La Villa Hermosa se compose de 2 chambres d'hĂŽtes privĂ©es (Villa Hermosa et Villa Toucan) situĂ©es dans les collines pastorales / de la forĂȘt pluviale, juste Ă  l'extĂ©rieur de Fortuna.

Villa Hermosa est la premiĂšre maison d'hĂŽtes. Il dispose d'une chambre spacieuse avec des lits California King et Queen.

La Villa Toucan est la deuxiĂšme maison d'hĂŽtes. Également une unitĂ© d'une chambre Ă  coucher; meublĂ© avec lits Queen & Single.

La Villa Hermosa est parfaite pour les parents et 1-2 enfants plus jeunes. La Villa Toucan est parfaite pour 2-3 enfants plus ùgés ou des adolescents.

Parfois, les parents préfÚrent le toucan comme une escapade privée.

-La maison d'hÎtes principale se compose d'une grande suite principale dotée de lits California King & Queen et pouvant accueillir de 4 à 5 personnes.

Il dispose d'une salle de bains principale, d'un grand salon extérieur, d'une salle à manger, d'un bar, d'une cuisine et d'un barbecue.

-Il y a une villa séparée (non connectée à la maison d'hÎtes principale) appelée The Villa Toucan qui a des lits Queen & Double et une salle de bain complÚte. Toucan peut accueillir jusqu'à 3 personnes.

-La propriété est plus de 1 acre et a une piscine privée avec cascade, grands patios et jardins bien entretenus qui comprennent des sentiers, des arbres fruitiers et des visites occasionnelles de toucans, paresseux et iguanes.

Un invité récent (Robin du Maryland) a récemment écrit à propos de la piscine (août 2018): «La plus belle eau de piscine dans laquelle j'ai jamais nagé!

-La propriété dispose également d'une salle de jeux avec une table de billard en feutre rouge, un jeu de fléchettes, un mini-bar et une troisiÚme salle de bain complÚte.

-Nos invités apprécient souvent l'observation des oiseaux depuis le salon extérieur le matin (les oiseaux sont heureux de manger les restes de banane, d'ananas et de café moulu). Au cours de la période de migration 2018, nous avons été visités par plus de 60 espÚces d'oiseaux /

-La propriété est mise en place pour se détendre avec des amis et la famille. De nombreux groupes et familles aiment flùner dans la piscine, faire du billard, lancer des fléchettes, jouer à la fers à cheval sur la pelouse impeccable, observer les oiseaux et les arbres le long des sentiers ou tout simplement jouer à des jeux de société, lire des livres surfer sur Internet dans l'espace de vie extérieur.

-Les couples et les couples en couple profitent de l'expérience privée et du service personnalisé. Le propriétaire peut personnaliser (sans frais supplémentaires) tous vos besoins en matiÚre de voyages et de visites.

-Nous sommes à 7 minutes en voiture du Springs Resort & Spa, de renommée mondiale, ce qui permet à nos clients d'accéder facilement à la station via notre carte journaliÚre spéciale.

Température
Plusieurs avantages de notre emplacement (juste à l'extérieur de Fortuna) sont la célÚbre brise Arenal que nous recevons (plus élevée que Fortuna), la beauté calme / sereine (en dehors de l'agitation) et le temps idéal (70-73 degrés), légÚrement plus frais que Fortuna (encore une fois, grùce à notre altitude plus élevée). En outre, notre colline est connue pour avoir la meilleure vue sur le volcan.

Amazing villa near La Fortuna

We had a wonderful time at Villa Hermosa! So many activities nearby, including sloths, zip lines, waterfall repelling. Our hosts, Michelle and Judah couldn’t have been nicer, outgoing, fun and helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable stay!

Villa Hermosa was an amazing, authentic Costa Rica experience!The open-air living room and kitchen were really unique and just as enjoyable and comfortable as I expected. The swimming pool had a resort feel, and, along with the game room, provided endless entertainment for our family.To get to the Toucan Villa from the main house, there is a considerable walk through rainforest. The plants and paths are impeccably maintained and stunning, but young children are not likely to feel comfortable staying there alone. Also, some other reviews mention motorcycle and truck noise from the street, which contrasts the otherwise peaceful and secluded feel throughout the property.Overall, our stay at beautiful Villa Hermosa was relaxing, memorable, and a whole lot of fun.

