The "Crappie Crib" is a 1 bedroom cozy little cabin designed to be comfortable and relaxing. The décor is a mix of Native American art and unique items from the area's celebrated fishing history. This cabin has all that is needed to "forget" your reality. Fish fry's and BBQ's are a mainstay on the Last Cast Patio. Relax at the “Historic and Classic” 1965 28’ Chris Craft “Last Cast” patio before and after your "Adventure". Bring your own boat or fish with us! Captain Randy has been a guide on Leech Lake for 18 years, and has over 30 years of experience. The Crappie Crib is just a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive to the waterfront boat landing. Ample parking with electric available for your vehicles, boats or ATV's.

Hello David, Thank you for your review, I'm glad you found our small cabin to be clean and hopefully comfortable. It's true that there's no TV in our cabins. The majority of our guests are here to unplug , fish, enjoy the outdoors and explore the beauty of the area. The cabin that you stayed in, as well as our other cabin have what is called a double, or full size bed. The bunk above is a twin bed. Again, thank you for choosing our venue for your visit to the area. We hope you enjoyed your veteran reunion.

If you love fishing, meeting new people, and a completely unique interactive host experience, then this is your place. We had a complete blast from start to finish. Randy and Shannon are THEE best charter/fishing guides I have ever experienced. We caught 61 fish in 2 and a half hours!!! You have to experience the best fish fry you can ever have!!! My only regret is we had to leave. Best fishing and best people ever! My absolute best regards to the Admiral and Captain!!!! Can't wait to see you again!!!

We had a wonderful time staying at Randy's cabin. It was just right for the two of us. If we are ever in the area again, we will most definitely stay with Randy.

Wonderful Weekend Away!

Before we even arrived the hosts were so helpful and welcoming! The Crappie cabin was such a nice little home away from home and we enjoyed getting to know the hosts and making new friends! Wonderful place to stay and highly recommend!

Nice lil get away

It was exactly what I needed for a little space to myself away from a big festival and I slept like a log! Very, very friendly hosts as well! Loved the stories and the pickle jar bloody mary!

Quaint Respite

So darn cute, we absolutely loved the porch of this place! Randy is such a congenial host, aiming to make all feel welcome. Comfortable space with just the right amenities in the tiny cabin. We'd love to come back again with friends, go fishing & have Randy do one of his fish fries!

Rustic and quaint cabin…we really enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the area!

We went atving in the area exploring the forests around Federal Dam. You can jump on a trail that’s nearby or trailer to a trailhead. Either way works. The cabin gave us a relaxing place to come back to every day after riding! We also enjoyed the visits with our hosts. They are great people!

Hi from Black Cat and Maria

Shannon and Randy are great hosts and really fun people. The Crappie Cabin was very cozy and just delightful. We enjoyed our evenings spent in the very unique outdoor lounge and the incredible mail boat. Randy is a story teller extraordinaire! The other guests and the numerous neighborhood friends of Shannon and Randy who joined us for evening laughs were delightful.

Federal Dam cabin

Randy was awesome host. Water and coffee as well as flavored creamer. The cabin was well stocked with plastic utensils and paper plates as well as coffee cups and other dishes. Nice refrigerator and freezer, toaster and microwave. Everything you would need. Wish we were there longer to enjoy some fishing.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay in Federal dam

Shannon and Randy were great hosts, they clearly wanted us to have a good time (and we had a great time). The Crappie Cabin was clean, warm and very cute. Randy is a fishing guide, and although he had other clients booked for this weekend, he encouraged us to fish along side with him, free of change. Randy put us on the fish, and the fishing was really good. We will be booking another stay with them next year because we had such a good time!

Wow! Where do I start, such a lovely experience inside and out! The hosts were beyond my wildest expectations and extraordinary, lifelong friendships were made. The fishing is top tier if you’re searching for such, but I would stay for the conversations and campfires. We WILL be back again, the locals are amazing and it’s such a lovely atmosphere. I only wish I could thank our hosts more!

Terrific hosts

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy little cottage. It had everything we could possibly need. It was very comfortable. Randy and Shannon were the perfect hosts. Upon our arrival, they helped us with our luggage. Randy even went so far as to have another person available to help my husband into the fishing boat. The fishing boat was clean and Randy did his best to find the good fishing spots. He knows where the fish are. We will definitely return.

Last Chance Stay

Welcomed and called by name after driving across the yard. (I wasn't driving) Long story/short. Open air, good fishing, history, comradery, unplug. really want to rant and rave about experience but that one is for me. Captain-Admiral hats off to you both.

Everything You Need!!!

If you have the opportunity to book this cabin, don't hesitate! Simply relax! Without TV! You have everything you need! Bathroom, small kitchen with fridge and microwave, separate bedroom, sitting area. Everything there! Super clean! And it's so cozy! If you have no problem with a bunk bed and can climb a bit, then go for it! Two people could sleep in the bottom bunk if need be. Cpt. Randy is the world's best host! Just call him! We had a great time and would have loved to stay longer!

Overall

The listing had "waterfront" in the listing which is what I really wanted - to go out of the door and enjoy a waterfront and not have to drive to get to the waterfront. I should have reviewed more closely. The hard water made things smell which is normal but taking a shower was uncomfortable with the condition of the water. The shower curtain needs to be washed. I brought all of my own food, plates and utensils and am glad I did.

Hi Joan, I'm sorry to hear that our quaint, rustic cabin wasn't what you were looking for. Our cabins are usually frequented by folks who come to experience the great fishing at Leech Lake. Those folks rarely cook in the cabin, instead choosing to take advantage of the wonderful amenities on the Last Cast Patio. I was not able to find any place on the site states that we are lakefront. Again, I'm truly sorry that your stay didn't go well for you. Rest assured that we will certainly make some adjustments based upon your suggestions.

Anniversary getaway

Quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of home/work. Randy and Shannon were available to answer any questions that popped up and brought us out for excellent fishing and a fish fry after. For a no fuss unplugged retreat Last Cast Adventure is a must!

Remote Getaway on the lake

We had a delightful time on our trip to Leech Lake! Randy and Shannon were both very hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. Our cabin had everything we needed and was cutely decorated with an overall fishing theme. The Last Cast boat lounge in the yard was an amazing bonus! The location is surrounded by pristine national forest and beautiful lakes and wetlands. Lots of great memories were had.
