10/10 Excellent

My husband needed to go to Duke for a challenging three-month medical procedure, so we searched for a place that felt like "home" but was close to the hospital and his cancer clinic. This house â about 9 minutes from the medical facilities â fit our needs perfectly. The open kitchen-dining-living space was comfortable, and our dog loved the fenced-in back yard. There is one bedroom and one full bathroom on the first floor, and two bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second floor, so we were also able to carve out private spaces and accommodate a caregiver part of the time. Although the house is on a busy road, it is set back, and the deck looks out onto a nice patch of trees. We rarely glimpsed the neighbors on either side. One of the best parts of the location is that you can walk down the residential streets on either side of the property and drop down onto a path by a sweet little creek. That path connects with a beautiful trail along the Eno River. Both are great for dog walking or just human walking. So many deer! (In one direction you do have to walk along the busy road for a short distance to get to the side street, but the landlord gave us permission to walk through the adjoining yard in the other direction, as she owns that property too.) Random tip: Don't miss the Durham Farmers Market! The only other thing I can think to mention is that there IS a dishwasher; we weren't sure from the listing and photos. We would definitely stay here again.
