Cottage d'été historique sur Pristine Long Pond, cuisine récemment rénovée

Êtes-vous un amoureux de la nature? Apley House est l'endroit idéal pour vous. Vous pouvez voir des aigles voler au-dessus de vous pendant que vous parcourez des sentiers sablonneux qui mènent autour des tourbières à canneberges et des étangs boisés. Profitez de la baignade, de la pêche et du canotage depuis votre propre plage privée sur le long étang immaculé.

Apley House accueille des vacances en famille heureuse depuis plus de 80 ans. Il propose un hébergement spacieux pour le ménage pouvant accueillir jusqu'à 9 personnes. Le gîte dispose de quatre chambres, une cuisine de campagne (rénovée en 2016!)et un grand salon confortable avec cheminée. Les espaces de rassemblement extérieurs comprennent un porche grillagé à l'avant, une terrasse à l'arrière et une grande cour avec beaucoup d'espace pour les jeux de pelouse. Il y a deux bains: en bas a une douche spacieuse (nouveau 2016) et une buanderie (nouveau 2016), le bain à l'étage a une baignoire sur pattes historique avec douche à main.

Située au milieu d'un terrain préservé, cette spacieuse maison d'été est parfaite pour les amateurs de sports nautiques et de plein air. Vous pouvez nager, pêcher et naviguer sur l'un des lacs glaciaires immaculés du sud-est du Massachusetts. Profitez de promenades tranquilles le long des sentiers boisés et visitez les sites historiques à proximité de Plymouth et de Cape Cod. De plus, Apley House est à une courte distance en voiture des commerces, des plages de l'océan et des grands terrains de golf de Plymouth. Évitez de vous battre avec le trafic de Cape Cod et restez à Plymouth.

Il y a tellement de choses à faire dans la région: la natation, la pêche et la navigation de plaisance sont les activités préférées de Long Pond. Le lac est bien approvisionné chaque printemps et il y a une rampe publique pour y accéder. De nombreux sentiers de randonnée et pistes cyclables se dirigent vers les propriétés Wildlands Trust à côté du chalet et vous conduisent à travers les bois et les tourbières à canneberges autour des étangs Halfway et Gallows. Le paysage est magnifique. Nous avons vu des balbuzards pêcheurs, des aigles, des visons et plus encore. Il est un lecteur facile aux sites touristiques de Plymouth et Cape Cod à proximité; il faut environ 15 minutes pour se rendre aux plages de Plymouth Bay et Plymouth Plantation. Les plages du Lower Cape sont à environ 45 minutes et il est à moins de 5 km de Pine Hills et de nombreux grands parcours de golf de Plymouth!

Nous avons des chalets et des cabines supplémentaires à environ 1/2 mile de Apley House. Vous pouvez les ajouter à votre location ou les prendre individuellement en une, deux ou quatre chambres. Nous sommes parfois en mesure d'accueillir des groupes plus importants (jusqu'à 35) dans toute la propriété.

Beautiful Rustic Retreat

We had a fantastic time at the Apley House. We brought my parents (in their mid 70’s), and our adult children, my parents stayed in the bottom bedroom and we all stayed upstairs which worked perfectly. The house and surrounding area is beautiful! We hiked, swam in the lake, canoed, fished, had a cookout, did 3 of the provided puzzles, played games, drank coffee on the front porch, and went site seeing in Plymouth. We had a question about the property and one of the owner’s stopped by promptly, learning we enjoyed fishing he dropped off 2 poles that allowed us to catch some perch and pike (which we released back into the lake). We all loved the accommodations and area. We are looking forward to coming back sometime in the future. Thank you!

Best Vacation Rental Ever

I just loved this house and all the character. While it was hot in house upon arrival it was easily cooled down by opening windows and use of fans. Great proximity to activities in the area. Very clean qnd well taken care of. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. So many fond memories made at the Apley House. Terrific!

