Built in 1817 this is one of the oldest estates in Maryland. It has old slave quarters on the property and an 8 hole outhouse along with a summer kitchen that was used for cooking. (both being renovated) It has 7 fireplaces and a great room with bar. A large music room with a circa 1850 box piano. My wife and i were married here last year with over 100 guests. We wish the walls could talk!! month of July and August, book a week-end and you can have thursday or sunday free, 2025 only.
2.5 hours from Washington D.C. this spacious 5BR 2.5BA farmhouse is on a secluded 75-acre property near Manchester, MD, in scenic Carroll County. It promises a relaxing retreat near the state line, exciting local attractions, and natural landmarks.

The host was very friendly and responded quickly to any questions. Everything was clean and the property was very interesting. The location was great just a few minutes from town.
This is our second week-long Christmas stay at the Trevanion House. We absolutely love everything about it! What stands out the most is Mike, the host. He goes above & beyond to make sure our stay is special & memorable. He is very accommodating & easy to reach. The house itself is clean, comfortable & welcoming. Well-appointed kitchen AND summer kitchen. We will be back, for sure!
My wife and I booked this house the night before and the night of our wedding. Her bridal party stayed the night before and got ready there the day of. She said it was âexactly what they neededâ to get ready. The house is beautiful and has a lot of character. Will definitely stay here again.
We stayed with extended family for a wedding happening at Venue Bouchon. It was perfect. 4 miles away. It handled all the needs. Mike was awesome strongly recommend to anyone with an eye for history or a group get together
We enjoyed our stay. The house was spacious and comfortable. Couple minor suggestions, I would recommend a couple pieces of cook wear ie Pyrex bake wear be added, revamp of outside seating, labeling light switches. No complaints.
The house and property are amazing! So much history. The house had everything we needed, was clean and spacious. Perfect location to the wedding venu 5 min away.
Our extended family found Trevanion a great place for our annual rendezvous in the Gettysburg area. We are a large group (12) with wide age range (8-75), and there was plenty of space for all. Large dining room was a perfect setting for our group meals and evening game nights. The house is huge, plenty of room for all to spread out. The "Pub Room" is great fun, a definite plus for a group gathering. A big bonus was the non-advertised farm animals (chickens and several cows, including a 6-month old calf!). Owner Mike Campbell invited us to help feed the animals and shared lots of interesting info about the house and property. A very engaging and responsive host.
This is one special house! It has so much charm and history but has been updated to be very comfortable. It is perfect for a large group....there is so much room to spread out, the bedrooms (actually most of the rooms) are very big, plenty of nice modern bathrooms, big formal dining room. The kitchen and eating area open to a large living area so everyone can be together while you are preparing meals. There is a great bar/pub room right off the kitchen. We cooked every meal at home and found the kitchen had everything we needed, including large dishwasher. Linens were plentiful and nice, beds were very comfortable. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived. The outside area is also very big and there were chickens and cows that pleased our grandkids. Mike was a wonderful and accomodating host, responding to our questions immediately and filling us in on the history of the house. I don't think the pictures do justice to how nice it is! We were there this January on some of the coldest days so far, and I do have to mention that it could get cold in some parts of the house. The room heaters helped. Our grandkids kept asking if we could come back, and all of us felt we would rent it again without reservations.
This was a great experience for our family coming in from out of town. A large house with plenty of bedrooms for large family and friends. Beds were comfortable and lots of rooms to hang out in. Very interesting old house with lots of history.
Family reunion & birthday get together. We were 11 people slept very comfortably, it is a huge Victorian house so be prepared for some drafty spots in the winter. Other than taking a bit to get warmed up we had a great time well appointed kitchen. Well supplied with towels for the crew we were. Really had a great time!
We had lived in Maryland about 30 years ago and were going back to celebrate mom's 90th birthday. The 19th Century Mansion/Farm House, was a great place for people to spread apart and at the same time visit and enjoy one another. Lots of history to explore in the areas as well.Mike was an AWESOME host! His kindness and willingness to help and provide was great! What a kind gentleman! We really had a GREAT time!
We had a historical themed gals weekend and this place fit the bill perfectly. The building was comfortable and clean and quite magnificent. The owner was very hospitable and easy to communicate with. We had a great time!
The house was even more than we were hoping for. Large enough for everyone to have space and still be together. It was quiet and a good place to relax after sightseeing in
Family here for event. The mansion was the perfect mix of space, informality and comfort. I had people from 5 different families and we were able to visit and still have private time.
We were having a family trip to experience Gettysburg and DC. Our stay here added to our experience; the history and grandness amazed us all. Michael is a great host! We would highly recommend a stay here and my family has talked about possibly going back again sometime we loved the house so much.
This historic property is a wonderful place for a group getaway. Very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms are almost brand new. Kitchen is well equipped and gathering spaces are abundant. Host was super responsive and provided us the perfect place for a mini college reunion. Can't wait to go back again.
Very large accommodations for several families. Bedrooms are huge! Fresh eggs from the property chickens every day. Check out the summer kitchen outbuilding with fireplace!
We stayed at this historic mansion with several of our families from Michigan for our sonâs wedding. Everyone was amazed at the history this home holds. This home is so large you could literally get lost exploring, plenty of room for everyone. Mike was a very responsive host.
The property owner allowed me to rent the place to use as a location to get ready the day of my wedding. My entire bridal party stayed the night and we had a wonderful time. The historical charm of the property made for amazing photos! Mike was very responsive and was very hospitable! Would highly recommend, especially to those who appreciate history!