Short and sweet

This is a very well looked after property with a beautiful pool area. However the location was very noisy as the property borders the only major highway. The beds in the small cabin (which was far from the main building) were quite uncomfortable. Had an issue with the gate closing too quickly on our vehicle as we could not move forward or onto the road quickly enough due to oncoming traffic. We had a booking for 8 nights however left 5 days early as we couldn’t see ourselves staying once our friends left. The owners were good to deal with.

A great place for families

Check in was great, the owner walked us through the property and how to use the waterfall/lights. Bedrooms and bathrooms were only four walled parts of property, grateful to have a/c option there and enjoyed having dinner at table with open air space. Birds not too loud for sleeping. Great to have a private pool. Road to location was paved, above the property it turned to dirt so you have the option to drive two different ways to la Fortuna. Property is behind a gate so secure. The host was very responsive and helped us plan our outings with great suggestions. Recommend to any family, older children/teenagers could stay in the toucan room so they have their own space.

perfect Immersion in La Fortuna!

We split half our time in the rain forest and half at the Beach. This Perfect property was exactly what the Doctor ordered when it came to getting into the feel of Costa Rica Rain forest. All of the property was outside except the bedrooms. This I thought was a concern until I realized the Mosquitos are not a factor at all due to the elevation of the Property. Nestled on almost one acre, you really get the feel of having a little piece of Costa Rica to your selves. Even our three kids, (17, 15, and 9) thought it was super unique and added to our trip experiment. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a true Pura Vida Experience.

Wonderful place in paradise!

Our hosts were some of the nicest people! They really care that we love Costa Rica and helped set up our tours and restaurants! They made our stay fantastic.The ONE thing I would do differently—I wish we would have listened to Judah and had a car service pick us up from the airport! Customs and renting a car took a long time, and we usually rent cars everywhere we go. The car rental from Hertz almost wasn’t big enough for our family and luggage, and was twice the price they quoted online. Once we were in the car, driving towards La Fortuna was SCARY! Our GPS didn’t work (areas don’t have signals), the roads were small and windy, without streetlights, mist/clouds
it was all VERY scary. And on top of not knowing where we were going, the signs were non existent and I didn’t know if we would make it! I would definitely recommend a driver! Once at the house, Judah can get a car for you. He mapped directions and it was easy
once we got there!Once there, it was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. It’s close to many hotels/springs/restaurants, and like I said, our hosts were fantastic people. It was easy to get to beautiful restaurants and la fortuna hot springs. Judah set us up with tours for white water rafting where we saw sloths, hanging bridges where we saw monkeys, hot springs, and great meals. We fought over who would sleep in the back cabin! Both cabins were comfortable and very peaceful. It was great family time overall.We already can’t wait to go back!

Perfect location for a romantic get away.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Hermosa. The grounds were beautiful and the accommodations were excellent. Judah and Michelle were welcoming and very helpful in suggesting and booking activities for us. What a peaceful place to stay away from the fast pace of La Fortuna. The beautiful birds were abundant on their property and so much fun to observe. We also enjoyed the game room, playing darts and pool an d sitting by the beautiful pool.

Wonderful hosts, gorgeous property

Staying at Villa Hermosa was a paradise within a paradise. We heard the calls of exotic birds, croaking of frogs, and the occasional howler monkey. We made ourselves at home in both guest houses.‹‹ We cooked breakfast each morning on the outdoor cooktop while being visited by all sorts of colorful birds who feasted on fresh fruit on a bird altar. Only the bedrooms/bathrooms are indoors and we loved spending most of our time in the fresh air in the outdoor living areas.Judah was more than a host. He was our default travel agent and helped us plan our days. He also sent us the best routes to take. We only got lost once and it was because we didn’t follow Judah’s directions. :) A typical drive was about 20-25 minutes to get to the La Fortuna area.Each night we invited Judah and Michele over to recap our days and show them pictures of our adventures. They live on the property and were there when we needed them, but otherwise we had our privacy.‹‹Though it was the “dry season” we got our share of intermittent rain. We loved waking early and drinking coffee while it rained. ‹‹We had the good fortune of spotting frogs mating near the pool, an adorable red-eyed tree frog looking for his mate, a handsome Toucan who loved to pose for our cameras, and happy grazing cows in the adjacent field. ‹You can tell how much time, energy and love goes into maintaining the property and making a wonderful experience for their guests. We can’t wait to return - hopefully for longer next time!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

