First, I would stay here again in a heart beat! Itâs an adorable place. With that said, it could have been a little cleaner. The rug under the bed was very dirty. They should consider replacing it or getting it deep cleaned. The sink in the bathroom had dirt around the faucet. I cleaned it for the owner. The sink also broke. The hot water wouldnât turn off. I sent the owner a message and turned it off under the sink. The outside is a little dingy and cobwebs everywhere. They could decorate the flower boxes with cute fall decor to elevate the space and make it a little homey. They also could have more towels. There was only one washcloth.
Other than that, the place is so quaint. The bed was rather comfortable and we slept well. There is some noise from the road, but to me that helps me to sleep. They had everything we needed if we needed to make a meal, but we did not take advantage of it. Itâs close to Quinnipiac and much better than a hotel! Weâll definitely be back.
Basically good but a little tlc would go a long way
Clean, comfortable, tastefully renovated former roadside office/studio. Effective a/c, good shower, plenty of hot water. Property is just a few feet from busy Whitney Avenue. Outside is unappealing: weeds and trash in crumbling driveway; old screen door with ripped screen; shutter leaning against the house.
My wife and I, and our little dog, had a great experience staying at the Yellow Cottage. For our needs, it was perfectly located. It's on a busy street, but the traffic noises wound down at night.
Much nicer than the hotels in the area.
We have stayed in this little cottage several times now. Convenient location for visiting downtown New Haven. Bed is comfortable - kitchen small but it has what you need. Nice walking neighborhood if you have dogs. We will be back.
Location Location Location. It's perfect to pop to downtown New Haven. It's a small house - but it has what you need and it works for us and our dogs. Great bathroom! Morning walk down into Spring Glen is a good one. We will be back.
Good location. Easy in and out. Perfect for a weekend get away without the noise of hotel neighbors. On a main road so traffics noise but didnât really bother us.
Everything was great. Could have been a little cleaner as the fan was very dusty and dust on top of shelf and fridge. Great communication and had everything we needed for our stay.
Such a sweet little house with a perfect location for us. All the appliances were newish and the addition of a washer/drier was so great.
We will be back!
Small house living - clean, comfortable and a great location
This small house is in a marvelous location - a very quick drive (10 minutes?) to downtown New Haven. It's small house living - but is clean, comfortable and has all you need. Nice small yard space for the dogs and walking by the lakes to Spring Glen is an excellent morning dog (or just human) walk. We will be back.
This sweet cottage was everything I needed for my few days in New Haven. It was set up very nicely, clean and new. I was alone but it would have been great with my husband and a grandchild along too. Added bonus -- the tree leaves were spectacular, I hit the timing just right. If I stayed again, I would bring ear plugs. I am a light sleeper and there is some traffic on the road. Not enough to keep me from staying again, though.
