Located in central Maine on a hundred acre wood. Experience a one of a kind vacation night in a real Cherokee Indian teepee with a full sized bed. There are 5 teepees around the field of varying sizes. Each has its own fire pit, table, and trash can. The bathroom is a port-a-potty about 100 yards away, and hot showers can be provided with assistance from the owners (they are syphoned from the stream by a generator). Located 1.5 miles west of the Exeter Town Offices, you will be met by the owner who will show you the way across the property to the teepee sites.
The owner is very friendly and accommodating, the property is beautiful, and they have a great idea; however, it would be nice if they ran electricity to the area. We were unable to charge our phones, and the dampness was very uncomfortable. A space heater would have done wonders to help with the cold and damp. The bed was pretty comfortable. The shower pump would not start in the morning, so we spent the next day feeling dirty. With a few tweaks this place could be improved.
The check in was great, met us at the property line and drove us back to the tents and for a tour. The bathroom and shower were a little further away than I had expected but still accessible and fine to use. The tents are well furnished. Fire pits, generators, and solar lights make it a functional space. It was a very fun and unconventional camping experience.
Dogs loved it, we loved it. Very rustic, private, quiet. Hosts are the nicest people ever, super kind and thoughtful. Accommodations are exactly as described.
But the teepee is NOT WATERPROOF, and during a night of modest rain, it poured in on us. Unsafe and uninhabitable in rain.
