Situated on a ridge top of the tallest mountain in the county this totally secluded and newly constructed cottage provides the perfect retreat from a fast paced lifestyle. Abundant wildlife and hiking with incredible views.
Comfortable, clean, well supplied. Wonderful outdoor shower! An absolutely delightful stay! I highly recommend! And a drive over the mountain to Burkes Garden is worth the adventure!
Perfect getaway in a beautiful cabin with gorgeous views! The owners did not spare any details providing us with a wonderful stay. This is a secluded setting with all the amenities one could ask for.
Pictures do not do this property justice. Everything was beautiful. The house was extremely clean and updated, and the views are breathtaking. Marc and Lindy were great hosts with a brief meeting explaining how the heat/AC worked and letting us know where they are if we needed anything. Everything was thoughtfully laid out and well stocked with various seating areas both indoor and out to enjoy the tranquility. We will definitely be back.
The secluded ridge top cabin was wonderful!! It was quite an adventure driving up the mountain but once we arrived... the cabin, mountain views and front porch peace were amazing!! We enjoyed our restful stay! Thank you for your welcoming visit, Marc and Lindy.
Don't be daunted by the drive! It is well worth the effort, and easier than it looks. This is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Mark and Lindy are wonderful hosts and there is nothing that I would change about this place! We hope to go back often.

I want to thank Marc and Lindy for making us feel at home from the very moment we arrived. They greeted us when we arrived and they were so welcoming and made you feel like family. The beauty of the cabin was breath taking, with all the woodwork and craftsmanship. It definitely was the perfect place to unplug and take in nature. Look forward to coming again and stay for longer.
The cabin was beautiful on a gorgeous mountain top. The owners provided everything necessary for our stay, including a fruit basket and two canned drinks in the refrigerator. I would have loved to use the outside fire pit, but the cool and wet weather kept us inside where it was warm and cozy.
This was our second time staying here, we absolutely love the house, the location, quiet, woods, views, path and the hosts. We hope to go back again and again. Wonderful retreat to unplug.
I loved this place. Iâve stayed at a lot of cabins throughout the Appalachians. This one is very rare in actually being located deep in the woods, providing a ton of privacy and beautiful nature. The cabin itself is on a private driveway and backed up against secluded woods. Itâs also decorated very well. We loved the first and second floor balconies allowing you to sit outside and read and relax, not to mention the hammock. I would give the owner feedback more than 5 stars if I could. They left a handwritten message on the counter for us before we got there and all of the information we needed. They text me back quickly when I reached out. I wished we were able to stay longer.
Being avid backpackers,we desired to live as deep in the woods as was possible. So we started homesteading this property 23 years ago and love it so much that we thought that, perhaps, others would enjoy it as much as we do. So we built another cottage on the property and look forward sharing the experience.
Convenient to the nearby town of Wytheville but totally secluded. To access this property you must, first, find your way up the mountain. If you're the adventurous type and don't mind a drive up a well maintained dirt road , we think you will find it worth the effort. As you start up through a typical Appalachian holler you pass a by a few local residences but as you venture further up the road it turns into more of a National Forest type setting. We are located 1.6 miles off the main road on a private, gated property and situated on a ridge top with incredible views of the nearby mountains.
Depending on the time of year, you can enjoy long hikes in the adjoining Jefferson National Forest, forage for wild mushrooms, visit a Paleozoic fossil site just up the trail or explore the Appalachian Trail on the next ridge over. In the spring the rhododendron and mountain laurel are spectacular. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 30 miles away and the tallest mountain in Virginia, Mt Rogers with Grayson Highlands State Park and the famous wild ponies are also close by. You also might like to check out the Virginia Creeper Trail where you can rent a bike and spend the day coasting down an old railroad grade through spectacular scenery. The nearby town of Wytheville is only 8 miles distant and boasts two micro breweries the newly renovated Milwald Theater, several interesting museums and many eclectic eateries.
