This is the cutest little house. Perfect for a couple's getaway. It is a bit farther from downtown Deadwood than we expected but that just means a great opportunity to get some steps in. The Owner is great at communicating directions for your stay and responsive to any communication.
The location is perfect! Walking distance to everything Deadwood has to offer. Bed was super comfortable, house was perfect for our weekend! Great off street parking- easy checking in and checking out! Great and easy communication with Mark Would absolutely stay here again!
This house is adorable and in the perfect spot! It was my husband and I and our old dog for a long weekend. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked and the front porch and little yard on the side were perfect for morning coffee and afternoon grilling. Mark is a great host and fast communicator. We will definitely stay here again for our next Deadwood adventures!
The property is perfect for a couple! Walking distance to downtown Deadwood, a great breakfast place across the street and a great porch for sitting outside! Furnished with plenty of things to cook with if you choose to do that. We used our hotspot for the Roku. Washer and dryer was in the basement. We will definitely stay here again.
We stayed for a week. We were able to cook or conveniently walk into town to eat at any of the wonderful restaurants, watch a shoot-out or to gamble. All major highways were easily accessible to take day trips to Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Devil's tower, Homestake Mine, Broken Boot Mine Tour, Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Roosevelt's Tower and Custer State Park. We visited the many Deadwood and Lead museums and City Hall, We had a wonderful time talking with the Deadwood archivist, Michael Runge, about the history of Deadwood. He was super knowledgeable and had a huge display of old artifacts from the 1800's found during excavations. It was a great trip!
It was OK....No TV or internet. After communicating with the host, still nothing. When you are on vacation and still running a business, you should have what he said we would have.
The location was great. Close walking distance to bars and attractions. House was decorated nicely. The only problem was that it needed a much more thorough cleaning. Mark was good at getting back to me when i brought it to his attention.
No TV, no internet. Whole place was covered in dust. Front of floor fans were black with dust and dirt. Only redeeming factor was closeness to everything in downtown Deadwood area. Three large hornets nest under eaves of house.
Small but just right for the two of us and our dog. Location is greatâŠshort walk to the historic downtown area. The bed was comfortable, there were extra pillows and bedding. There is one small AC unit next to the bed that worked hard to cool the cabin. The tv had poor reception- continuous buffering to load- not that we were there to watch tv, but it would have been nice to have at the end of the day. Kitchen could have used more pots/pans and pantry items were very limited, so I was glad we brought our own.
The property was clean - but very very small. Bed was a double the bathroom door was right next to the bed - so no bathroom privacy. The AC unit (which we did not use) was right next to the bed ...I cannot imagine two people sleeping in that small bed and using the AC . Very noisy and not very private. The overall furnishings were left over from the 70's - worn . Kitchen was fully stocked - but who wants to cook on vacation. Owner was very accomodating. However he needs to put a little money into the site!
Received call cleaning lady had dr appt so 3:00 check in would
be moved to 7pm.. No problem we found an outdoor venue with a band and ate. 7:06 received text that cleaning lady was done and we could check in. 8:32 texted Marc for key code (was never in any prior correspondence. He did not respond had to call him. 9:38 When we finally got into VRBO the place smelled (not a clean smell). Cleaning lady had just left you wouldnât have known itâ cobwebs in bedroom, headboard and night stand dusty have pics to prove it. Hair in the shower. texted him about the cleanliness concerns and for
wi-fi code. got nothing. I called local
hotels found one with two nights available at 10:18 we packed up and left! Tried to contact him the next day by phone and he did not answer sent text and I received a very rude text back. Would love to recoup some
of our loss but doubt that will happen. Tried to make a complaint on VRBO website because it said to make complaint/concern within 24 hours but it wouldnât take me to an area where I could make a statement. I hope we receive our $200 Refundable damage deposit! If there is anything you can do on our behalf to recoup some of our loss it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
Readers: Please take all the exceptional reviews with a grain of salt. This is a charming little house in a great location. The interior is acceptably clean and spacious enough for 2 guests and the kitchen is adequately equipped if you're not planning gourmet meals. However, if you want dependable internet and TV service, this may not be the place for you. The internet service is very sporadic (some days nonexistent) and the ROKU stick is too old to support Netflix or Amazon. Also, don't plan to grill out unless you can persuade the owner to purchase a new grill; the one that's there now is dangerously degraded. Hope this helps.
I do not recommend this place. It is not well maintained and has one window air conditioner (in the bedroom) that is inadequate in July. It has NO internet and NO cable so, pack those DVDs! There were cobwebs from lack of cleaning, hair in the shower, and the basement is damp and smells of mildew. Additionally, the sofa sleeper is extremely uncomfortable.
Pet owners beware. After booking, Mark sends you a pet addendum that states you will be charged an additional cleaning fee if ALL of your petâs shedding is not cleaned up. I vacuumed several times and cleaned up pet hairs that did not even come off of my pet! I took videos and photos from when I arrived and when I left due to my suspicions that he charges you regardless.
His communication was good and check-in was easy. Itâs in a great location but, his dishonesty and lack of care for the place would keep me from booking it again or recommending it.
Great location. Cabin is as described. We had a hard time with the TV. Instructions would be good for the 3 remotes. Great spot for a few days enjoying the area. Thanks!
Property as described. Good communication with owner before and during stay. Easy walk to the center of town. We ate breakfast at the cafe across the street every morning. Great food at a great price. Enjoyed our stay.
we liked the 4 block walk to main street deadwood! clean, comfortable, had all we needed to sleep, cook, and relax. we evaluate a property by water pressure in shower (very good), kitchen appliances working, comfortable couch, grill available, and comfortable porch to sit to relax!!!! all very good!!!
While you would think of a cabin (it reminds you once you are inside) as in the woods, or by the lake, this one is a cute city charmer. Comfy, all the amenities you need. Easy walking to downtown and close to the trails. Mark was extremely helpful answering questions we had. We will stay again if we do another side by side ride week!
Perfect location for a weekend stay in Deadwood. Great location! My husband and I were able to easily walk downtown, and then come home to the quiet of this cute house. A window AC unit kept the bedroom nice and comfortable at night. A bonus was that this place allowed our dogs to stay with us for an additional (refundable) deposit. It's not a big space, so I would only recommend staying here with dogs if your dogs are well-behaved and not super high energy (there's not a fenced yard, but there is a grassy patch next to the house to let them out on leash to potty).
