Rustic cabin, two acres of privacy, on quiet McCarry Lake
Vintage Northern Wisconsin cabin on small no-wake fishing lake attached to the six lake Pike chain via navigational channel. Row boat, canoe, lifejackets, firepit at lakeside. Cabin is 30 minutes from Port Wing on Lake Superior south shore.
The cabin was cozy. Enjoyed the gas stove. Loved the antique waffle iron, and the old fridge, cool vintage items. The bedroom has a window fan and was cool sleeping. Very comfortable beds and we slept well. I would suggest having a fire pit close to the cabin. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Loved the place. There was confusion about check in. We had seen photos of main cabin online and expected to stay there but owners intention was for us to stay in smaller guest cabin. Not clear at all.
We ended up staying in main cabin and really enjoyed it. Overall a positive experience
While it is rustic, the property is not super secluded which is what we prefer when visiting somewhere new - there are several other well taken care of properties right on the same road/lake and there were plenty of other people around. The cabin is as described - no frills but comfortable. The wi-fi was surprising good.
The only feedback we have are:
1.If you are sensitive to hot or cold that you might want to bring your own fan or extra blankets. We ended up with a weekend that was 90+ degrees and the one box fan was a lifesaver but would have been best with two - one for each bed.
2. Additionally the canoe was too full of water to use and we didn't have time to bail out the water.
Oh, and always remember your bug spray when going up north in the summer! Overall it was a great no stress experience for our family.
Great communication with owner, relaxing, had the lake to ourselves. There were no oars or life jackets seen, glad I brought mine. Neighbors dogs came over a few times, 1 not friendly like. Overall it was a great escape.
Little cabin with a lot of character. Right on a smaller lake with a canoe and row boat. There is access to the bigger lake through a small culvert but the beavers had it partially blocked off so we had to carry it over the damn. Made for a nice weekend.