Our stay was perfect. I loved the size of the space for my family and two year old. The eight person table was great for nightly game nights, the kitchen was well equipped and had everything we were looking for, and the living room was spacious enough for everybody to be comfortable. The pond across the street is absolutely heavenly especially in the morning when the sun hits the dock. I couldn’t believe how clear the water was I almost didn’t want to leave to do other activities. Next time perhaps I won’t! The laundry facilities served as an added bonus too an already perfect stay. Thank you for ample towels in the bathroom and the kitchen!

Lovely lake cottage!

This was a really lovely cottage. Some family members thought a bit too rustic, but it’s a classic lake house. The lake was absolutely gorgeous with a clean, private beach! Owners were responsive to any messages. We didn’t realize there wasn’t any A/C, so if you’re going in the summer, prepare to be a little warm!

Very easy to rent, get information about house, and answered immediately when we called. It was more rustic for some family members than expected and perfectly rustic for others. Everything was great. First experience in New England area was a success. Thank you!

Peace on earth

Can’t say enough about this rental property. The remnants of yesteryear in this old summer house brought us back to a simpler, slower time. Loved every old part of this home-the windows and screens, the double doors out to the porch with the old style locks, the rustic walls that tell you it’s summer. The lake was clean, clear and serene with splashes of water lilies. Close to Plymouth bay for some sea time. Plymouth center is a perfect escape for the young adults. Dirt road, pine needles, birdsong, fox, woodsy path. Best vacation.

Great stay in such a lovely old house with modern conveniences.

This house was wonderful and such a pleasure to stay in. I was particularly impressed by how clean it was. We have three small children so I found myself having to crawl under the bed and go behind the tv to retrieve roll away toys a few times and it was remarkably clean. Her housekeepers are well worth the housekeeping fee. The water was fun and warm and we enjoyed the private little lake spot. Great stay!

sweet stay

House was rustic enough to feel like a summer cottage but updated enough to function comfortably. It was bigger than we expected and that was nice, but with no insulation in the walls and upstairs floors you could hear every creak and conversation. We had 6 kids ages 11-18 so it was quite noisy We felt like we had to whisper in our downstairs room not just for privacy but to keep from waking anyone up. Inside the house was pretty dark. A few bright lights in the bedrooms would have made a difference. The kitchen table got the most light but it wasn't big enough to fit us all and the screen porch was okay, but again, not a lot of natural light for sitting and eating meals together. The pond was beautiful! Unbelievably clear with a sandy bottom that led out to the floating dock. Pretty shallow for a long time which can be nice. Quiet lake too, not too many motor boats, more sail boats and kayaks which we prefer. Beautiful trails right from the yard which I wish we took more advantage of but even just strolling along the dirt road was lovely. Not too far from grocery stores or Plymouth center which was nice. Overall it was a lovely stay.

Relaxing, quaint, scenic, rustic

All of the comforts of home with added ambiance and waterfront. We were able to turn a work project to a small vacation and get together with colleagues. We were treated like royalty and can’t want to go back to our oasis in the woods.

Greatest Vacation Ever

A little confusion upon check in - kitchen doors locked, put the 7 year old grandson through the window to get the key. All perfect from then on. Best plumbing of any home I’ve stayed in. Wonderful shower and no problem with flushing or running water elsewhere at the same time.

Lack of heat is reason for rating...see comments

Liked the location, loved the rustic authenticity, but DID NOT realize there was NO HEAT, other than a fireplace (which we didn’t use), or from a couple electric heaters located in a closet. The cold was ok, but the cold rain caused a dampness in the House when we returned each evening.

Wonderful second stay at Apley cottage. Highly recommended.

This is our second stay and we are once again highly pleased. The house is always in perfect order on arrival. Our guests and we rave about the comfort of the beds. The bath and beach towels are a nice plus this year. The kitchen is well appointed with pots, pans, and utensils. There is a new flat screen TV and the internet is reliable. Cell phones work great here as well. The beach is small but the pond is clear bottom and the raft is a blast for adults and children. We always bring fans from home to add to the ones provided so the house is cool even in very warm weather. The owners are very responsive to any needs. We are already on board for next year!

