Close to Oxford and Miami U. Pet friendly, and away from college shenanigans

Come stay at the historic Brown farm (circa 1818). The cottage is the farm’s original ice house, but is far from chilly. The cottage has been completely renovated, while saving a few historic details. We recently went solar and have an auto generator, so you can feel good about environmental impact, while never being disturbed by a power outage.

The cottage is best described as a studio apartment. It has a full kitchen, bedroom/living space and full bath (shower only). The bedroom/living space has a queen (medium soft) bed. The cottage is optimal for 2 guests; however, an inflatable twin mattress is available for one additional guest.

Guests have access to a heated pool (May15- October 1) and hot tub (year round).

Come enjoy our 14 acre property including our native prairie restoration project. Our stocked pond and paddle boat are there for you to enjoy along with a pond-side fire pit.

We are pet friendly ($20.00 fee), but do not have fencing to contain your furry friends. There are two dog parks close by and our entire property is available for leash walking.

We are less than 2 miles from uptown Oxford and Miami U, and 3 miles from Hueston Woods State Park which offers mountain biking trails, road riding, Acton Lake, hiking trails, horseback riding (summer only) a dog park and great birding. The Hueston Woods Lodge has a nice restaurant that rarely has a long wait.

Ice House Cottage.

We had a great time, the hosts were very helpful. The cottage was everything we hoped for, the pond is very nice and close by. Super location to the State Park and Oxford. We will be back.

Fun Weekend in Oxford!

Our family had an incredible weekend in Oxford! This place truly exceeded our expectations! We really enjoyed all of the amazing amenities, especially having access to both a pool and a hot tub. The grounds were stunning and really offered a serene and beautiful environment. Highly recommend for a nice, relaxing stay!

Fabulous stay

The cottage is very clean and cute. The property is gorgeous. The pool was the perfect temperature and very clean. It was too hot to use the hot tub. There is a beautiful pond and the area was perfect for an early morning walk. Highly recommend this listing.

So much fun

Was greeted upon arrival everyone was so nice and helpful!!The pool was so nice along with hotub and shower ! The pond was a blast we caught a few fish in between rain storms lol !! Had zero issues and we will be back again next year thank you for making this place available to enjoy and making our bdays special

My own little apartment

Very handy. Park at the door, windows that open all around, pool and hot tub, and owners available if needed. Best choice in Oxford.

Quick trip for a girl and her pup

The hosts were very friendly and thoughtful. The property and cottage were very clean and well maintained. The trails were freshly mowed and easy to walk. A storm came through the 2nd evening and we lost power but only for a minute. They are also solar so the generator kicked on automatically and was actually very quiet. The pool was extremely clean and very relaxing. Would highly recommend for a couple get away especially if you have pets since they are pet friendly. It’s located in the country but close enough to town that restaurants deliver!

Having access to a kitchen while visiting my daughter at college was awesome. The place was very clean and quiet. It was so close to the campus (about 1 mile) but felt like you were totally out in the country and away from the busy campus/uptown area.

The house was amazing. The host was awesome and very accommodating. Had a great time fishing in the lake, everything was perfect. Highly recommended. Our travel plans got changed and they worked with us on the issue. Would stay here again.

Neat place with wonderful hosts

My daughter and our black lab had the best time at this hidden gem of a property. So much room for our dog to enjoy the snow and the hosts were top notch! We will be back for sure!

Most Adorable!

This is one of the most adorable VRBO I have ever rented. I'm actually sad that it is booked for the rest of my dates. The communication with the host was great. The property was super clean and neat. It was the perfect distance from Miami U. We can't wait to stay here again.

This is such a cute property! Better than the pictures. So clean, comfortable, and cozy. It's more spacious than I anticipated and is very well appointed. Overall, it was great place to stay while in town to visit our kids at Miami!!

Charming cottage full of amenities

This is a lovely place just outside of town on a beautiful peaceful farm. Kathleen was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The cottage is very sweet and comfortable with nice touches like snacks and kitchen basics.

We really enjoyed our stay. The listing is very accurate, and the host and hostess are friendly and helpful! The hot tub was a big perk for us, and was located in a semi-secluded area, which was ideal. Overall a great time and we will look to stay here next time we are in the area!

Tom is retired military and retired as an intelligence analyst with the National Geospatial Agency. Kathy retired from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. Kathy raised both of her children in Oxford and returned with Tom after working for a few years in Washington DC, including a stint with the US House of Representatives. We enjoyed renovating the original Brown family farmhouse where we now live with our dogs, Alika and Jeff. Oxford gets in your blood. It is a lovely town to visit, or to live in. We look forward to hosting and sharing this midwestern gem.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We are conveniently located just 1.5 miles from uptown Oxford and 2 miles from Miami U., yet our setting is rural and peaceful. Hueston Woods State Park is 3 miles north and offers hiking, golf, fishing, birding and a beautiful lodge and restaurant.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

Location, location, location! We are also one of few pet friendly accommodations in Oxford. We are pet lovers and know it can be hard to leave your pets behind. We have a fenced area for our dogs. Our dogs are very accepting of other dogs; however, we are not liable for escapees or injuries due to doggy arguments. We also welcome other pets, except snakes: they freak Kathy out. We have 14 acres upon which to exercise your dogs, and you don’t need to pick up the poo! It all goes back to nature.
