Located in Corningâs historic Southside. This 121 yr old home was renovated in 2022. It has 2 seperate vacation rentals. There is a 2br 2 story on the top 2 floors and in the basement there is studio apartment. Neither guest has access to the the other apartment. This listing is the 2BR 1 bath, with a dining room, living room and kitchen. The master BR has a King size bed with ample space and walk in closet. The 2nd BR sits across the hallway and is smaller with a full size bed. The bathroom has been completely renovated it features a walk in shower with ample lighting. Like our other Corning properties this home is cozy and comfortable with modern touches throughout.
We were very happy with the house and would return again if ever in the area. It was clean and comfortable. We liked that it was so close to Market St. and enjoyed walking to the Corning Glass Museum. Highly recommend this property.
This place was perfect for a quick trip to the finger lakes. Central to some great hikes nearby. The downtown was within walking distance. And Don was quick on the draw with any questions we had. The space itself was comfortable and very clean. The beds were super comfy. I will for sure book again when we come back.
Don left very clear instructions for parking, lots of great recommendations for local food etc, everything we needed for a comfortable stay was available to us. Beds were very comfortable! Couldnât have asked for a better place to lay our heads over the holiday!
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Great accommodations, poor communication
I didnât realize this was a required 2- night stay. Originally I booked it for 2 nights but then requested to change it to 1 night by messaging the host. I did this well within the cancellation window. This would have been the hostâs opportunity to inform me that Iâd be billed for 2 nights regardless. However, he failed to do do so. Still unaware that I was being billed for 2 nights, I kept the reservation. Needless to say, I was billed for 2 nights. Should I have read the fine print? Yes. Should he have informed me that Iâd be billed for 2 nights no matter what? Yes. It feels a little bit opportunistic.
this is a fantastic property for anyone that wishes to spend time in Corning and the surrounding area. Don was a great host. The house was safe, clean, and very inviting. I recommend it highly
Great location, spotlessly clean, very comfortable!
House is in a perfect location to enjoy downtown Corning. It was spotless. The beds are comfortable. The shower is roomy with great water pressure. Hope to be back!
Highly recommend this home away from home. Very clean, tidy and close to Market street and museums. Our host was very approachable and helpful. Hope to return next Fall. L&R Gordon.
Corning NY is a terrific getaway spot from Philadelphia and our First Avenue made the trip even better. Our host, Don, checked in with us regularily and has done an awesome job managing the property. Lots of thoughtful touches that make the house feel homey and luxurious at the same time. Thank you Don!
Beautiful house just minutes from everything! With just a quick walk to market street (where all the restaurants and shops are) but far enough away that you dont feel like your stuffed in the everyones business this house is in the perfect loaction!
The house is beautifully renovated inside and offers a real home feel to it!
The owner is super responsive and really easy to talk too!
Next time we are back in corning we will definitely be looking to stay here again!!
My adult daughter and I came to Corning to visit museums, browse galleries, and to enjoy some activities in the Finger Lakes vicinity.
The house is well-appointed including pods for the Keurig machine. The shower was lovely. I think the host more than covered all the bases for providing a welcoming and comfotable stay. The only thing I would want added is a grab bar in the shower as some of us, as we get older, need that for balance. I would opt to stay here again when my travel plans are in or near Corning.
My adult son and I were in town to spend time w/my elderly mother. This property was exactly as advertised. It was conveniently located, clean, well-appointed w/o being cluttered. Don was a great Host and had taken the time to leave house rules, instructions and area info. We are grateful that we had such a relaxing and comfortable place to stay while being away from home.
Home was very clean, beds very comfortable and area was quiet. We had everything we needed. Close to Market Street and Corning Glass Museum. We walked everywhere. Communication with Don was seamless -he is very responsive, and wants to make sure you're taken care of and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay!
We came to visit the Corning museum of glass and this property suited our needs. It is walking distance to Market Street where the shopping and restaurants are. Property was as expected as shown in photos. Beds were comfortable and neighborhood was quiet. Beware of the alternate side parking rules. We both got parking tickets. Also, be aware there is no dishwasher. Host was very gracious.
The owner has remodeled this house beautifully, there is nothing lacking! Our only concern for the elderly or infirm is that the railing at the top of the stairs is very low. But knowing how this owner responds to any suggestions, I expect that he will place a handle at the top of the stairwell before we rent here again!
This property was a perfect place to stay while in the Corning area. Check in was seamless. The house was clean and is well decorated. The beds are very comfortable and allowed us to get a restful sleep. The kitchen is well stocked, making it easy to cook meals there. The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had. He has definitely focused his attention to the things that matter. We appreciated the extra railing he installed at the top of the staircase, after another guest brought the need to his attention. Great customer service! We would stay at this property again if in the area.
First off, all of the rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated. Itâs obvious that Don put a lot of time and thought into furnishing this lovely home. Speaking of Don, he was a pleasure to work with. Everything went smoothly and he even texted to see if we were comfortable! His restaurant recommendations were very helpful also. Lastly, the location was perfect for us. We walked to Market Street (the main downtown thoroughfare) which took about 10 minutes, and the Corning Museum of Glass was very close by also. Watkins Glen State Park is about 30 minutes away and was just majestic! We enjoyed our mini-vacation! Thanks, Don!
Pros
Clean, spacious house on quiet street.
Cons
The biggest drawback was no dressers to hold clothes. The owner replied that they, "just ordered luggage racks for all of our properties". In my mind, that doesn't really address the problem.
Nit Picks
It's an old home so the plugs for the iPhone generation aren't always where you want them.
The AC in the main bedroom rattles quite a bit.
It's more of a peanut butter sandwich kitchen then a make a real dinner kitchen. I couldn't find: strainer, bread knife, tongs, oven mitts. In fairness, the owner responded quickly, "that my property manager (would) drop those off." However, I did not pursue the matter.
Came to Corning, NY with a friend with the purpose of visiting the Corning Museum of Glass and the surrounding area. We are both in our late 60s and in good health. It served as our home base and met our needs very well.
The house is just a couple blocks from downtown Corning. We donât mind walking, so we walked to downtown and to the Rockwell Museum from the house. It is an uphill walk going back.
The house was as advertised. There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs on the second level, and the kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry are on the entry level. It is very clean, and nicely appointed. The kitchen had the essentials. The dining room table would easily seat 6. Thereâs adequate seating in the living room and a Roku tv. Each bedroom also has a Roku tv and a window air conditioner.
The bathroom has a shower and a vanity large enough to accommodate your toiletries when using it. It is very clean and well lit. Shampoo, soap and conditioner are provided, as are linens.
There were Keurig pods and granola bars, paper towel, toilet paper and cleaning/laundry supplies
The house is old, so the staircase is steep and narrow, but there is a very sturdy handrail.
Don responded promptly when I contacted him with a question and reached out to me once to see if we needed anything.
In short, I would highly recommend the house and would stay there again. It was perfect for what we needed. However, it may not be the best choice if you have mobility issues.