Apley House, Plymouth, MA

We loved this cottage ! Not fancy, but comfortable, which is exactly what we were looking for with young grandchildren. Downstairs has a large living room complete with a fireplace and table with leaves to seat a crowd. Kitchen is great. Upstairs was a little warm but 3 bedrooms and bath very pleasant. Long Pond is awesome, clean, and with the dock and raft, the kids had a blast. The dirt road makes you feel far away from it all, but when you need to get on the highway it's only minutes away. The trails and woods surrounding the cottage were a bonus, well maintained and great for nature walks or running. Thanks for the memories !

The cottage was as described. We really loved the charm of it.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our grandchildren came and spent 4 days with us and really enjoyed the water. The cottage had plenty of room for all of us and had everything we needed. Though there is no A/C there are plenty of fans provided. It is very peaceful and rustic which I truly enjoyed. We spent the day in Plymouth at the Plantation and Plymouth Rock which our granddaughters truly loved. If you want peace and quiet and relaxation this is the cottage for you. Would definitely rent again.

We had a fabulous time. Perfect for our 3-generation family.

Great old summer cottage. Perfect combination of rustic and comfortable. Fully equipped. The property’s private beach is gorgeous. Crystal clear water. Sandy beach and bottom with a nice gradual increase in depth so our toddler grandchild could wade in. We enjoyed swimming, paddling in the canoe, and just sitting by the lake. The beach offers a nice mix of sun and shade. We enjoyed evening meals on the screened-in porch and great hikes on the trails through conservation land right near the property. We can’t wait to go back.

We had an awesome time!

The cabin was super clean, the bedrooms were spacious, the kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and pots and pans, the hot water was plentiful. On one night, we had 9 adults stay over and we we very comfortable. We had 11 adults over for a cook out and the 5 burner grill handled all the cooking. The landlord was always available and answered all our questions promptly. It was a absolutely positive experience and I would highly recommend renting from Susan and family. There is only one issue, and I'll put the "blame" on me. I should have asked or done more research. The cabin is waterfront, but the waterfront is across the street and down a trail about 100', so we didn't get a water view. The trail to the water was a little steep so guests will mobility issues couldn't enjoy the beachfront. The beach itself was great, the shore had a sandy bottom. Again, we had a great time and would highly recommend this cabin.

Wonderful place, and the renovations just make it better!

We had been here 3 years ago and loved it. The location is quiet and practically ON a nice trail system. The house speaks 'cottage', which we are very comfortable with. We were delighted with the upgrades! We want that kitchen in our house! Everything was done to preserve the look and feel of the original, and added a well-cared-for appearance. Altogether a nice, relaxing week in a very traditional cottage with well-done amenities.

House needs updating

My family stayed at the Apley House last summer. It was our first time in Plymouth, and although we had a great time, the house itself is in dire need of updating. The listing states it has an updated country kitchen, which is not the case, it has old cabinets, some drawers that the front would hang off, nothing is updated. Then there is the downstairs bathroom, it is so old, there were spiders in the corners, it had an awful mildew smell, the floor was a mess, it needed updating very badly as well. The family room and sun porch were nice, no complaints there. The beds in one of the bedrooms were awful, we had to carry the cushions from the couch and use them on top of the bed to make it comfortable. The outside lights at the back wouldn't work, they were sensor lights and would go on in the daytime but not at night, making it very hard to see coming from the driveway. There weren't even bulbs in the front outside lights. The area is very lovely and close to Boston and Salem, the easy access to the lake was great, they just need to put a little work into the house and it will be a true vacation dreamhouse.

The property is currently owned jointly by five siblings, descendants of Lily and Richard Conant (grandparents) who inherited the property from a close family friend and Rick and Gerda (our parents). Our children are the fourth generation to summer on Long Pond. The photo shows our mom and her five children.

Although much of summer life on Long Pond is focused on the water, we love the woodland paths and walks that surround Apley House. Our family is committed to preservation of this area -- we donated 40 acres of woodland just next to the cottage to the Wildlands Trust and the State of Massachusetts recently acquired the property abutting the other property line.
