Welcome to Bay House - a stunning oceanfront villa in a sheltered cove. This hidden gem is situated on the Lighthouse Route within St. Margaret's Bay. The villa has beautiful park-like surrounds and is filled with natural light and beautiful views from every window.

Bay House is a natural retreat ideally situated for your stay in Nova Scotia. Being on the Lighthouse Route you will find many options for eating out and and sight seeing. Experience local maritime culture with day trips to Halifax (30 mins), Oak Island, Mahone Bay, Chester and Lunenburg. Past guests have described their stay as an authentic Nova Scotian experience and a truly unique paradise.

Our guests enjoy a pleasant mix of relaxing on the ocean, evenings enjoying the waterfront view by the fire pit or on our expansive wrap-around deck and unique day trips to the many local restaurants and places to see.

Boaters will note the private wharf and mooring available for guests. The seasonal dock has a swimming ladder, fresh water & an electrical hook-up. There's easy entry to the water for swimming, a double hammock and fire pit with plenty of chairs for seating.

You will also love the interior features and extensive amenities in the villa, as well as the outdoor spaces and oceanfront.

Environmentally friendly heating and cooling is provided with a high efficiency heat pump and electric thermal storage units. Our natural well water is sourced from acres of natural land replenished from nearby Wooden's river. A whole-home generator also provides guaranteed interruption-free backup power no matter what the eventuality for your entire stay.

We also provide an exclusive digital guidebook as an downloadable app to help you navigate the Lighthouse Route along the coast of Nova Scotia. You will find entries for all the many tourist attractions and as well as hidden gems off the beaten path.

Our curated guide features: sightseeing, local islands, shopping & antiquing, restaurants (including vegan options), live music & shows, art galleries, golfing & marinas, as well as boat, kayak, bike and paddle board rentals. Our guide will help you plan your own unforgettable experiences!

The villa is surrounded by unique and beautiful mature gardens - landscaping was designed by the former president of the local St Margarets Bay Gardening Club. Bay House has also been certified by the Canadian Wildlife Federation as a Wildlife Friendly Habitat. Yoga mats are provided for our guests to enjoy the tranquil grounds and reconnect with nature.

Before you book, please be aware of the following:

- For safety, only children who are 8 years and older are permitted (due to natural hazards on the property). Children must be supervised at all times. Please message us with the ages of any children staying at the villa.

- The natural sloping property would make it difficult for those with mobility issues to reach the waterfront. Though the view from the deck at the house is also very nice.

- There is an outside security camera that points towards the front door area.

Our hosts were extraordinary. Our communications were quick, thorough, and well received. The property is beyond belief, just as the thoroughly comprehensive listing. This is a top notch property managed by top notch hosts. Every conceivable desire in a custom home was provided. It’s not possible to list everything that was provided so suffice to say, if you needed something it was there. Every space was spic and span. The exterior was superbly maintained. Wish we could have stayed longer. We know that if we’re in this location again this is where we would want to stay.

A great location for a family getaway

The house is great and easily accommodated our group of 7. From booking through check out, the process was easy and the owners were always fast to respond. The kitchen is a dream! It has a large layout and all the tools and amenities you’ll need. We even used the instant pot. We loved that there were different areas to relax including a cozy indoor porch off the kitchen and a living room with a foosball table. One thing to note, the only shower on the main floor (with three bedrooms) is in the primary bathroom. It wasn’t a major deal and had a separate entrance from the primary bedroom, but did require communication among the group when in use. There is another bathroom on the floor with a sink and toilet. The basement bedroom had a full bathroom. The outdoor space is great with a beautiful deck with cushioned furniture as well as comfortable Adirondack chairs down by the water on the dock and by the fire pit. We only regretted not renting kayaks to enjoy right from the property! The location is great - a few minutes from Peggy’s Cove lighthouse and other small shops and grocery stores. It was a good central location as we explored other areas of Nova Scotia. Highly recommend this house. We gathered to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary and left with wonderful memories!

5 star home!

This home is 5 star from start to finish … beautiful inside and out. The views and property are spectacular, but if the weather should keep you inside for a bit, you’ll relax in a comfy place with WIFI, satellite TV, video games and a lovely kitchen for cooking. If you just want to read and contemplate life, there are rooms for that too! The hosts are wonderful — always responding within minutes. If you’re on the fence about where to book in the Peggy’s Cove area, you can’t go wrong with this home. Michelle Couch-Friedman 😊
