We had a lovely stay in the Main Cabin! Debbie was very helpful and communicated with us as we needed. The property is very homey and comfortable. Perfect stay for a wedding in Corinna. Just tucked away enough down a beautiful road past cows and scenic trees and farmlands. Water pressure in the shower was excellent and sitting on the front porch is really peaceful in the morning!
Debbie was an absolutely wonderful host! Her cabin was incredibly clean, quiet and beautiful! Highly recommend!! We will definitely be booking her property again!
This cabin was a nice place to stay for our excursions around Maine. While were were there, we were able to see wildlife everyday which was fun to see. The cabin definitely helps you disconnect from the business of everyday life!
Our stay here in Exeter nature cabins was glorious, the host, Miss Debbie was very kind.
The cabin was clean, and we absolutely loved where it is situated in the midst of the great outdoors of Maine.
We definitely want to come back here and enjoy another vacation in this great spot.
We came up for a long weekend. Wedding in a near by town. So beautiful the location of the property spent many hours sitting on the porch and by the fire
Highly recommend we all enjoyed every aspect of this property!
No picture can do it justice, its just a beautiful cabin on a jaw dropping peice of land. Such a peaceful and comfortable place to stay. All ages enjoyed themselfs so much we extended our stay. Not only would we recommend it we plan to return to experience all the seasons at the Exter Nature Cabins. The wildlife is so friendly there wasnt a day that we didnt get to see hurds if deer or flocks of turkeys plus eagles. So many different types of animals so close to get to watch them up close is a gift. The best way to describe it is a soul soothing relaxing getaway everyone needs to experience at least once in their lives.
The cabin was as expected. The air conditioner went out and Debbie replaced it the same day. We enjoyed the quite time and a visit with Debbie at the fire.
Debbie was delightful and easy to work with. The cabin was something out of a magazine. I instantly felt cozy and connected to the woods and fresh air. Hikes and a picturesque stream nearby. Full of wildlife. I woke up each morning woth coffee on the deck, listening to birds sing.
My family and I (6 children 2 adults) were taking an 11 day northeast road trip that included stops in beaches, cities, national parks, etc. This cabin served as a 2 day respite for the midpoint. What a getaway it was. We arrived late due to traffic and other concerns and the cabin was welcoming from the start. Plenty of room, lots of beds, and a quiet peaceful location. My 14 year old son told me upon arrival that "this is the kind of place I want to live." My younger children started asking how many days we could stay. We got into the unit and everybody showered and went to bed (the bathroom and shower were well sized and the water pressure/temperature was just right). Having a washer/dryer was a plus as it gave us a chance to reset our laundry situation. We spent our full day exploring the property, grilling, and making s'mores in the fire pit. When it came time to leave the children did not want to go. I highly recommend this off-the-beaten path property. It is a place to rest and connect with nature. Thank you!
Other than it being the season for black flies, I had a great stay at the cabin. The cabin is super cute and Debbie is very nice and welcoming. She lives nearby the cabin, so if thereâs anything you need, sheâs very quick to responding. There was a few days of rain, and luckily, I brought my laptop and a speaker with me so I could connect to my Netflix and YouTube TV to watch some news and movies. There is not a TV in the cabin. Due to the amount of rain, and the fact that it was spring, the black flies were horrendous. They ate up my dogs, and I had to get them some Benadryl and some spray to keep the flies off of them. It kept me inside where I didnât feel comfortable walking the trails or sitting by the fire pit and enjoying a nice fire in the evenings. I did enjoy the view and seeing the deer at times nearby. Walmart was about a 30 minute drive to get groceries.
We used two side chairs and an end table to have all our meals by the fire! Very relaxing reading in the big chair with a hassock.Beautiful sloping field in front, pristine snow. We had an equipment failure with cross country skis, but moved on to snowshoes for a lovely walk. Did one trail in boots alone, but wished we had gone back out with the snowshoes. Interesting ridge walk. We'd definitely go back at other seasons as well, but it was just what we wanted for February!snowshoes.
Loved this place and so did our dogs. Definately want to come back. Amazing huge wood fireplace and lots of land right out the back door to explore and throw the frisbee. It would be a great place for kids too. So quiet! No airplane noise even! No cars or neighbor noises. Clean, very comfy beds, well stocked kitchen and linens and even a washer/dryer. Also decent water pressure and a combo hand/regular shower head came in handy. Huge too with multiple beds. Two bedrooms with pocket doors that closed (a bit sticky and hard to move tho). It was pretty hard to find at night. The area is pitch dark and the roads are bumpy dirt roads hard to distiguish from a private drive. Google maps also has Downing Rd, the left turn off of Rt 43, as closed, and directs you to turn off prior to Downing (if coming from the west) onto Atkins which isn't a real road lol. Good wifi & cell service. No TV but we brought my 36 in and that was fine. I'm picky so brought my coffee machine but there was multiple machines (Keurig also Cuisinart drip) so I didn't need it. There isn't much to do in the immediate area tourist-wise but it's half an hour from Bangor and there is a good antique mall in Corrina as well as a family type restaurant across the street. Was surprised to see buggy crossing signs on Rt 43! And then we saw an actual buggy with people! Bet that would be a highlight for kids
Betty & Richard Bartlett created this magical place 25 years ago when they retired. They put together 550 acres of unspoiled woods with a family home and 2 comfortable cabins. Exeter has always been a family gathering place and we have had numerous family holidays, get-to-gethers and two weddings here. The younger generation of our family spent their childhood exploring the woods and streams, watching wildlife, eating apples and blueberries from the trees, sledding, etc. Stewardship of this property has passed to the adult children and we feel a sincere desire to share this beautiful, 'good for the soul' place with others who will enjoy it. Debbie Bartlett is the current resident and manager of Exeter Nature Cabins and environs. She is shown in the picture with her brother, Chris.
