The home was cozy and our hosts were very responsive to some unexpected needs that came up. The only thing I would say is I wish there would have been more of a advisory or notice of the distance and climb it takes to get from the top of the road to the house.

We weren't able to make it into the house because of an icy pathway. The first section of rope used to help your way down the path was missing.
What the real icy, slick, steep, dangerous pathway is going down to the house.

The owners were very nice and accommodating. They made everything from check in to check out very easy. The location was very beautiful and quiet. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you for the review. I am sorry you felt the home wasn't super clean, we do our best to maintain a high quality and will address with our cleaners. With regard to the hot tub, I wish you told me during your stay so we could have addressed the issue - sometimes if the wrong button is selected, it can accidentally get knocked into a mode that doesn't maintain the heat or circulation - and it can be easily fixed! Next time reach out to us during your stay. Our address is provided early on and the VRBO maps show the home is up the mountain in St. Mary's, so yes, this is about a 20 minutes drive to the town of Idaho Springs. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Great stay

Beautiful view, hot tub was nice, simple checkin and checkout process. Stairs to get down to the house a bit daunting, especially at the elevation, but manageable.

Great Mountain Escape!

Came up with a group of coworkers for a reunion, the cabin is spacious and perfect for large groups, and the view is amazing from the porch. Excellent place for a five star mountain cabin retreat with friends and family. The owners were very communicative and thorough in their check in and check out process. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Very spacious and beautiful.

The stairs and the thin air were challenging at first for a group from Florida :) but we knew what we were getting into. Once we got acclimated everything was fine and we had a great time.

GET AWAY FROM IT ALL

If you want to escape the everyday drag of city life, come up here. Nice place. Kid friendly. They played outside on the tire swing every day for hours. Everything you need is there. Good close by fishing. Town is a bit of a drive but that's what you get when you want to get away.

Women’s retreat

Great stay! All the ladies loved it! Roomy and cozy! We had a few issues. Property entrance is difficult to get to! Especially if you have a lot of items which we did. The path ended at a certain point and the path was icy! The dishwasher was broken so we washed everything by hand last complaint was the hot tub. It was gross! It probably should just be replaced or removed.

We are sorry about the difficulty you had with the entrance, the path is in the photos for everyone to see up front and we didn't realize the ice was an issue and had our snow plow team come right away when you alerted us. We confirmed the dishwasher was working so may have just been a confusion on how to use it. Our hot tub is also in good condition so we are not sure why you didn't enjoy it - this is the first time we heard about this, so please let us know during your stay in the future, so we can quickly address it and add to your enjoyable vacation. Perfect for big family

We had a big family with five kids and there was plenty of room! Plenty of beds and also a nice basement with an extra TV and games. The grounds were lush and right in the middle of the tree tops - secluded and beautiful. And only minutes from St. Mary’s trailhead. Morning coffee on the porch was amazing. Just be aware that if you stay here the house is built on the side of a mountain. So the grounds are somewhat steep and there is a long staircase from the driveway down to the house. It’s difficult getting suitcases or anything heavy into and out of the house. Also it is a bit of a drive to a Idaho Springs (22 min) so be aware if that as well. Other than that it is a fabulous property!! We loved our stay!

Enjoyable Stay in a Lovely Location

Denise was an exceptional host! She consistently provided prompt communication from prior to the official booking through after the check out of our stay. The kitchen was well equipped. The house was clean. The check in/out process was super easy. My oldest son and his wife especially enjoyed the French press coffee maker. My teen daughter and her friend enjoyed the hot tub. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the mountain side and enjoying the breeze. The property is breath taking in more ways than one! The steps up from the house returning to the vehicles are no joke. They look harmless in the property photos, but at 10,000 ft. elevation, it proved to be a challenging task for young and old alike. The walk down the stairs wasn’t quite as difficult. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay.

Disarray

Trash was left all over the deck, and furniture rugs scattered everywhere. Hard to enjoy the view while we were tripping over everything. Bathroom tile in guest bathroom downstairs is broken in front of toilet, and my kids were tripping over it all weekend. Bathtub in the master bathroom was filled with dirt and debris and had to clean it out myself before I could bathe my son. Open holes in ceiling of bathroom, and a putrid smell coming from the bathroom. Guest bedroom by front door mattress was broken, so the older couple sleeping in there were rolling on top of each other all night. In theory this is a great place to stay, but once we got in there it was not worth the money I paid. Tried to contact the host privately with no response.

Hi Ragan - thanks for the note. Had you reached out during, we would have resolved the issue immediately. As mentioned, we had work done in the house the day before you checked in and we weren't aware the tub was left with debris by the plumber! The debris outside was a result of melted snow, so we were unaware it was left by prior renters until the snow melted. The mattress was never reported to us by any other guest, and we are still not seeing the issue, but would have MORE than happy to address had we known the issues. Not sure why you are saying you tried contacting us, there are no messages in the app from you other than the one you sent after check out and I was never contacted privately throughout your entire stay. We are sorry you didn't have a good experience and as mentioned, we are happy to provide a discount for any future stays. Be well, Denise

Nice mountain getaway

Wonderful stay in a beautiful area. House was warm and inviting, had most everything we needed, including games. Nice location, close to St Mary's and Idaho Springs. Great lay out, 2 bedrooms on main floor, 2 upstairs. Host was quick to respond and helpful. Beware the stairs to the entrance are steep and long - not ideal for hauling things back and forth, could be tricky in winter months. Overall, nice home, but could use some attention: We were a bit disappointed the hot tub was not working, as that was one of the main reasons we decided on this place. Luke warm water, error message when trying to warm it. Appears there are some known water leaks and those are in the middle of being addressed (patches on ceiling). The shower head in the guest room upstairs bathroom needs to be replaced, it shoots water at an angle that goes outside the shower area and likely causing the leak on the floor below. The ceiling fan in that same room would not turn on. The thermostats were in need of upgrading, we didn't touch them during our trip. One is velcroed to the wall. Suggestion: House could use a can opener. The dartboard was fun, but only 2 darts are in decent condition, the other 2 were taped. The dartboard itself needs to be secured, it spins when a dart strikes it. Assuming these can be addressed, we hope to stay again down the road. Thanks!

St.Marys is a special place with the elevation allowing for a true mountain experience- we have seen moose and bears and just feel so remote and away from it all. Love to hike. Fish on the lake and enjoy skiing just a short car ride away.
