This was for an awesome little trip to Acadia :)
Pros:
- Clean and quaint waterfront cabin with all the amenities most people need. Beautiful outdoor space with a fire pit. One bed inside with room for an airbed if you're not sharing the main bed. Kitchen/fridge/microwave are a nice plus to save money on dining out.
- Close to convenience stores, restaurants, and a central location for the area. If you're here for Acadia, aside from going to the awesome but very populated Mount Desert Island, definitely head to the Schoodic Peninsula part of the park. This cabin was perfect for in between the two areas.
- Management is very nice, responds quickly, and is very accommodating. A lobsterman that helps out with the management dropped off some space heaters for the unexpected drop in temp one night, and we chatted for about 30 minutes! Very nice guy.
Neutral:
- For people that have stayed in cabins and cottages, this is a great place. People should not be expecting "the Ritz". It's a nice, individualistic, quaint cabin with the best reclining chairs haha.
- It's about 20 feet from the roadway, as disclosed, which makes it awesomely convenient to get going in the morning. But there is road noise. It does die down at night, but sensitive sleepers might still find it disruptive (especially the trucks). I'm from the city so it was no problem for me...to each their own!
Cons:
- The wifi was consistently an issue. For the first 48 hours of our stay, it bounced between moderate and slow. For the last 48 hours, it bounced between slow and nonexistent which affected the tv, phones, and computers. I ran a few speed tests and believe that extenders are needed. There was a storm one night, but given the distance between the unit and the router, and the amount of users, it can be hit or miss.
- Minor thing but we didn't realize there were multiple units and there are no numbers or signs with names designating them...so we tried to get in the wrong one at first haha. We resolved it in less than 10 minutes with management.
- Another minor thing but this place has everything you need except bowls. All other silverware, plates, cups, etc are there, but we went out to buy bowls.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and the trip!
