Beautiful, Historic, Downtown Home - 1/2 block from Iditarod
Located on a quiet residential street in downtown Anchorage, this home was built in 1941 making it one of Anchorage's more historic homes. Fully updated and remodeled in 2022-2023, this charming and stylish house is within walking distance of shopping, dining, and tourist attractions, including the Anchorage Museum and the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. A famous entertainer stayed at this charming home while on a USO tour to Alaska during WWII.
This home is not only convenient for walking to conveniences, dining, and entertainment but also just a short drive to the major highways heading both north and south of Anchorage making it easy to access Alaska adventure!
Beau was an excellent host. The property has 3 beds and 3 baths which gave everyone plenty of space. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a home base in Anchorage.
The owner was very communicative and answered any question we had. This home is updated on the inside. Kitchen is well equipped - note coffee is not stocked, but they do have sugar and whatever leftovers previous guests have left. The LR areas are a bit small but worked for our family of 4. The first impression pulling up to the home isn't great, but the neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. Having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms is very nice! Hot water is almost immediate, shower pressure was good. My husband and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom and did not like the bed. It was very firm and moved with any movements in the bed like turning over, getting out, etc. It was not restful. I should've paid closer attention to the bed types in the photos. Overall the stay was good. We mostly slept at the house as we were very active.
This house was just remodeled. Brand new appliances with coffee bean grinder and lots of extras in the kitchen. Comfortable beds with beautiful linens. Great smart television in the lower level family room. Walking distance to the downtown area. Easy pick up by Uber. Beau is very helpful. Strong WiFi.
Our group of 6 (siblings and spouses) made the trip to see the northern lights, Iditarod, Fur Rondy and even the ice festival in Fairbanks. This home was ideally situated within walking distance of the Iditarod. The home may look a bit dated on the outside, but donât be up fooled, everything inside has been updated beautifully and artfully. The kitchen is state of the art and three bedrooms-three baths were perfect for three couples. The beds were comfortable, home was spotless, well appointed, warm and cozy. Even in 4° and windy conditions the windows were tight and draft-free. Everything you could possibly need is provided, including off-street parking. Beau was an attentive host. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Beau. Winter in Alaska may scare folks away, but we were awe-struck by its beauty and think itâs Alaskaâs best kept secret.
We stayed in anchorage and went to Whittier and Palmer for day trips. This house was a great location and close to restaurants. Beds comfortable and neighborhood quiet
