Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication between us (the hosts) and the VRBO application in which we did not receive notification that you had booked our home. As we explained to you (and your wife) several different times, in many different ways, since we did not have a booking, we let a friend stay at our home. Unfortunately, you walked into the house that was occupied by our friend. We immediately made contact with you once we realized that there was a booking. We tried explaining the HONEST MISTAKE that was made and our friend was going to graciously leave and stay elsewhere so you could have the house. My husband even left our son’s graduation party to go clean the house for you. However, it didn’t matter how many times we apologized for the HONEST MISTAKE, and tried making the situation good for you so that you could stay, you showed ZERO understanding. Your wife,(whom we actually communicated with mostly), did nothing but yell at us and made it very clear that she wasn’t going to be happy with anything we did. Because of your lack of understanding and terrible behavior and disrespect towards us, we did decide to cancel your reservation and refunded ALL of your money. Had you showed any empathy towards the situation at all, and let my husband get in to clean the house, you would have been in within the hour, and probably would have gotten a nice discount as well. We have never received less than 5* on all the platforms our home is listed. We are honest, hardworking people who take pride in providing our guests with a beautiful, clean, private home to enjoy during their stay. I’ve been in similar situations as this as a guest, and know that mistakes happen, and allowed my hosts to make the situation right without any issues. Since that didn’t seem to be the case in this situation, we felt the need to cancel you and return your money. We do this not out of necessity, but because we enjoy providing this service to travelers like ourselves. We will not be treated with such disrespect over a simple misunderstanding. Once again, as a follow up to your review, there were not 3 bookings and you continue show disrespect towards us as hosts by implying that we thought this was “funny.” Believe us when we say, we thought that this was anything but funny.
