Thank you for staying with us Deirdre. I am happy to hear that you found our home well cared for. I am sorry there wasn’t a clearer explanation that the majority of houses in the keys are raised. I did go ahead and really spell that out in our description so that future guests are not surprised by this as well. It is very difficult to avoid this set up in the keys particularly in newer homes where the building code requires raising for hurricane/storm safety. Thankfully, we are now fully aware of some problems with our lift. You were only like the 6th or 7th group of rentals since we purchased the home and this is the first time we experienced such difficulties with the lift. Hopefully the very expansive deck/tie up area didn’t make it too terrible for you. We appreciate the communication regarding the troubles and are patiently waiting for our repairs to be complete which mostly have to do with not raising the lift up out of the water when not in use. We will have it sorted out very soon 👍🏻 I’ll let Home Depot know that your husband isn’t a fan of their grills :) It is a brand new grill and unfortunately, the selections on the keys are fairly limited so we thought we chose well with a Home Depot grill. We do have the home listed very accurately for size, layout & pictures & I would agree that 6 adults and 2 dogs is probably the max for that size home. I’m sorry to say that much of Cheryl’s review is accurate although not all and most just very unfortunate timing. Our listing clearly states that the inground pool will not be in until late 2024 so not sure where the confusion before came from. As for the above the ground pool, we did say we were installing one and sadly, our contractors did not complete it as promised and it was not in until 2 days after Cheryl left early. We did communicate prior to the stay as well as via calls & text every day of that first week Cheryl stayed. She was always pleasant, friendly and understanding and even shared her own difficulties on her farm with help theses days. Never once, in any of the communication, did she express anything but compliments about how great we staged our home which I see was not reviewed at all even though the house is what she rented not the 18x9 above the ground pool. We told Cheryl prior to staying that our rate was priced 20-30% lower than the progressional realtors recommended due to the fact we consider that we have no pool until the inground goes in. We even shared that if she wanted to return next year, what the rate would be with pool. In short, Cheryl did not pay anything extra for the 1 amenity of a temporary pool. We first offered Cheryl a discount if she chose to stay and she made the choice to leave with 6 days left of her stay. She was compensated for all of those days, not just 3. We offered a 3 night discount if she choose to stay but ended up refunded her 6. The first time we heard from her with dissatisfaction was 2 days prior to her deciding to leave and it coincided with our neighbor beginning the construction of their new pool. This was, as stated, a noisy/annoying 3 days process. We were given no advance notice ourselves and I recognize how frustrating that must have been and we were very dissatisfied ourselves that there was no warning. It is our belief that this was the driving force of why Cheryl was all of a sudden so unhappy. We never heard anything negative from her until this began. Although I under no obligation to let Cheryl out of her lease, we chose to do so very next day after she asked. It is sad that this review, our first, became about a temporary pool and neighbors construction with not one mention of our lovely home and how accommodating we tried to be. Kelly
