The place is little secluded from restaurants and activities but still a great quiet getaway. Lots of amenities that have been added to better the place like the kayaks and paddle boards.
The cabin was clean and cozy, located on very beautiful lake. The weather did not cooperate alas we were unable to enjoy the water, five min from Bolton Landing and nestled among many hiking trails. We will come back and try again for better weather.Recommend hightly!
Although it is set back behind the main (owner) house there is still a good view of the lake. The house is cozy but well maintained. Plenty of kayaks etc. and chairs down at the beach. We had a great time there. Also it is very close to Boltons Landing and the Algonquin Restaurant.....
We enjoyed our stay just off the beaten path, but close to all Lake George has to offer. Use of lake beach, firepit and canoe was a highlight - very relaxing. Friendly host and dogs were nice to have close by but otherwise we had plenty of quiet and privacy. Cabin has everything including an AC for occasional humid nights. Nearby Bolton Landing more upscale but charming. Thanks for a good experience.
This is truly a special place to stay. Proximity to the lake is perfect. The guest house is private yet easily accessible. This is a great place for either 1 or 2 couples who love the lake life. It's super convenient to get into Bolton and Lake George, and yet you feeling like you're in your own private oasis.
My husband and I rented this small cabin on recommendation from our daughter. She was right! Clean, cozy, dock, all needed amenities were available. Beautiful setting away from the hustle and bustle of the town which was only a short drive away. Our host was very responsive to any questions we had. Would definitely stay again.
This was our 3rd stay here and most certainly wont be our last. The addition of the washer and dryer was a more than pleasant surprise as was the air conditioner which fortunately for us went unused. Great weather, comfortable cabin (guest house), nearby hiking trails, fun stores 5 minutes away and kisses from Flynn the Lab....what could be better.
Meticulously maintained cabin. Just off the lake but there is an excellent waterfront area for guests. Hope you like dogs because there are two Labs who will want to make friends. 5 stars.
My husband and I are just home after a wonderful week on Trout Lake. The owners always seem to think of what would make the experience that much better. We really appreciated the addition of the AC since it was in the 90's and didn't even mind the thunderstorms! We're already looking forward to a 3rd annual trip.in 2024.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this property for 5 nights in mid October to enjoy the autumn foliage and it was absolutely beautiful. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. This place is truly cozy ! It is on the property of the ownerâs house, however we felt very private and it was nice to be greeted by their 2 friendly labradors. Being situated on trout lake was amazing as we could sit and enjoy the fire pit by the water or utilize any of the available watercraft. If youâre ever looking for a cozy and quiet Adirondack getaway with your loved one definitely consider this place.
This was a great little place for my family of 4. We loved that it was so close to lake George, the fall foliage, the availability of the "water toys" to use on the lake, the view, and the kids loved the dogs on the property.booking, checking in and checking out was as easy as it can get.
The only downside was that the Internet didn't quite reach the cabin from the main house and it smelled a little like dogs but I would rent it again.
This is my second time at this lake house. The home is clean and quiet and just what I needed for a week away. The new washer/dryer and AC are welcome additions. For me, the beauty of this place is mostly location. It is a short walk down a path to a private beach and dock on Trout Lake. There are kayaks, paddleboards, floats, and rowboats to use. The lake is clear and calm. There is ample hiking close by and it is a short drive to the town of Bolton Landing. Visits from the family dogs - Flynn and Fancy - were always welcome.
My husband and I had never been to the Adirondacks and decided to book a home away for our anniversary trip. Everything about this cabin was great- from the absolutely gorgeous location right on Trout Lake, to the accessibility of it to many âtouristâ places, down to the quaint small cabin feel we really were looking for. We did not meet Ron in person, but his wife Claire was so kind and welcoming; even though we only met her the last day! The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities (Keurig, toaster, pots and pans, silverware, etc) and each bedroom and the living had a flat screen TV (not shown in the current photos!) so was a nice surprise! We will definitely be staying here again next trip!
This property was very small and very tight. It was clean and neat. However, by the second day, all we could smell was mold and mildew in the cottage. We actually left early. Additionally, the path to the lake has a significant climb down. You have to be in quite good health to be able to get to the beach. Very disappointed.
Trout Lake is a beautiful lake to swim and kayak in. The swim platform was wonderful and the sandy shore made it easy to wade into the clear water.