Incredible property. We enjoyed spending time here, by the pool, exploring the expansive gardens and property, playing some of the many games available, having some meals and relaxing. Very comfortable and inviting. Judah was very responsive to any questions, gave excellent recommendations for activities and made reservations for us. A bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. Highly recommend for semi-adventurous travelers!

Wonderful stay

We enjoyed a 4 night stay at Judah’s place - our first visit to Costa Rica. Beautiful property! So many birds! My 15 year old loved the pool - and the pool/game room at night! We are so glad we opted to use Mario, their local transportation from the airport to the rental. He met us at the airport, helped us navigate the grocery store on our way to the rental and told us so much about his country. Highly recommend Mario! We then rented a car for our 3 days in the Arenal area. Judah’s location is perhaps 25 minutes outside the La Fortuna downtown area, but that wasn’t a huge concern for us. The property was safe, relaxing and not far from a few great restaurants. We’d stay there again!

Perfect tropical vacation home

Most wonderful tropical vacation home in a beautiful garden with pool and hammocks. We enjoyed our breakfasts and BBQ dinners on the open terrace of the house listening to the voices of nature. Wendy really made us feel home. We found everything we needed in her vacation home. The house has an eye-catching design, both inside and outside, and shows such an extent of care and love that is rare to find. Wendy is a happy and very helpful host. We liked the location of the house being fairly close to attractions and grocery stores. Thank you so much Wendy again, and would love to come back.

Perfect mix of beauty and fun!

We had a wonderful time. Villa Hermosa was so charming - it was a secluded oasis with amazingly beautiful grounds. There was so much nature - birds, frogs, etc. And bats at night kept the mosquitos away! We had so much fun playing pool and darts in the game room, playing horseshoes in the backyard and swimming in the pool! Judah helped us plan all of our activities - rafting, zip line, hot springs, hanging bridge hour. He knew the best ones and made all our reservations for us. Every single excursion was perfect! I’d certainly recommend Villa Hermosa to anyone traveling to Costa Rica.

Spring trip was fantastic

My wife and I stayed here in March and had an amazing time. Judah and his mom greeted us right away and were available as much as we needed them but were otherwise invisible. The property is a true outdoor paradise escape. We felt so secluded but still close to anything we wanted to do. The pool being private and COMPLETELY surrounded by plush greenery was one of my favorite things as well as the walking paths through the jungle on the property. Judah was incredibly helpful pre-trip in helping us plan, set up any and all reservations we needed including rental car, and responded promptly any time I had a question while on the trip. La Fortuna as a whole was the perfect trip with so much to do close by and this was the perfect place to be close to it all without being within the city itself. If we ever come back to La Fortuna (lots of world still to see) we would absolutely come back here. Thanks again Judah and to your mom as well.

Unique accomodations that we perfect for our family

The property is stunning and the two villas, game room and pool were just what we were looking for to relax and enjoy Costa Rica outside of the city. Judah and his mother could not have been more welcoming and helpful. This is not resort, so you cook your own meals - which we loved. There is a beautiful resort very close by with great restaurants and multiple activities that you can access for a reasonable fee. We loved the open air environment of the villas, tours in the area and lazy afternoons in the beautiful pool. We visited four distinct areas of Costa Rica and this is one that we will likely return to and recommend to our friends. It was as close to perfect for us as it could be. Perfect place for a family!!

This place was great for our family of 5 (3 kids - 11, 8 and 6). We loved the different spaces (outdoor kitchen and sitting area that is covered - which is great because even when it rains, you can be outside, pool area and deck and games 'room'). The kids basically had free run of the property and we could have stayed much longer! It is on a rural/rough road so we were happy we had an SUV and we liked the fact that after a full day of activity in the tourist hubs that we could come back to our quiet oasis. The property is beautiful and spacious. It is well equipped and we ate most meals in. Judah was very helpful in organizing activities (springs resort 2 day trip, hanging bridges and zip lining). He was extremely easy to get a hold of if we had questions, needed directions etc. The other thing we loved about this property is that the other guesthouse is not rented unless you are in the same party, so we were the only guests there.

