THE SHACK, Views of beautiful Auke Bay Harbor a Quarter Mile Away.
CBJ1000258
The Shack is a recently remold wash house from the original homestead. It sits next to the main house back in the woods with views of beautiful Auke Bay Harbor. The Shack is close to hiking, University of Southeast, and city bus lines. The original homestead was and is a school bus yard. Nights and weekends are very quite, school days are busy (I have lived on site with my wife 2 kids, dog and chickens for the past 16 years), but only for a few hours a day. In the end most people are not here to stay indoors.
My daughter and I really enjoyed the stay. It was the right size for the two of us.
Check in was very easy and simple.
We saw the owners outside their house and chatted briefly.
Itâs out of the way and very quiet.
Will certainly consider a stay again.
Great little property. We rented a car for our stay but didnât have to drive far. Everything we wanted to do was close by. We were blessed with awesome weather. Place was clean, Wi-Fi worked great, bed was comfy! Loved our stay in the Shack.
The location was awesome! Loved getting to explore around the area. The shack was perfect for 2 people. Only wish they had darker curtains since the sun is out so early and late in the summer!
We enjoyed our stay at the âshackâ location was perfect for our whale watching and fishing trip out of Auke Bay. We were able to walk from our house. The host was very nice and responsive to questions. Would highly recommend staying here!
Very comfortable, great location with country store, brew pub and cafe all within walking distance. The hosts went above and beyond to accomodate us! View of harbor and Northern lights from here topped our visit off with a bang! Will be coming back to the Shack in the future!
It was kind of hard to find the location of the place. It did sound like there was some kind of animal running around inside or outside under the house during the night. Overall we liked the shack, and would stay there again.
The listing was technically correct, but didn't truly represent the the place. The "view to beautiful Auke Harbor" was across an industrial area and school bus depot. Several of electrical outlets and switches had no cover plates. The "kitchen" was woefully inadequate. The curtains were "hemmed" with safety pins and binder clips. The towel rack fell off the wall. We left after the first night and advised the host accordingly. To the host's credit, at our request, we were refunded our payment for the remainder of our reservation.
