House was typical old house in Elmira. Nice for what we needed. My biggest complaint was not hearing from host until 6 hours before check-in. I like to be better prepared than that.
Leading up to our stay at this property, there was zero communication. Traveling 10 hours with two dogs, it wouldâve been nice to get an email the day before saying we would be set for our stay. I was stressed out questioning if we were going to be able to get into the property or if there was going to be some kind of issue. I Had to reach out the morning of Checkin. At that point the host responded a couple hours later saying he would send checkin information shortly. Check information arrived 25 minutes before we were due to check in. Property was not cleaned well, a ton of toxic glade plug-ins still didnât cover up the smell of musty basement. The location of the property was nice though. We vacation a lot and this is the first time we would not use the same property a second time.
Owner was very accommodating with great communication.
Place was clean and neat with all essentials needed.
Even came with a beautiful wild doe and bunny to watch out the kitchen window, while sipping coffee. Would definitely rent again.
I liked the historic nature of this home. It was in a nice area, with good parking, lots of space. We saw a deer on the property while we there. There was a game room, which was nice. I was disappointed that the microwave and refrigerator were not all the way clean, which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.
The house was not as clean as depicted and the cooking pans were in bad shape. Despite this, I liked this home. There was something about it that felt very welcoming. My family enjoyed our time, sitting at the table eating, playing games, and laughing. There was a book with the need-to-know info and more. I recommend this house and host.
Our stay was good except when we arrived the fridge had a bunch of old leftovers in it. The dryer was full of towels too. Great house with lots of animal visitors. We had a Doe and her two fawn and bunnies and birds. We enjoyed our stay. A couple more pans for cooking would have been helpful , it was kind of bare and not much silverware. We would stay again though.
This house was wonderful for my family for our weekend stay. We particularly loved the King bed mattress. Slept so well! Iâd suggest the host buy a few more mirrors. The one bathroom is fine but it wouldâve helped us to have one or two more mirrors. Thanks for the hospitality!

Property review West Elmira
Great location. Only really one usable bathroom. Washing machine and dryer a little sketchy. Kitchen supplies inadequate. Luckly my sister lived nearby. There were only 3 forks. Pot and pans were mostly abused nonstick cookware with flaking forever chemicals likely incorporated into your food. There were a good amount of spices and condiments which was nice. The price was very reasonable and if not for the kitchen supplies, I'd recommend.
Its a cute house with potential. Would have been nice to have chairs to sit outside. The coffee pot had old grounds dried and caked inside so we couldnât use it. Host was contacted 3x for the entry code before finally providing 30 minutes after check in.
House was clean and exactly as pictured. The host has a very informative binder for all your needs in the area. We stayed to hike Watkins Glen and Buttermilk falls. Good location. Host communication was fine, just waited at the house for the entry code, would have liked it before arrival. Other than that. Everything was great.
This house was a good option for our family of 5 to stay for one night.
Pros: Plenty of space for 5 people. Comfortable beds. Plenty of towels and linens available. Safe and quiet location. All appliances worked. A nice variety of spices and other food in the kitchen, Easy check in.
Cons: The "half bath" downstairs consisted of a toilet in poor condition in a tiny closet with no working light or sink, which made it completely useless. The toilet in the main bath needs to be tightened because the entire toilet rocked. The kitchen utensils were very sparse. Only one fork???
We stayed at this property on our way from Canada. We were visiting Corning and the Glen Watkins park. The home was in a wonderful location. I saw deers outside and mountains. The whole area had nice houses and a lot of greenery. The stores were quite close too.
As for the home, I have never seen a more well stocked home. They had pasta, pasta sauce and everything else that you would need to make a quick meal. Lot of vessels, plates, mugs. The home was quite comfortable with three bedrooms upstairs. It was bright and airy.
We had a great stay and we would recommend this home to anyone.
Decent place to stay. Just a few things that should be addressed though.
1- Need more forks in the silverware drawer. Thereâs only one.
2 - The washer only has hot water coming out of it no matter what temperature setting is used on the washer. The drain needs to be secured better so it doesnât end draining all over the floor in the basement.
3 - Some of the lamps need light bulbs and no spare bulbs in the house. The front porch light doesnât work.
Overall our stay was nice and enjoyable. The place just needs some attention maintenance wise.
Positives - good location, easy check-in process, roomy, close to family & friends, in a good part of town, great place to walk
Not so positive - still had Christmas decorations out, twin beds had a mattress cover that made it hot to sleep at night (put a blanket under fitted sheet seemed to help)
Negatives - burnt out lightbulbs throughout the house, hot water only washing machine, silverware was missing, old onions in the refrigerator, cobwebs in home and basement, donât get me started on the TINY unusable 1/4 bathroom
We have rented numerous homes over the years. This house was not one that we would rent again. It reminds me of a house that someone moved out of and left odds & ends throughout. This home was memorable but not for good reasons.
House was well located and reasonably priced. It had the squeakiest floors I have ever walked on. Every time someone got up to use the bathroom, the squeaky floors woke up the rest of the family. The âhalf bathâ was just a toilet by the kitchen with no sink and so small that only the two-year-old could use it. The listing should not say there is a half bath which is false information. I chose this house because of the half bath because I have UC and need access to a bathroom sometimes immediately. Just beware that this is a one bathroom house so you are not disappointed.
The property was clean and comfortable.
Calling a toilet in a broom closet (minus no light bulb!) was terribly disappointing. I am 5'6, 133 lbs; my knees touched the wall! A tall heavier person, couldn't possibly fit.
It advertised 6 knives (we had 5); 1 fork!
We had to buy plastic silverware.
There were missing light bulbs over the front door and lamps ( or burned out)
I called the number given to me for the owner, absolutely NO RESPONSE!!
We had a great time celebrating the college graduation of our granddaughter from Elmira College.
I just wish the owner would have responded or someone would have at least checked the silverware.
Beware of the toilet in the closet and bring a flashlight if you close the door.