Awesome private wonderland just outside of La Fortuna

This place was perfect for our La Fortuna/Arenal adventure lag of our trip. We are a family of 6 with our kids ages 13, 11, 9 & 7. This home is about 30 minutes away from Fortuna and is set in a private setting. There were two villas located on the property one is a cabin and the other has a more substantial master room. It is set on a beautifully landscaped property and the pool was great for my kids. The remainder of the home is set outside including the kitchen and patio which was awesome as we were able to be outside even though it rained a couple of the days were there. Judah was an informational dictionary with great recommendations for dinner and activities. Misael (the groundskeeper) was very helpful as well and always arounds. We felt very safe and it was the perfect place to relax after a day of adventuring in the La Fortuna region. 5 stars......

Perfect location for a wonderful family adventure!

We stayed several nights at this property and it was lovely! Judah was very helpful with information about the town, directions and planning excursions. My husband and I had a comfortable bed and our 12 year old was in the room with us with her own bed. I felt safe! There is another little house if you have a larger group but we did not need it. Nice pool to take a dip, lovely birds around with a fun “altar” for composted fruit to attract them. Quaint outdoor area with enclosed bedroom that can be locked for safety. Nice and clean! A minor negative is the property backs up to a dirt road that was busy in the morning, however there is wonderful foliage so you have privacy. Close proximity (15-30 min. drive) to La Fortuna, Mistico Hanging Bridges, The Springs, Chocolate Factory and more. I really hope we can visit again and stay longer!!! Thank you Judah!!

This was our first time travelling internationally and travelling with a toddler in tow. Wendy eased so many of my anxieties and made us feel right at home. We felt like herpersonal guests and loved the daily check-ins and sharing of stories. The property itself is indescribable. I loved being outside but inside at the same time (open air living areas and kitchen!), and our son insisted on eating breakfast by the pool and walking the nature trails every single morning. We saw toucans, parrots, and a sloth - all within our first day! The minus one star is simply because there were some hot water issues in the main guesthouse. We were able to take warm showers in the second bathroom, so it really wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here or recommend here to family and friends.

Fantastic, awesome,Wendy is the best!

The long drive to Villa Hermosa was worth every minute! Wendy is amazing! The property is beautiful, clean and modern with just the right touch of Costa Rica. The gardens and pool are well maintained and the daily cleaning lady was a bonus. We enjoyed the pool every day. If you're a nature lover you will get excited seeing frogs, birds, lizards and various bugs. The open air common living areas add to the rainforest charm. The beds are comfortable and the showers hot! The best part of Villa Hermosa is Wendy. She's a beautiful soul who knows what she's talking about when it comes to the local activities. She helped us plan and book all of our excursions. And take advantage of her arranging transport from the airport or to your next destination. It's well worth the money. I highly recommend a stay at Villa Hermosa. You won't regret it. We miss you Wendy! Love, Hygeia and the Mejia Family P.S. Have fun in Madagascar! We're uber jealous!

The Perfect Oasis

Four girls stayed at Wendy's property. We really enjoyed our welcome cocktail and Wendy's morning coffee visits and we got to learn about Costa Rica in general along with her personal experiences moving there years ago. Wendy provided great help including maps for daily activities in the area .We absolutely loved her suggestion for a two day guest pass to The Springs! This is an exclusive resort with multiple natural hot spring pools, surrounded with lush vegetation and beautiful stone work. This was the perfect ending after a day of hiking or zip lining. We loved the care Wendy has taken to make her property truly gorgeous! She has planted hundreds of well placed, tropical greenery throughout her 1 acre property, all enjoyed through a short walking trail. Stunning! There is a small Tico grocery store easily within walking distance where we picked up fresh eggs, yogurt, avocado, tomatoes & bread. There are two larger grocery stores as well as restaurants a short drive away. The pizza in the small town of Monterrey was to die for! For a larger selection of dining and stores, Fortuna is close by. We loved the area, and all that it has to offer including an amazing view of Arenal volcano. This property is highly recommended!

