we all got splinters trying to not slip getting on and off. The steepness of the property should be included in the property description for elderly folks.
Beautiful views and lovely to have kayaks to use. Awesome property manager, very responsive and helpful. He went the extra mile at a moments notice.
What a wonderful time in North Hero. The place is located right on the water with a large dock for fishing, reading, and just hanging out. The water was wonderful for swimming, some weeds, but warm and refreshing. We loved the deck over looking the water and the open concept kitchen. The weather was hot when we were there and there was no air conditioning, which made sleeping difficult. I would love to stay here again next year!
We had a wonderful stay on the lake in this peaceful and rustic spot! There are quiet roads and trails for walking or biking and the dock was fabulous for fishing, launching paddle boards or kayaks or for just hanging out. There were several kayaks with life vests for our enjoyment. The views from kitchen/main room made you feel like you were up in a tree house looking out at the lake. The living spaces were all nice and clean with ample bath towels, bathing supplies and a well-equipped kitchen. Charles was a friendly, responsive and helpful host. We will surely be back again!
Overall awesome weekend, great location, beautiful view!
Expect a cabin feel, do not expect a luxury retreat.
It is listed as a 2 bathrooms, but online has 1 shower with very weak water pressure.
Kitchen was well equipped. It has everything you need!