The cabin sits behind the owner's house and there are views of the lake from the front porch. The cabin is cozy and has a consistent Adirondack theme. The week we were there it was hot/humid and the A/C in the living room was not effective. The fans in each room helped a lot. We had some intense rain/thunderstorms and saw a lot of ants in the house. This may be because of the storm. We enjoyed our time at Trout Lake. It's minutes away from Bolton Landing (where there are many good restaurants and shopping) and we had a great time boating on Lake George.
I only wish that it hadn't rained for two of the four days I was there! But it turned out that much of the area shuts down after Labor Day (restaurants are very hit-or-miss off season), so being hunkered down in the cottage was just fine after all.
It was blissfully quiet with a beautiful sunset view over Trout Lake, about five minutes from Lake George (the town of Lake George is a bit further down the road).
The bed was comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. I couldn't figure out how to work the Netflix TV to watch regular network TV shows (during those rainy days), so decided that reading was more relaxing anyway. Some instructions would be helpful on how to navigate through the Netflix prompts for those unfamiliar with the system. That's the only "issue" I had, but it was so unimportant at the time that I didn't bother asking about it.
Thanks, Ron, for an enjoyable stay at your cottage!

My family just returned from a week on Trout Lake. We have two small children and though it was a relaxing time, a few things prevented it from being an excellent vacation.
Pros:
-Beautiful waterfront- plenty of "toys" to play with, a fire pit, kayaks, canoes, etc. We even kayaked across the lake to the Trout Lake Camp property for ice cream- a super treat for our 4 year old daughter. We were thrilled to later find Trout Lake on swimmingholes.org
- Very nice owners who were very accomodating and helpful
Cons:
-Mosquitos! I have to admit-these critters really affected the rating above. We were attacked morning, noon, and night. Didn't have one single meal on the porch b.c it was so awful. We had bonfires in the evenings but paid the price dearly. I wish we had been warned in advance b.c my children were truly eaten alive.
- The cottage (aside from cable and internet) felt one step above cabin camping. The floor sloped considerably and the bathroom smelled over the course of the week.(I suspect from the septic system.) I even found a slug in there the first morning.
-The distance to town. The owners advertise 1 mile to Bolton Landing- and no matter how many routes we took: it was always 3 miles and a solid 7-8 minutes. Not a big deal but when you're expecting one mile, its a big difference and in this case, a disappointment, especially when we often went into town twice a day and expected it to be closer.
Facts of life - you take the good, you take the bad...I will take the high road & mention positives
Cannot fit a full review. Wish I could.
-Property overlooking pretty lake. Cabin behind host's home and view is limited from porch. "Private beach" was nice but hosts can see you from house in most areas. Dock in rough shape, lounged look gross even if clean, lots of chairs and water toys (kayak, paddleboards, canoe. Rowboat filled with slimy water and raft in middle of water pooped on to the max (neighbor's wasn't as bad).
-Cabin. Basic bed, kitchen, bathroom. tvs and laundry machine. Cabin is heavily sloped through 70%. It didn't bother me sleeping (bed is whatever). Has portable AC which is ok. Bathroom light/fan is loud and filled with dust you can see and black moldy wood over the shower. Pee stains on carpet.
-Hosts dog(s) visited us one night. It was the cutest thing. They are very independent.
-Rental is dog friendly but rules about no dogs on any couch/bed (also "no smoking" which seems to be indoors and outdoors. We have a service animal. The host was very upset about this when I told him 2 days before I came. I wasn't trying to deceive as host accused me but because Vrbo says I don't even have to mention it to anyone. Host was so mad and had Vrbo call me for extra $$ and when I explained the situation Vrbo sided with me and told host they were wrong. Host harrassed us even after that call and told us to cancel so he could make money. Refused to cancel himself after that. Can you believe that? I'm sure the host will have some bull response but Vrbo took my side.
We just spent an amazing week on the lake as a family, with two children ages nine and sixteen. The house was very clean and well appointed. The owners were very accommodating and friendly without feeling like they were on top of us. The house had everything you would need and was very organized. The house is cozy, perfect for a small family. We did bring an air mattress which we did use and it fit in the living room well. The lake access was just perfect. The owners have a little shed with all things lake related. There were life jackets, floats, and kindling for the fire pit. There were a variety of kayaks and stand up paddle boards for our use and there was plenty of seating at the lake. They really thought of everything! As teachers, this relaxing week was just what we needed to recharge before the hustle and bustle of a new school year.
