Our stay in this cabin was absolutely incredible! So many memories made and so many beautiful sights. Will definitely be making our way back here!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay!! Take care and hope we see you again next year!
So much potential for such a beautiful place to stay.
This cabin was in a great location, had a great view, & it has lots of potential but until some simple improvements are made we would look for other places to stay next time.
Pros: Beautiful view, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of wood for wood stove & decent AC. The description of driveway let us know it would be a bit rough & we expected as much. Easy instructions for check in/out. Cons: Not very clean, kitchen floors were not mopped prior to our stay, stained carpets, pests, although mostly to be expected in the woods, there was a dead ROACH in the bathroom, roach droppings on toaster (we have pictures), & constant centipedes/crickets inside cabin without ever having left the door open. Tiny Shower/Water Heater, if you have to space your showers out, so there is hot water for everyone. WiFi was non existent. We realized calling the owner would be pointless as the problem was the setup (1 slow internet service w/3 cabins using a range extender). After staying at 15+ AirBnB’s/VRBO’s, this was the first time we were EVER required to clean the entire rental & then also charged a cleaning fee. We joked that we would have cleaned the linens if it meant we could get a cleaning fee back. I read responses to other reviews about this & owner said cleaning fee was to “stock clean linens & have toiletries/coffee” There was Suave 2in1 & some lotion, no coffee or other items to warrant this fee, again, we would have washed the linens since that was just $5 at the laundry mat instead. Suggestions: Update bathmats, decor, remove stained/old carpets, clean baseboards, & windows. A few $$ could make this place feel fresher, cleaner, & maybe warrant the $$ charged. Update shower, consider better water heater/change settings. Get faster internet/don’t split one slow internet between the 3 far apart cabins. Or just nix the WiFi, then people will not expect it, especially when guests have to “limit to only one device & only check email” anyways. We needed internet for work one day and ended up using our phone’s data to do so. Grate the road, fill problem areas (like near first cabins) &/or use pipes to divert the water run off. The only thing we weren’t required to clean was the towels & sheets! Either remove the bathroom/cleaning requirements or reduce your cleaning fee cost. Ensure that the place is actually clean before renting it out.
Hi Nadine, thank you for your feedback. We are terribly sorry that you had a bad experience and would appreciate a phone call to discuss further. It also would have been helpful if you had reached out to our property manager or ourselves for any concerns. It is unfortunate that you chose not to do this. There are a few areas we would like to clarify:
1) Cleaning service: mops, vacuums, refills kitchen and bathroom sundries, etc and take pride in keeping our cabins as clean. Anything not clean should immediately be communicated; we do not understand your choice not to do this.
2) Cleaning Fee: we only require guests leaves dishes, utensils, etc clean and put away and take the garbage to the road as stated in our rental agreement. We changed our policy around two years ago. Not understanding your reference point.
3) Critters: Terminex comes out multiple times a year to treat our cabin as we are located in the middle of the woods. That said critters (including centipedes, bees, wood roach, ants, etc) will get in if you do not check the wood you bring in and/or leave the front door open, even for a short period of time. Having a 10 acre, wooded property, we do our absolute best to keep them outside but they do try and sneak in.
4) Hot Water: we have a 30 gallon water heater, tested every spring and it gets you through about three showers and then will need around 10 minutes to get hot again.
5) Wifi: we note in our R&P’s that wireless purely for checking email, FB, Inst, looking up awesome local restaurants, wineries, waterfalls, etc. We are clear that we do not provide gaming and movie streaming services. Because of our secluded location, there is no available Cable so we are forced to use a DSL connection. This is an oasis to escape digital technology and enjoy the outdoors. Thank you.
An amazing way to spend Labor Day Weekend!
My girlfriend and I both loved the property and had an amazing weekend grilling, hiking, kayaking and all around relaxing. The place is well maintained and the property is gorgeous and right on the water. I would highly recommend this rental and would definitely rent this unit again!!
We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin in August 2019. The location is very private, access to the beach is easy, the view from the cabin is unbeatable, and the guests at the two neighboring cabins did not encroach on our space. The property manager was very responsive and was able to respond to our requests in no time.
We got exactly what was advertised with this listing.
We knew the driveway was long and bumpy because we read the other reviews. Don't let this scare you! Our friend who visited us twice during our stay was able to navigate in a small sedan... no 4WD needed.
We knew there were steps because again, we read the reviews. Our only suggestion is that they could be better lit for night navigation. Being the intelligent women we are, we used the flashlight on our phones. Those steps led to the pier where we enjoyed sipping on wine and watching the most beautiful sunsets.
The cottage could use updating, especially the bathroom, but it wasn't a concern for us because we knew we wouldn't be spending too much time in there. We had a clogged bathroom sink and the property manager responded right away. Unfortunately, it didn't get fixed until Saturday, but we blame the repair company, not the owners/property manager. They tried~
I would love to rent this property again, perhaps using the other cabins on the property as well because it's dog friendly and would accommodate all 10 of us.
We brought our own camping chairs and enjoyed the fire pit one evening. It was too hot for more than that.
We loved our stay.