We're a family of five (kids ages 11, 9, 7) who enjoy adventure and a safe, serene place to come back to relax at the end of a full day. This home, The Villa Hermosa, fit the bill perfectly! The homeowners, Judah and Michele, were wonderful to work with. Judah arranged for us to rent a car from Alamo in the town of La Fortuna. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive to the home as it didn't take us long, and the views of nearby Arenal Volcano are stunning! As we pulled into the gated entrance of the property, we were so impressed by its overall beauty; you really have to see it for yourself to truly appreciate it. We rented both houses and everyone slept soundly. We asked Judah to schedule three excursions for us: the hanging bridges tour, waterfall repel, and whitewater rafting. We simply showed up where he told us to, paid, and made lifelong memories! He made everything so simple. In our spare time at the house we played darts in the rec room, horseshoes, went swimming in the pool, walked the beautifully landscaped grounds, and even bird watched. In the mornings, thanks to another great tip from Judah, we'd drive into La Fortuna to a restaurant, The Red Frog, to have coffee and the best breakfast in Costa Rica. The owner of the restaurant, Roy, roasts the coffee in front of you, and his chef, Jeanette, is wonderful! Also, each evening we took advantage of a short drive to dine in the nearby town of Monterey where we met the kindest locals. As we left The Villa Hermosa to head back to the airport, quite early in the morning I might add, we were pleasantly surprised to have to wait (maybe three minutes) due to locals on horseback driving their cattle across the road to a nearby field with the striking Arenal Volcano in the background. It was an awesome sight to see and I was thankful to capture it on video too! My kids thought it was equally as cool as I did. We truly wish we could've stayed here longer, and hope to come back again someday! Thank you again, Judah and Michele, for taking such great care of my family!!!

Things are not always as they appear

The house is nicely situated in the country side away from all the shops and sites of La Fortuna. It is, at this point, not on digital map tools, so navigation becomes part of the journey. However, once you master the gravel driving, it is pretty quick to get to town. Traffic starts early on this road, so be aware that it is fairly noisy if you seek solitude. The property itself is a maturing garden with a nice pool and surrounding deck. There is a pathway taking you though the property and you can see a variety of birds and the pond is abundant with frogs. As for the house, it is somewhat different. First, as the description indicates, the common area is open and has no walls. There is a dining area, a seating area, and a couple of high tables. It has a counter with a raised shelf and fridge. To the side is a bbq/two burning cook top. There is also a very small sink. The kind of sink you can rinse glasses with, but it is not a dish washing sink. It is more set up as a bar, perfect for serving drinks. But as a house, it lacks a few basic amenities. The tiny sink had no plug, so we had to do dishes in a bucket. Also, there are no cupboards to put stuff away, so food has to be left out or stored in the fridge. I realize this sounds like a small problem but it starts to become more like camping than staying in a house. The bedroom was directly off the “kitchen” and fine for a couple, but we were a family and privacy was not optional. The bathroom was off the bedroom, so if you needed to use it, you had to go through the bedroom to get there. Again, that is fine if you are a couple, but with our extended family, everybody was walking in and out of the bedroom to use the bathroom. Of note: In the welcome binder, it was clearly printed ‘$15 for full service laundry’. We had a load and arranged it to be done. After, the caretaker then stated that it cost $50. He stated that the volume was actually two loads at $25/load. But it was clearly printed that the cost was $15. We contacted the property owner to clarify and were told that it was $25/load and that he just hadn’t updated the binder. Of course I realize it is only a $20 difference. But it is the principle of customer service. If the price changed, and you didn’t tell us, why is it our fault? For example, if you went to a restaurant and the price of the food was $10 and you get a bill for $30
and the owner said “well, I just haven’t updated the menu”, would you go back? Neither will we.

Relaxing cottages

We had a great stay. The Villa is about 30 mins away from adventure activities in La Fortuna, but provides a relaxing retreat. The pool area is private and tranquil with lovely gardening. The hosts are very friendly and make everything easy.

Amazing host

Beautiful spot surrounded by nature. Judah was an exceptional host! He was quick to answer any question and every suggestion he had from the best route, to restaurants, to the best companies to use for activities was spot on perfect! His guidance made our trip all the more enjoyable.
