Beautiful home. Our stay was very enjoyable and we found great places to eat Mo's and Drifters both great restaurants. We really enjoyed the house and would highly recommend a stay.
The host of this home was very accommodating & nice. The house was very comfy & cozy. Just a minute walk to the main street and close to the harbor & park. We also traveled with our 2 small dogs & this house worked well for them as well.
Wow! I love the decor in the house! Full of eclectic artwork & style. Since we were there in business didnât really get to enjoy the entire property but a great place to relax and feel at home!
We loved our stay at the Swede House. We were in town for a funeral with our grown children. The house was beautifully decorated, clean, and had everything we needed. It is set in a quiet neighborhood one block off of Ludington which had plenty of restaurants, very convenient. Many thanks to the owner for the extra coffee!
Wonderful Dutch-colonial full of interesting antiques. Very large bedrooms upstairs, each very private. One block from many restaurants and coffee shops. Enjoyed walking and driving through the historical neighborhood. A few blocks from Lake Michigan. We stayed during Christmas and did a lot of cooking. Had everything we needed in the kitchen. Will stay agsin in the future.
Loved....Loved....Loved The pictures do not do the house justice. The owner is helpful and welcoming and hopefully the next time we're up there we can stay there again.
We had a great stay with two adults, a toddler and two dogs. Everything was comfortable and Jerry was very accommodating and easy to work and communicate with. The house was clean and quiet and we didnât even notice the tenants (who were very nice) in the basement apartment other than our dogs alerting here and there. Overall a great stay! If you travel with small kids, just be prepared to put some of the beautiful but toddler tempting items away behind the doors in the sunroom to keep them safe.
The Swedes House is truly a gem. The house was clean, comfortable and was exactly as listed. Check-in and out were a breeze. Communication with Jerry was excellent! We took a star away for the location/neighborhood, but that was really due to some noisy neighbors down the street, which no one can really control. Our stay was fantastic. Highly recommend!!!
You guys have tell people that somebody else can be renting the basement at the same time that you rent the house. Overall beutifull house need more deep cleaning.
I did a walk through when I got there, because I had broke my foot and wanted to see how many steps on the stairs. The house needed to be thoroughly cleaned, a lot of cobwebs for me. Then I found out that reading an email they send out to Vrbo renters that someone would be in the basement! Freaked us all out. Luckily no one was renting out the basement. The host was very good, very helpful, and very responsive.
My wife and I stayed at this property while we were in Escanaba for a funeral. The property is older, but in a good way. Beautiful older home, nicely furnished, but still very comfortable. The owner was very quick to answer any questions, and had the home nicely prepared for our stay. We will probably be returning to the UP next year and plan to stay at "The Swede" if it's available. One thing to note. The home is 2 story, and the bedrooms are upstairs. please keep this in mind for older/elderly guests who may have issues with navigating stairs. Again, it's a beautiful home, and we had a great stay.
Love being a host as I have the opportunity to make guestsâ stays the very best which is why I offer quite sincerely my help with anything that a guest may have a question or concern about. This is my family home which I was brought up in and my mother was born and raised an is a special place I want to share with others.
100 year old historic home built by a Swedish contractor for a Swedish family which lived there for three generations. The build quality in this home is unusual and has many modern upgrades that enhance the ambiance and character of the home without compromising its original aesthetic.
